I wasn’t planning on posting about this — mainly because it’s ridiculous and there’s no real source — but it keeps popping up so I feel like I need to weigh in. Basically, 411mania.com is floating a rumor that EliteXC is considering a four-man heavyweight tournament that would include Kimbo Slice, Bob Sapp, Butterbean, and Tank Abbott.
Shit man, why not make it an eight-person tournament, and throw in Hong Man Choi, Dog the Bounty Hunter, that Indian girl who was born with eight limbs, and John Merrick’s bones?
I know EliteXC is smart enough to understand that putting Kimbo up against these fat has-beens is insulting to him, and no way to give him credibility in the world of mixed martial arts (which he’s been training his ass off trying to achieve). Bob Sapp is a joke, and Butterbean is a novelty act. For a brief moment after Kimbo beat Ray Mercer, the prospect of him fighting Tank Abbott seemed interesting, but he’s on a different level now.
