In Case You Missed It: Bob Sapp Won Another Diving Competition in Holland Over the Weekend

(To activate Sapp’s “duck and cover” signature move, press “UP, UP, A, B” on your controller.”)

When Bob Sapp finally retires from MMA and pens an inevitable tell-all book, there’s a pretty good chance that his 11-10 record will be diminished to a more realistic number like 1-5.

Proof that some promoters still fix fights is the video below of Sapp diving head-first at opponent Volkan Duzgun at an event called Vuisten van Vuur in Den Bosch, Netherlands over the weekend, before turtling and getting TKO’ed via WWE-esque shots to the arms and body. He doesn’t even know how to fake fight well.

We used to think that “The Beast” was just getting crappier as he gets older, which astoundingly probably isn’t true either considering he’s only 37 (in Nogueira years, he’s actually around 50), but recently it’s become clear that he’s simply taking more dives than Greg Louganis. The difference is, the Olympic gold medalist actually put some effort into his flops.

We should have been suspicious when Bob was booked for three bouts in six weeks — two of which were against actual fighters Rolles Gracie and James Thompson. I guess he’s just making sure he doesn’t get hurt so he can still get paid to dive another day.

Oh My lord, footage of bob Sapp falling over then quitting, and with all due respect to anyone suggesting Sapp actually attempted a heel hook.....no, just no.........How does Sapp obtain a licence to fight?,honestly, if this is supposed to be legit, who the fuck decides Bob sapp's still up to it? Cecil Peoples blind and deaf alter ego??

Sapp wasn't attempting a leg lock. He was extending his left knee so he can put Duzgun in some kind of guard, but Duzgun had complete control of his posture so Sapp just took a pounding instead. Pretty sad, actually.

@pinkyslayer
Sorry man, I did'nt mean to get anybody mad, I was just thought it looked like he was going for some sort of leg lock.
pinkyslayer- February 29, 2012 at 6:17 pm
not until you said it, now it's all i can picture. And boober, you're a fucking idiot if you think that he was going for a damn heel hook. It's bob fucking sapp.

Did Bob Sapp's attack remind anyone else of Newt Shaw's game winning kick from The Big Green?
djp1988- February 29, 2012 at 3:40 pm
Bob Sapp was simply trying to prove that the top of the human skull is the strongest part of the body.
boober- February 29, 2012 at 2:40 pm
LOL at the thoughts going through Bob's head...."I gotta tap... but he's punching me..... but I gotta tap..."

I did'nt see a dive, he got the takedown then tried for a heel hook or something, then the guy started laying into him... nothing about this seemed fake. Mind you had it been any fighter other than Sapp, I'd probably think something was up.

Shifty eyed, say goodbye to any credibility you had because it's gone now. How does that look like a legit fight to you? Either sapp all of a sudden thinks he's a jiu jitsu ace and actually went for a leg lock.. or he just flopped onto his back from a dominant position, and probably the only position has any hope of winning from, for no apparent reason. Probability of Sapp throwing a fight > probability of sap attacking with a leg lock because he actually thinks he can pull it off.

I hereby call for a Sapp ban.

@Shifty-Eyed Dog: I didn't write this, so I'm not butthurt by your opinion, but how can you look at this fight (particularly in the context of Sapp's career) and think that he really put forth any effort whatsoever? If you want a respected journalist's opinion, I'm not your guy, but you can read what Old Dad had to say about Sapp before this most recent half-hearted travesty: http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/2/13/2796189/please-someone-make-bob-sapp-stop-already
BIGpun22- February 29, 2012 at 12:33 pm
sapp easily had 100+ pounds and 4-5 inches on that guy. could they really be paying him that much to dive? the little guy isnt even in shape...this is sad
shitbag- February 29, 2012 at 12:24 pm
@Shifty-Eyed Dog

You new around here? The day this place becomes a bastion of "journalism" will be a very sad, scary day.
Shifty-Eyed Dog- February 29, 2012 at 11:54 am
looked legit to me. that wasnt a dive, just a sucky fighter. he dove in to take him down, but then started getting pounded on. Those punches looked real. Youre just biased and looking for something to accuse him of. Nice journalism.
knucklesamitch- February 29, 2012 at 11:52 am
Sapp takes punches worse than Lesnar. How the eff is this guy even considered a pro fighter. Side note, if you are a pro fighter, and you've actually LOST a bout to Bob Sapp ... KILL YOURSELF.
