Steroids in MMA

India’s First MMA Promotion Signs Exclusive Deal With Youtube and Their First Main Event is Going to be Epic

(Photographic proof that EVERYTHING in India ends in choreographed dance.)

Their name is Super Fight League, and when you click on the main page of their website, you will immediately be serenaded by a theme song that can only be described as…divine. Seriously, it’s like Eddie Van Halen, Lil Jon, and Sean Paul drank paint thinner, blew coke, and played Star Fox until this song came out. THAT’S HOW EPIC IT IS.

Anyhow, aside from being India’s very first MMA promotion, Super Fight League will also go down in MMA history as the first promotion to sign an exclusive deal with Youtube. Awesome, right? You want to know what’s even more awesome? Their very first card will be headlined by a heavyweight clash between James Thompson and Bob Sapp. Yes, that Bob Sapp.

Check out the awesome promo below.

Well, I’m too amped to sit down. Thanks, India. If this one goes the distance, I’ll eat my hat. SFL 1 is set to transpire on March 11th at the Mumbai, Andheri Sports Complex.

According to the promotion’s recent press release, all SFL fights will be broadcast exclusively from their Youtube channel. Google will have exclusive online and mobile rights to SFL content for the next three years, but will split advertising/sponsorship profit through Youtube with the upstart promotion.

Who do you got for this one, Potato Nation?

But at least now I know about Priya Rai.
Mofo- February 18, 2012 at 6:37 pm
This is so sad. While old dad is telling it like it is, CP is serving up bullshit:
Who do you got on that one, Danganation?
Mofo- February 18, 2012 at 6:34 pm
BTW this guys head was really poorly photoshopped onto someone else's body: MOHAMMED “THE HAWK” SHAHID
Mofo- February 18, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Danga, WTF? The song made me want to claw my ears off with a spork.
You scored points with Monty Python and Opeth, and now you're smoking crack again. How much did India pay you for your absurd praise? This is fucking ridiculous. Every single sentence you wrote was a paid advertisement and a lie.

The only thing that has anything to do with India that I've ever liked is Priya Rai and that fat ass of hers

I love the blanket statement... "martial arts was invented in India" HA!

BTW, looks like Xavier "Professor X" Foupa-Pokam has found a place to break his massive losing streak and try to forget the name Drew McFedries
blaphtome- February 16, 2012 at 6:52 am
Don't sleep on Indians. They have a long and storied history, especially where wrestling is involved. Search Great Gamma or Pehlwani wrestling; some of those dudes went around the world beating everyone.
kangerpang- February 15, 2012 at 7:52 pm
I got the promoter in this one, did you see the way he was holding those two gorillas back?!?!?
Todd M- February 15, 2012 at 7:11 pm
I see you forgot to use sarcastic font in the headline Danga, sheesh didn't we learn anything from yesterday?

All sports in India that are not Cricket are second rate due to the near religious love of the sport those guys have, and before all you yanks start going on about how shit cricket is (I actually think it is too) take a look at baseball and shut the fuck up.
We love Cricket in the land of the meat pie as well, but fuck Aussie's love just about any sport with a ball.. except the crap ones noone else but America plays.. and if you place your stock in someones physique then shit you must not watch much MMA, it means a big fat fuck all
TheHulkSmash- February 15, 2012 at 5:41 pm
I bet IronClad and Bongtar wouldn't say that shit to Satish "Crazy Indian" Jha's face.

Why the obsession with physique? A lot of these guys are pretty cut up, you can see their photos. I bet they throw down in entertaining fashion.
IronClad- February 15, 2012 at 4:44 pm
Hahahah holly shit that is the weakest thing I've ever seen. First of all, Indians dont have muscles...their body is like that of a jelly fish mainly containing a gelatinous mass, secondly the kama sutra is not a sport. Damn it, dot Indians running MMA? That is soooo not epic, seriously, I mean really.
Yazloz18- February 15, 2012 at 4:34 pm
@Bongtar Jim Thorpe???
Though if you have to name what fraction Indian you are then you aren't Indian.
El Guapo- February 15, 2012 at 3:48 pm
If Dhalsim headlines their second event I'll watch. Otherwise, I won't be... Ahhhh, who am I kidding? I'll watch Bob "Slumdog" Sapp throw 30 seconds worth of hayemakers before he either gasses or knocks Colossus the uff out. The replay, at least.
Jackbequick- February 15, 2012 at 3:48 pm
I almost mentioned the Cleveland Indians, but stopped myself just in time. (Phew)
Jackbequick- February 15, 2012 at 3:47 pm

No love for Indians? That dude Dhalsim with the Mr. Fantastic affliction was semi-bad arse. What about Jim Thorpe?? I suppose he was claimed by the Whites in the racial draft??? Isn't Hendo like 1-1000000000000000 some sort of Indian????
Hondo- February 15, 2012 at 3:15 pm
Bongtar, Dan Hornbuckle is Cherokee and has a respectable 22-5 record. He's a very tough, entertaining fighter. Check out some of his highlights on Youtube.
Mister Toad- February 15, 2012 at 3:14 pm
@The12ozCurls Traditional martial arts do actually come from India originally; not east Asia. They were definitely honed and evolved signifigantly into many different styles once it moved into east Asia, but the roots are of Indian origin.
intercept440- February 15, 2012 at 3:02 pm
i bet they have some epic trash talk about each other. things like " Please Sir, do not taaalk to me in that manner my friend.I will make you cry like a goat who has just had his ipad stolen."and then the other guy replies. "Sir, Please, i do not think that you can grasp the futilty of your previous statments, i will indeed be punching you in your face about nose and the eyes, it will be like john cena, YOU Cant SEE Me.." funny shit like that in there fucked up customer service vioce we are all used to hearing when we call about our outsourced credit statements.......fuck you and the camel you rode in on india
BONGTAR- February 15, 2012 at 2:50 pm
And for the record, Indians are notoriously bad at sports. Name one Indian pro in any sport. Whether its Slurpee Indian or Casino Indian, doesn't make a difference.
