Insane Tweets of the Day: Rampage Wants to be Released from the UFC *Now*

Source: @Rampage4real

Looks like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is back on the energy drinks.

When he took to his Twitter page earlier this week to blast the UFC, many of us assumed he was just venting after a difficult loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 144. Well, Rampage is still venting, except now he’s asking for his release from the UFC. In a bizarre twist to an already strange situation, Rampage blames the UFC for the reason he’s lost his desire to fight. And he implies that the desire to keep fighting will somehow come back to him once he walks away from the biggest stage in MMA.

And if you thought that that was strange, consider his next two tweets, both of which in response to fans’ reactions to his initial announcement:

Wait, Rampage is the victim here? You serious? The guy that the UFC bailed out when he went on an energy drink and “The Secret” bender before rampaging through the streets of Orange County? The guy that Dana White stuck with despite initially bailing on a bout with Rashad Evans in order to film a movie, threatening to transition to professional boxing and his questionable treatment of female reporters? That guy?

Makes sense if you don’t think about it at all whatsoever.

If by “better” we mean “more winnable”, then sure. Rampage could certainly smash lesser competition with a lot less resistance than he’s facing in the UFC. But in terms of interesting fights that fans will pay to watch, don’t bother looking for them.

Not that it matters- If Rampage thinks the UFC is cheap, just wait until he sees what the minor league promotions offer their fighters.

But at least he still has that music career to fall back on, right guys?

Red Bull is a helluva drug.

@bootystar - quit posting on CP and get back to painting some happy trees Picasso
bootystar- March 12, 2012 at 7:12 am
it's just a phase of growth, he'll be back, it's in his blood to fight, I quit painting for 3 or 6 months but it bubbles up somehow, often it struggles at bubbling up till the overload happens, maybe right now he's just confused whether he's the 99% or not

Rampage was done a while ago. He bought into his own hype, thought he was bigger than he was. Check out his body composition in the last couple of years compared to his Pride days – there’s a big difference. Did he think he didn’t need to try as hard anymore? It just seems like he’s hanging onto his unusual, unpredictable personality. I won’t knock the guy because he’ll still get in there and take fights but he’s a shadow of his former self.

I thought the TUF series highlighted his true personality and how flawed he is. Considering that Rashad gets a lot of stick for being arrogant, he came off as a much classier guy than Rampage and as the UFC is Rampage-biased, you can guarantee that it was edited to show Rampage in as good as light as possible.

He was an entertaining fighter and now he’s just kind of irritating.

If your not happy with your contract, don't sign it
rampageisgod- March 11, 2012 at 11:24 am
He makes it harder and harder for me to defend him.
Joedirt- March 11, 2012 at 8:35 am
In his defense.. he's not the only fighter that isn't happy with their contracts. Like I said I don't think he has wanted to fight any of his last 5, he's just playing the role. But there are a lot of fighters that come forward against the UFC and their ways. It usually ends with unemployment or court.. then a change of heart suddenly.

He's probably just pissed off because he didn't get his regular 'locker room bonus' this time. Big fucking surprise, Rampage...that's what happens when you show up and can't make weight.

Rampage is the ultimate douche-bag. He thrived as being that obscure "black dude" and never adapted to reality after Pride. His jokes are older then Randy Couture and NO ONE will notice his absence. It's 2012 Rampage. NO one wants to hear the whole "black people have it worse than white people and just taking car of my family." Yadadada! You were gift wrapped a win over Machida, good riddance. Good luck with your $500 purse fighting Brandon Vera in Antarctica.

You heard it here first. Rampage wants to be released from the UFC so he can fight Fedor at a catch weight for M1 !

Buck out!
THE LAMP SMASHER- March 10, 2012 at 6:07 pm
he should just do porn
jimbonics- March 10, 2012 at 5:49 pm
He did. And Sylvia told him about that one time he got 800k to get choked out by Fedor in 30 seconds.
djp1988- March 10, 2012 at 5:45 pm
Rampage should ask Tim Sylvia about all of those better fights.

joedirt is spot on. everyone liked rampage when he was the jacked black dude that wore a chain and leered at the camera like an animal before knocking people out. now, he wants to coast on the strength of his prime. sorry, buddy, but we want to see fights, and we want to see hungry, dedicated fighters, not half-baked movie stars that want the best of both worlds while not doing the work to succeed in either endeavor. The ufc is either going to set him up with a can for his last fight, or just let him drift into obscurity like he wants. i say good riddance.
Joedirt- March 10, 2012 at 5:32 pm
I think he should suck it up... he has 1 fight left on his contract... get focused and go out with a bang. Put on a good show and then if he wants to retire or take on easier competition in a semi retired role... or act in B movies... whatever.
Australian Mantis- March 10, 2012 at 5:30 pm
Getting taken to court over something will make you sour and i think its hard to swallow for Rampage just because of who he is. Im pretty sure he was treated like royality over in Japan with Pride while he was in his prime. I think hes done his bit for MMA and hope he goes out respectfully and doesnt keep trying to blame everyone else for shit thats gone wrong. Still has the best slam knockout that ive seen and theres been a few.
Joedirt- March 10, 2012 at 5:13 pm
Everyone seems to forget he and the UFC were in court after he bailed on the Rashad fight to film a movie. At the time he said he wasn't going to return to fighting. Then... he signs a 6 fight contract with the UFC and suddenly the court case disappears. At this point with 1 fight left on his contract it can't be about money because that fights pay will have already been negotiated. But looking at his fights since signing that contract... am I the only one that wonders if he even wants to fight? If I had to bet I'd say he was going to lose in court... signed the deal because it was the best way to solve the issue... but actually hasn't been interested in fighting all along.

...Is this real life?
Kim Couture is a cunt- March 10, 2012 at 4:46 pm
Didn't this whiny annoying fuckin goof show up on the countdown in a lime green Lamborghini? And the UFC isn't paying him? Sorry fuckstick, most business owners/presidents and founders make more than their employees. Go away you tough but annoying little whiny bitch. Cry me a river.
ArmFarmer- March 10, 2012 at 4:24 pm
The ufc didn't take his will to fight.. fighters that are better than him did. He's just looking for somewhere to place blame. I've never liked rampage, hopefully they do just cut him lose. Guy is an idiot and a bad representative of the sport.
fatbellyfrank- March 10, 2012 at 4:11 pm
Enjoyed watching ya, but if thats what you want, dont let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Wish someone would treat me as bad as UFC treats Rampage, sheesh, delusional much there Quinton. And Kimbo Slice would have made a much better BA Baracus
AndyInflammatory- March 10, 2012 at 3:07 pm
Hey Wes Godfrey...treated like WHAT exactly?

Title shots? Headline fights?

Honestly, some people just want to suck a fighters dick on Twitter. Fucking enablers.

Just release him and let him go back to Japan where the competition is easier.
