(Props to Fightlinker for the zoom on Stevenson’s red geyser.)
Joe Stevenson recently chatted with FightHype about his uber-bloody loss (via submission to BJ Penn) at last weekend’s UFC 80. When asked how he thought he did, Joe Daddy had this to say:
I think I did good. I just got cut. I think it was getting better and better for me and sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you.
Or sometimes the bear just kicks your ass. And shame on all of you who thought Joe Daddy was crying like Bob Sapp after the loss. Here’s what he has to say to you:
I saw the tape and it looked like I was crying, but I had something in my eye…my blood (laughing).
I know every time something gets in my eye, I look like an eight-year-old who just witnessed his dog getting hit by a car. Come on! Admit you were crying! We believe you weren’t crying as much as we believe when you said the elbow from BJ “didn’t hurt”.
Regardless if he’s a crier or not, Joe Daddy seems to have gained even more fans and support on the MMA message boards since his showing against “The Prodigy”. Frank Trigg has even said Joe Daddy is the second best lightweight after Penn. Thanks for weighing-in “Twinkle Toes”, you’ve obviously been swimming in bourbon.
Though after that fight he clearly is not the second best lightweight, Stevenson has vowed to come crying storming back – but not for a few months.
“I just opened up a new school here in my hometown of Victorville and I want to take about 5 months off before my next fight. I want to do everything right. I got another baby on the way with my beautiful wife. I want to keep everything in line and go out there with no distractions.”
You know what’s a really good distraction? Blood in the eye.

commentsI dont know why he lied about crying though, its not like crying in MMA is a big deal. GSP, BJ, Roger Huerta they all cried, no shame in crying!
"this dude is a complete moron… he pretty much writes provoking articles to get people coming back here for more. it works, but his opinion is worth regurgitated dog shit.
you make me sick."
QFT
you make me sick.
right now only Jens Pulver comes to mind after he won his UFC title. He was crying like the title was taken away from him instead of being happy.
He's not the only one crying like a girl after winning, lots of "tough" guys go it
And ALSO, was just curious to see an outcome where Joe admits things got WORSE and WORSE instead of better and better
I am not knocking Joe, but he got his ass handed to him. He really needs to admit it. ALSO, there is no need to lie when over a million people saw him crying after the fight. PLAIN and simple he was crying...SO WHAT, no big deal, you dont have to lie, ESPECIALLY when it is obvious and it was televised.
Gozillaad: people get injured and don't feel it all the time, but supposed tough guys that ball their eyes out after a beating lie about it all the time as well. :-)
Full disclosure: I tear up every time I get punched in the nose. It's an automatic thing: one pop, I'm crying. I blame my stupid sinuses, but it could also be that I'm a wus.
By the way, the elbow may not have hurt. People get small bloody impact abrasions on their head all the time and don't feel pain. I know, I worked in an emergency room.
