New York, NY, May 28, 2009 – Former UFC light heavyweight champions “Suga” Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will serve as coaches for Season 10 of “The Ultimate Fighter” premiering Wednesday, September 16 at 10:00pm, it was announced today by Dana White, UFC President. This season will showcase 16 heavyweights, the first time this weight class has been featured on “The Ultimate Fighter” since Evans himself was a cast member on Season 2...This season marks the second time the charismatic Jackson has served as a coach for “The Ultimate Fighter” as he opposed Forrest Griffin for Season 7 last April.
“The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” will feature the two fan favorites coaching the best up and coming mixed martial artists in the heavyweight division. Two finalists will square off in a live finale on December 5 in Las Vegas with the winner being declared “The Ultimate Fighter®” and netting a six figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship®, the premier mixed martial arts organization in the world.
Production on “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” begins in Las Vegas in early June and will last six weeks. The series will once again be hosted by UFC President Dana White. “The tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter is going to be the most highly anticipated one in years, and with two of the greatest pound for pound fighters in the world today, both of which have personalities as large as their skill-sets, it promises to deliver,” said White.
Okay, so we're calling Evans "Suga" now, and not "Sugar." Fair enough. What's really strange is that Quinton Jackson actually chose this fight over an immediate title shot. CageWriter has audio of the TUF 10 announcement press conference, in which Rampage explains the decision:
"I had my mind set to fight Evans," said Jackson. "I was actually there coaching (at UFC 98) trying to get him to win the fight...I want Evans, he got in my face (at UFC 96), right after my fight. That was the wrong time to get in my face."
He also delivers the classic schoolyard line "Rashad's ass is grass and I'm the lawnmower." (Can't wait for more zingers like that on the show!) Dana says that the next season of TUF will have big surprises — for real this time — and might be the highest-rated season of all time. Meanwhile, Lyoto Machida won't be fighting at UFC 103, but his next opponent and fight date will be announced soon.
Hopefully Rashad will regain consciousness before the taping starts. My eleven year old quoted Rashed as saying, "I think I have a tooth in my spine," after he watched Machida knock him out.

Dana has always said Kimbo could only make it into the UFC through TUF house. I am willing to bet that is his secret. Seeing as this is a heavyweight season, and how Kimbo has been MIA for so long. I also see them having either Rampage or Rashad punk him for acting hard at a certain point. Then at the end they will try to play up how much Kimbo has progressed.

I wonder who's gonna get the shot at Machida for the belt now, my money is on Shogun, stylistically I think he has the best chance out of any of the 205'ers to beat Machida. And if you think about it, since being ranked the #1 light heavyweight, he's only lost to Forrest Griffin who went on to become the champ, so in hindsight that wasn't that bad of a loss, also considering he was fighting on a bum knee.

Who the UFC should have fight for the LHW strap in order...1.Jackson =TUF10 2.Evans for immediate rematch=TUF 10 3.Griffin=UFC 101 against Anderson Silva 4.Rua... So yes all signs point to Shogun being next to face Machida. The real question is why the top 3 contenders for the LHW belt are booked up to fight the MW champ and do reality television? I don't get why they are tying their best LHW like this and making the MW's wait for their next shot on this Silva vs. Griffin fight. Hopefully they could make Rua vs. Machida happen before the end of summer or early fall.
