Jardine to Face Prangley on September 11 Shark Fights Card

(The pair will square off on the aptly named "Shark Fights: Pretty Boys" card)

Recently released UFC veteran Keith Jardine didn’t stay long testing the waters of free agency.

According to a report from Loretta Hunt of Sherdog, "The Dean of Mean" has signed with the fledgling Texas-based Shark Fights organization and will make his debut against the promotion’s light heavyweight champion, Trevor Prangley in a non-title affair September 11 in Lubbock, Texas.

0-4 in his last four UFC appearances, Jardine (15-8-1) will be looking to string together a few wins to earn his ticket back to the Octagon, but facing Prangley (22-6-1) definitely isn’t the easy route to his desired destination.

The 38-year-old South African fighter who was BodogFight’s only middleweight champion has only lost twice in the past three years, with his most recent blemish coming against Tim Kennedy at Strikeforce: Los Angeles last month and has beaten the likes of Andrei Semenov, Chael Sonnen, Matt Horwich and Travis Lutter.

Jardine is no slouch himself, having beaten an equally impressive laundry list of opponents during his stint in the UFC including Brandon Vera, Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Wilson Gouveia.

The promotion is expected to announce several other marquee match-ups in the coming weeks.

But isn't training for this fight gonna take time away from his lucrative side gig as Dean of the prestigious Mean University?

I feel like I've been watching Jardine fight in the UFC for so long now that it's depressing to have to watch him go back to the minors and work his way back up after being violently put to sleep so many times. I have no interest in seeing him fight anymore, sort of like how I felt about Chuck's last 2 fights. Watch a highlight reel of him being finished by H. Alexander, Wandy, T. Silva and Bader, and then tell me you still want to see this guy in a cage / ring.

Time to watch Jardine sky-rocket in the blogosphere rankings now he's outside the UFC.

Jardine vs. Prangley: Four fists. Two warriors. One cage. Zero areolas.

Skeletor,.....hate to tell you that was actually biteralex's weird cross dressing brother.....Pat.
Queef Sardine, really needs to learn a new stand-up style as FreddyFangers eluded to earlier,...I am surprised he didn't get KO'd more often. If he doesn't, he will end up talking like James Toney,....unintelligible.

weird but I never had that problem with your sister.
bitteralex- July 13, 2010 at 7:15 pm
why would you fight the champ in a non-title bout...

that's like going on a date with your sister and not making out.

Let me get this right...Jardine, a big light heavyweight that cuts a good amount of weight will be fighting a natural middleweight that is a local promotion's light heavyweight champion. The way Prangley plods forward directly in front of his opponent, Jardine should kick the shit out of his legs.... So Jardine by TKO in the 2nd round by leg kicks.

Jardine is like that guy on the wrestling team that always gave it his all, dieted the right way, did extra work, lifted on his off time and did great in school BUT NEVER WON A MEDAL IN A TOURNAMENT. We all know what I am talkin about and he fits the bill perfectly. Its a good thing the UFC sent hm back to the JV squad instead of watching him get smashed by real varsity guys.

I think Jardine has this fight for sure. Great way to bounce back with a legit winnable fight.
FreddyFangers- July 13, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Hopefully Jardine will drastically restyle his standup...

should be all right. Two high level-mid level LHW's. Jardine should enjoy a good size and reach advantage, and Prangley should enjoy a fighting against people I love watching get knocked out advantage. The only thing I don't like about this fight is Jardine has a more then better chance of winning.

prangley by first round ko.
