Jared Shaw Apologizes for Cageside Freakout

(Even Hulk Hogan finds that behavior boorish. Thanks, MMA Core.)

As you can see, Elite XC VP Jared Shaw is very passionate about the rules. Almost fanatically so. That’s why when he saw what he perceived to be an illegal blow to the back of Kimbo Slice‘s head, he couldn’t contain himself. He jumped up and went screaming to the side of the cage, imploring the referee to give Kimbo a Frank Mir-type rescue. Fortunately he stopped just short of leaping over the cage and covering Kimbo with his own body like a human $kala shield.

Now that he’s had a chance to cool down, he admits he may have overreacted. Shaw told MMA Rated:

“I watched the tape back today,” Shaw said. “While I think that the ref may have missed the (blow to the back of the head) call, my reactions at ringside – I saw them myself – were inappropriate and inexcusable.

“I apologize to the MMA community and the fans and most of all Seth Petruzelli as although my reactions can not change a referee’s decision, they were inappropriate at the time and over a heated and tense mixed martial arts event.”

“Again, I apologize to the community,” Shaw repeated. “I am all for fair mixed martial arts fighting and I am very happy to represent Seth Petruzelli.”

Well, at least Shaw is big enough to admit when he’s wrong. You can understand how a man being forced to watch his meal ticket unceremoniously felled like that could lose control of his emotions. As impressive as his desire for fair competition is, it’s hard to imagine Shaw mustering the same enthusiasm for a protest if the situation had been reversed and it were Petruzelli who caught a hammer fist in the back of the dome. Although that could change now that Elite XC is in the Seth “Rocky” Petruzelli business. I hear he’s a very promotable guy.

"I am all for fair mixed martial arts fighting and I am very happy to represent Seth Petruzelli" Now that is a good one. Really Jared? Is that why Petruzelli is saying today that you did not want him to take Kimbo down in the fight and gave him six figures to make sure it didn't happen? What a joke.

Nice punch line to the article!

Fair?? That's why they matched a light heavyweight against a true heavyweight (even before Seth "No Homo" Petruzelli). I don't think so, buddy!

Watch Hogan (sitting next to $kala) he leans back when Jarad starts freaking out.
You know it's bad when a Pro-Wrestler actuall backs up during a freak out.
I saw that during the fight and kept rewinding it just to see him jump up and freak out. Like father like son I guess!

I don't think kimbos XCs meal ticket elite XCs got some good fighters and puts on some good fights. he might be hyped up but any real mma fans aren't stupid enough to believe the hype we know kimbos place and his skill level i like watching his fights nonetheless. if the UFC keeps refusing to sighn the talent they should, leaving most of the best fighters in the world out there, Elite Xc and other promotions working together should do all right. as for shaw nothing wrong with getting a lil excited over a fight, thats the point right. as a VP you probally got more of a reason to have a favorite than the usual fan.

Im on vacation in Hawaii right now and yet the whole Kimbo being beaten down and Jared Shaw freaking out ringside is the best thing ive seen all week.

I took liberty of updating Kimbo's Career History on the CageWiki page. Check it out for some chuckles. Someone hadn't put in his crappy fight against Thompson... Thompson through the RIP. Check it.

Dammit people, Rocky fucking lost!

While I enjoyed the other fights on the card. Jared shaw is garbage. Dana only smiled and shrugged as Lidell got iced. You know if they would give Kimbo decent opponents then I think we (the Fans) would take him more seriously. There is nothing wrong with losing an MMA fight as long as you lose to a tough fighter. You fight the best to be recognized as the best. As long as Kimbo fights old men and has beens no real fans of MMA will like him.

I watched that interview with Shaw. What a fucking liar. Dodgy eye contact and if you watch closely you'll see his nose grow
