Jared Shaw Emerges From Hiding, Tells Kimbo He Should Have Gone Into Boxing

(Props: MMA Fanhouse)

"Can [Kimbo Slice] be a successful heavyweight? I don’t think so. I think 100% he’s in the wrong weight class, that’s to begin with…But I don’t necessarily think Kimbo can get to 205, at 35 years of age, with the wear and tear. It’s tough to learn this sport, this sport is a lot different than boxing because with boxing you only have to use your hands. In mixed martial arts, you use your hands, your feet, you grapple on the ground, you use submissions. That is a lot of knowledge to retain, and at some point your body starts to shuts down on you in life…Kimbo’s in the wrong sport, there’s no doubt about that. Kimbo should be in boxing…If you want to be the best of the best, if you want to make the most money possible for your family like you say, then you probably should have went to the square-circle."

So says former EliteXC VP Jared "$kala" Shaw, who has now been out of the MMA game for over a year, and recently checked in for an interview with Fanhouse. Despite the criticism of Kimbo’s career choices, Shaw harbors no ill will towards the TUF 10 star, and is proud of the time he spent promoting fighters like Slice, Gina Carano, and Brett Rogers — and if the UFC or Strikeforce wants to give him a job, he’s totally down. It’s a more reflective, slightly-less-cocky version of $kala than we’re used to seeing, even when he’s indirectly taking credit for Gina’s budding movie career. Later in the interview, Shaw tells us that his music is coming along, and he hopes to drop it on us next year. Also, Herschel Walker is a joke, and Bob Arum is an embarassment to the Jewish race. Pot, meet thrifty, lactose-intolerant kettle…

yeah what im saying is dont be a halfass know it all. if someone wants to sit around and talk to me like they know everything about mma but they only watch the ufc then i have a problem with that. if that person only watches the ufc then all the have to say is all i know about is the ufc. do you get what i'm saying??

you are exactly right if someone only watches 1 or 2 teams then they cant sit here and talk about all the games just because they watched sports center the next morning. step your game up son! and get the ticket or are you that guy that doesnt even order ppv events?

no i'm not 12. but i ask myself about you using the name or a wizard! or demon raiser or whatever! take off the halo headset, put away your magic cards and start watching some tape!!!

if you need to i can recommend some very good fights even if you only want ufc!

Wow, just wow. So you're willing to drop a friendship with people because they didn't wish to spend their extra time in the way you wanted them to. If someone wishes to be just more a casual MMA fan and just watch the UFC than that is their choice. Doesn't mean they aren't "passionate" about the sport or that they don't "enjoy" it as much as you, but you're such an elitist prick you don't wish to speak to someone because they don't want to spend their time watching B-level MMA. LOL

Is everyone who primarily watches maybe just 1-2 football teams not worthy of fandom because they dont watch EVERY game every weekend?

You're a colossal idiot. How old are you, 12?

maybe it's just me, but did anyone else think that Jared Shaw was extremely well spoken, humble, and actually smart in this interview??

i understand what your saying, but my point is if your really a fan of mma you should watch fights no matter what organization there in. a good fight is a good fight.
if your a real fan of mma you know who the top fighters are, and there not all in the ufc. also you need to follow the up and coming guys who are fighting there way up to the ufc. for example i have been watching GSP scince he fought in the UCC i think UCC 7 was his first in 2002. he comes out and rolls off three first round finishes. everybody knew that this was a good ass fighter and wanted to see where his carrer goes.

you dont have to call me sir, daddy is fine.

Translation: You're one year, nine days too late to have an MMA fight, Herschel.

Dexter, not everyone who is a fan of MMA has to watch all the ORGS you mentioned above.

UFC is paving the way for MMA to become mainstream. It's only because of the UFC that these other ORGS are emerging and able to put on the fights they do.

If you choose your friends on what they sir are a tool.

shaw is right about a lot that he said from the business side of things. i have been a die hard mma fan for over ten years and until the last couple i felt like i was in the closet. nobody to talk to about fights, fighters ect. i always remind my friends to watch hdnet mma show, dream, strikeforce, all mma that is on tv, turn them on to websites like the BEST C.P.! and still there are many that just want to talk ufc. i am not joking when i say that i have lost friends because they make me so sick with there narrowness. i always say that i dont give a fuck if the fights are in the desert, its about the matchups. look at the fighters and who there fighting, not if they are fighting in the ufc or dream or whatever.
i know the ufc is the best promotion, has most of the best fighters yadayada. but there are a lot of guys out there you need to keep your eye on.
watch as much mma as you can look at as many websites as you can. the more we support our sport the more mainstream we can get and dont have to use marketing tools like kimbo slice to get people to watch.

Kimbo would have less of a chance in boxing. An average pro boxer would rip him up.
