Strikeforce’s monumental "Carano vs. Cyborg" card may have lost another title fight. Earlier this week, the scheduled heavyweight championship bout between Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum went up in smoke due to Overeem’s infected hand. Now, it appears that the rematch between Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs — which would have decided Strikeforce’s first welterweight champion — could be off as well. According to GracieFighter (via FiveOuncesofPain):
GracieFighter, of course, is operated by Nick Diaz’s trainer Cesar Gracie, which should explain that subtle "physical or mental" dig. (It also has us wondering if this is really a troll-job, just to screw with Riggs’s head before the fight. You can never be sure these days.) There has been no confirmation from Riggs himself yet. We’ll keep you posted…

Joe Riggs & Drugs? I've heard that before and that isn't good. How come Nick Diaz isn't challenging the CA Athletic commission saying he's smoking everyday again?

This sport seems to be infected with unprofessional people, that truly have no business being professional athletes. Case in point, on the same card, Overeem has to bail out due to an infected hand from a street fight, and Riggs bails out for suspicious drug activity. This week we also find out that Barnett is out of his fight for steroid use. Ridiculous.

Break News Cyborg has now pulled out of the fight with Carano as well! She is will still be recovering in the hospital from her sex change operation. Hey-Yooo! Get it?? She's a man and her balls are as big as her adams apple.

Glad to see these geniuses are at least being detected. Who would have thought that the sport of MMA would attract some less than upstanding citizens. There are many professional athletes, practitioners of martial arts in MMA who respect and honor the sport, but there are just as many dicks who just like to fight and have some athletic ability and a marginal understanding of some aspect of some martial art.

@ JP it wasn't a street fight, Overeem was helping out his brother who got jumped by security guards.

Nick Diaz vs Fedor, make it happen.
Fri, 07/24/09 - 09:09
Three things,.... 1. @ CJ vs CP - Dude.......learn to write, spell, speak, something that won't take away from your already unfunny post. 2. @ Fiction - Not the kind of coat tails you want to ride bro. And 3. @ Ceeph - That's a street fight.
Fri, 07/24/09 - 10:28
@ Ceeph Call it what you want, it's still a street fight. And are you really naive enough to believe that people get "jumped" by security guards for no reason? The bottom line is, he was in a bar, and got into a fight. If guys like Overeem want to be respected as professional athletes, then they need to be far more repsonsible and stop this kind of shit. If you are a professional MMA fighter, you have to be a fucking moron if you are getting involved in street fights. They should pull Overeem's belt from him, and move on. If Overeem gets his shit together, then he can fight to get the title back. If Strikeforce did this, then maybe guys like Overeem would start to take their sport seriously. Thankfully the sport has true athletes, and true ambassadors, that take professional MMA seriously. Guys like St. Pierre, Machida, Couture, A. Silva, W. Silva, Griffin, etc. Even fighters that are a-holes, like Lesnar, at least respect the sport enough to take is seriously.

This is the same arguement you get in the NBA. I personally don't see why a fighter has to act like a professional. Salesmen have to act professional to gain trust to get orders/sales...whatever, it equals money. Fighters just have to be great fighters and a good draw to make their loot. If acting like a great guy and an ambassador of the sport (The Natural) or a gigantical cock - rhinocerous looking fag hole ( you know..) puts asses in seats and racks up pay-per-view numbers, then that's how a particular fighter needs to act. It's a natural system of checks and balances, it goes like this: Stupid decision -> Can't fight -> Can't get paid. The only people "acting professional" are the crooks that control the sport and rake in mad loot off the sweat of the fighters. That's called working smart, not hard. And acting professionally has been their camoflage for years.
