Jon Jones to Beat Sh*t Out of Chael Sonnen April 27th in Newark, NJ

(Hey, that reminds me…please remember to vote today!)

The hilariously nonsensical light-heavyweight title match between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen just got a venue. UFC officials confirmed yesterday that Sonnen’s public execution will take place at UFC 159, April 27th at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

It’ll be the UFC’s fourth appearance at the Prudential Center, where Jones first became light-heavyweight champion by tearing apart Mauricio Rua in March 2011. If Jones defeats Sonnen in April — which he absolutely, positively will, and I’m willing to bet my whole blogger purse on it — he will tie Tito Ortiz’s UFC record for consecutive light-heavyweight title defenses (5).

Jones vs. Sonnen will follow the fighters’ coaching stints on TUF 17, which will surely put the sport in a good light and won’t at all be an embarrassment to all humanity. So start saving that cash, Tri-State Area residents. You don’t want to miss history.

I like Chael, and I don't like seeing him lose, but he will lose and I'll leave Buffalo Wild Wings in a bad mood

I will pop all the pimples on Sonnen's back if he wins. I think there's a better chance that Bones ends Sonnen's career than Sonnen winning this fight. I can't wait.

Silly people still think taking down Anderson = taking down Jones. Anderson has been taken down many times, by shittier fighters than Sonnen. The only reason people think Anderson has great take down defense is because the bjj rats couldn't get him down. BJJ grapplers get taken to school by wrestlers in terms of takedowns 99.99% of the time. Not even comparable.. take downs are almost meaningless in competitive bjj and essential in wrestling. Anderson has no competitive wrestling background and has been taken down many times, and Jones is a lot bigger and has never been taken down in mma. Jones will shut Sonnen down and beat the snot out of him, and I will hate every minute of it.

I don't think Chael will win, but he doesn't have to win the fight to come out a winner here. So - WAR SONNEN!

Didn't he beat a ring rusted Shogun coming off his 3rd knee surgery and almost a year layoff? Yep, that's impressive.

It'll either be one of the biggest upsets in UFC history or, more likely, one of the biggest beat downs in UFC history (although the fact that they appear to be on friendly terms right now worries me a little that Jones will go easy on him). Either way it should be good. Hopefully the rest of the card doesn't blow.

Last time Jones was in Newark was at UFC 128, he beat the ever living fuck out of Shogun. Good times.

Shifty-Eyed Dog- November 6, 2012 at 8:39 am
So much for impartial journalism.

Can the opinionated commentary and just report the news. Plus I think Sonnen will win, and you will look like an idiot anyway.

Coincidentally, it is also the season final of Bully Beatdown.
