Cain could be the next guy to dominate at LHW but he will never be the guy who dominates at heavyweight.

I'd like to thank Bader for saving us from that fight. I wasn't really excited about it anyway. Jones needs a serious step up in compteition or at least a big name like Tito to smash. Another wrestler or a non-top 10 guy really seems like a waste of time at this point.

That's one of the intrigues about the Lesnar vs Velaquez fight. Cain isn't a particularly large HW, but he's fast, has good wrestling, and a near infinite gas tank.

How exactly has Cain been protected by the UFC? Just curious. Rothwell, Big Nog, Kongo are all legitimate fighters in which he destroyed. Lesnar might indeed be too big for him but I think it's going to be a very interesting fight. Cain is quick and is improving very well with his standup, Lesnar on the other hand has the standup of a 16 year old girl. If Cain can stop most of Lesnar's takedowns and take him to the later (3-5 rounds) it's all over. OVEEER. But I'm not betting on that fight. Cain would be scary at 205.

As for Bader, yeah I hear he has some wedding/new gym to open. Sounds bunk. I want to see Jones fight soon.

Look behind the people in the picture. They are standing on steps, and Cain is obviously standing on the steps toward the bottom. They're not on the same level ground.

It's not as though the fight won't happen-- it's just a question of whether it will happen on the New Year's Eve card or not. My understanding is that Bader's getting married at the end of the month and then has plans for a 2-week honeymoon. If he won't get back until mid-November, maybe he feels a month and a half to get ready isn't enough even if you take the gym opening out of the picture. That doesn't constitute "ducking" Jones to me. I'll be very, very surprised if they don't fight by mid-2011 at the latest (depending upon if they end up with other opponents and how those fights go, of course.)

So Jones gets who next, then, if not Bader? Brilz?? Winner of Machida/Rampage. Not likely. My hopes of Bader going to the hospital are now diminishing.

Weddings are a big deal as is opening a business. The dude is entitled to a life, the fight with Bones can wait a little longer if it has to I think I think.

I live a couple miles from Almeida's school and I dont remember anyone talking badly about him for taking a few years off to get his business going - we're obviously not talking three years for Bader here. Cut the dude some slack.

I honestly think that Dana realized this fight is a terrible promotional move. Jones is an up and coming superstar whose fan base is growing with every fight. Jones has an exciting style that draws in viewers - a potential goldmine if he continues to dominate his opponents. But, if Dana gives him a title shot too early or makes him fight someone that is good enough to make Jones NOT shine (e.g., a good wrestler like Bader), then Jones' "next-generation of fighter" image takes a huge hit. If he lets Jones fight a few more "less difficult" fights, Jone's image gets more elevated, fan base grows even bigger, and cash potential for UFC grows. On the other hand, Bader normally flies under the radar, but now that he's building an undefeated record in the UFC, he's getting more attention. From this point forward, every additional win will give Bader a little more star status and increases Bader's marketing potential for the UFC. Throwing Bader into a potentially dangerous fight with Jones too early jeopardizes this undefeated status. So, best case scenario if these two fight is that one superstar continues and the other takes a hit. A fight with this sort of consequence should be left for mega-title fights where the fan base is already established for the fighters.

I want to see Bones Jones fight Anderson Silva. Why not? It would be a step up for each guy in the LHW division, and we'd see just how good each of them are at that weight.

I think giving guys like Hardy a title shot or Lesner a title shot before they had shown any true standings in the UFC was far more off base then giving Jones a top contender to eat up and spit out. Precisely Jeeves....Cain will end up at light heavyweight, he has been protected so far pretty well by the UFC, but Lesnar is gonna mop the floor with him and then maybe Carwin will get him and send him down to 205...then we will have the fitch/koscheck thing at 205 with Cain/Bader not wanting to fight each other..can't wait.

If I were Bader, I would be scared to fight Jones too, especially after how he looked against lil Nog.

I went to the Mayan Riviera for my honeymoon and everyone down there is the size of that dude. They called me "El Gigante" all week at the resort. Even if Bader's 220 in that pic, I'm 6'-1" 290. It felt like I was walking around an elementary school.
