Jones and Evans Go Back and Forth at UFC 145 Presser [VIDEO]

It only took UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones around 10 minutes yesterday to fire his first shot at number one contender and former teammate Rashad Evans at the pre-UFC 145 press conference in Atlanta.

Responding to a question about how he seemed confident that he would beat Evans after watching “Suga’s” performance against Phil Davis in the main event of last month’s UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis event, “Bones” said that he doesn’t feel that Rashad has really improved since he left Team Jackson to join The Blackzilians.

“I expected a lot in the fight. There was this whole Rashad 2.0 thing that was getting started and his first fight in a new camp. His body looked better and you saw some differences in his game. In [the Davis fight] I just didn’t see any progressions, whatsoever,” Jones explained, much to the delight of reporters looking for a juicy soundbite. “I’m honest. I’m really honest. It inspired me. It made me happy about what I saw. I said, ‘Wow, if that athlete shows up on April 21 it’s going to be an interesting night.’ It’s like your competitor reporter and he’s not doing his job well, it’s just like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be great.’ I’m excited.”

Evans took umbrage with Jones’ statement and claimed that the young champ might be hiding his true feelings about fighting his old training partner.

“I don’t know. I seen something different. I read body language a little bit. I studied psychology, and if you see Jon, the way he’ll swivel in that chair, he couldn’t keep still. He kept… It was like he was Stevie Wonder for a minute. He couldn’t keep still. He can say what he want to, but he already know what time it was. He knows it’s not going to be an easy fight,” Evans said. “He knows it’s going to be the hardest fight of his career. He knows that coming into this fight because he competed against me before. He already felt what I have, so he can say what he wants to about how I compete against somebody else, but he already know what time it is when we go together.”

With no love lost between these two, it should make for an interesting fight on April 21.

Hey Drano, Do you have real-life friends? The kind you can see face-to-face, in person? Because, see, most people do not care enough about anonymous strangers on an MMA blog to remember whether or not they typed nasty things about them "a few threads back," much less bring it up later like a slighted girlfriend. Oh yeah, and I hope Evans wins.

sounds to me like you must live those words, how sad you have no friends online or in life.
See I complain cause I DO have them, it seems you bring all this up cause maybe you don't. It's called projecting...look it up. Thanks for interjecting your asinine comment into my life.

Hey sparrow when you say BIRD is the word you really mean RACIST is the word huh?

Jon Jones acts like a whiney brat. That's why I don't like him. He almost threw a temper tantrum after he beat Shogun and they let Rashad in the cage. He just comes off as a fake, childish baby. That's why I don't like him. Hopefully he'll outgrow his weight class soon enough and move up to heavyweight, where my guess is he'd be mediocre.

Am I really the only one who wants to see Rashad get KTFO or choked unconscious?! I didn't realize the Jones hate was so strong. People say cocky, I just see confidence. Which makes sense because he's demolished every single person he's fought. I would imagine that gives you some confidence. Not sure where Rashad's comes from, though. Like RSparrow said, Jones would have made Davis look like a chump, and Rashad didn't do anything special at all against him. I agree with Jones - if the same Rashad that fought Davis shows up, it's gonna be an easy night for Bones.

Doesn't really matter to me who wins, I'm comfortable in saying we'd all love to see Hendo walking around with the strap

Fuck - the only way I'm happy with the outcome of this fight is if it's a double KO, and Jones is stripped of the title somehow.

which ever fighter engages in the fight will lose due to counters, & the fighter who takes least damage & evades the attack will win
ArmFarmer- February 17, 2012 at 9:57 am
Davis has a similar reach and build as Jones, and evans had no problem dealing with it. I know they aren't on the same level, just sayin. He did fine with the last tall, lanky, athletic black wrestler dude. I think jones has more of an arsenal standing, and he utilized his strengths perfectly against hampage, but I really hope Evans ends this dude. Jones getting gnp'd to the point of tko would be ideal.
RSparrow- February 17, 2012 at 9:55 am
Chump*. Fuck, well ya whatever
doowm- February 17, 2012 at 9:54 am
I've said the same thing Rashad was saying since the first time Jones was supposed to fight him and all of a sudden "needed surgery" on his hand, Rashad gets booked to fight someone else and "surgery's not needed" all of a sudden (*never did get that hand fixed did he?*)

Bottom Line: The thought of fighting Rashad makes Jone's nervous. You can read it like a book in his body language (*and actions*) just like Rashad said!
RSparrow- February 17, 2012 at 9:53 am
Jones would have made Phil Davis look like a chimp
The12ozCurls- February 17, 2012 at 9:50 am
Hey CP - has Jones been put on his back yet? If he has I can't think of it. Rashad has KO power but if he stands with Bones, the reach advantage will eventually be Suga's downfall. So the way I see it, the only way Rashad can win is to take him down and GNP. Thoughts . . . . . . . . . ?
The12ozCurls- February 17, 2012 at 9:46 am
Bones really has demonstrated a phenomenal skill set but that being said, he is one arrogant mo-fo. I know fighters have to be confident but he really does come off as an asshole IMO.
knucklesamitch- February 17, 2012 at 9:40 am
No chance Jones doesn't win.
ThePeoplesTroll- February 17, 2012 at 9:27 am
lets go evans! if you dont beat jones no one will.

I'll say it...i hope Rashad knocks jones right off his high horse...i like jones but i think he got way ahead of himself an needs a reality check...

Jones: You're black. Evans: No, you're black. Jones: No, you are. Evans: I know you are, but what am I...
