Justice is Served: Fighter Who Scored TKO After Being Choked Unconscious Has Win Overturned to NC

A few months ago, we ran a story about the above fight between Justin Kristie and David Baxter at Warrior Nation XFA 3, in which Kristie choked Baxter unconscious as the first round buzzer rang only to have Baxter be revived by the ringside physicians and allowed to continue, ultimately resulting in an unbelievable second round TKO win for Baxter. And while the events that transpired were oddly humorous on a surface level (you know, in a David Carradine sort of way), there was no denying that a serious injustice had been carried out before our very eyes.

Well Nation, you will be happy to know that the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission recently overturned Baxter’s victory to a no contest. It’s an unfortunate turn of events for Baxter, but in reality, he should just be thankful that he walked away from the whole ordeal without the loss he deserved. Unfortunately, the referee who allowed this fight to continue was not taken behind a barn and beaten senseless with a mahogany cane, which is the real travesty here.

Do you agree with the athletic commissions call, Potato Nation?

The referee that royally screwed up faced no consequences, the deserving fighter didn't get the win, and a fighter that through no fault of his own fought back from being choked unconscious to miraculously win by tko was robbed of his win months after the fact. No justice has been served.

Danga, if you can tell me you didn't just rip this entire column from the UG, which posted the story about an hour before you did, I'll eat my underwear.

Eat your underwear? Was your foot not satisfying enough?

I kid, I kid. And besides, they lifted the original story from CP and didn't credit us, so they had it comin'.

@KarmaAteMyCat,

Dude... you still rock the Gameboy? If so, that's awesome... but you should upgrade to a Nintendo DS. The first game on your list should be "High School Musical 2: Work It Out". It's either the best or worst game of all time... but it depends on your level of gay.

@BigDaddyD;

Is that a crack at me playing the gameboy before I compete or are you being serious?

He wasn't unconscious he was just resting. Like that hooker I've got in my trunk.

Pen Fifteen should get a job determining whether cagepotato should run a story or not lol

Good call by the commission. That ref should be dick slapped for letting the fight go past the 1st.

Hey Karma,
Don't you love it when people make comments that are in no way, shape, or form correct? Me too.
Amateur doctors and refs are really bad for MMA. Cecil Peoples called, he wants his Gameboy back, for when fights go to the ground

@Pen it did not happen five years ago, earlier this year. I was there.

@Jared he would of had it over turned sooner had he actually shown up to the commission meetings when he was on the agenda rather then no show.

I don't know if it's fair, but it's weird.

Thank you! Finally I can sleep at night again!!

@Pen - I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying that. According to Tapology, this fight happened earlier this year: http://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/events/13176-warrior-nation-xfa-3

It's not exactly huge news, but I just figured I'd follow up on it. And I wanted an excuse to watch this fight again, because, come on.

Serious injustice my ass. This was an amateur fight that happened nearly five years ago. Justin Kristie, the presumed screwee, has had a whopping 1 pro fight in the intervening period (which he lost btw), while David Baxter has similarly gone on to an 0-1 pro record. File this one under "who gives a shit."
