Friend of mine is a Highway Patrolman in the Las Vegas area. He's had a couple of scary encounters with drunk and belligerent UFC and K-1 fighters over the years. At 5'8" and a buck-fifty, he says there's no way he would take on a pro fighter mano a mano--if they give him any crap, his 9mm is in his hand ASAP. I imagine that if I were faced with a similar situation, I'd do the same thing, especially if my wife or step-daughter were being threatened. Bummer.

I'm not glad he got shot or anything but do you think eilers just kept throwing dishes when he was told to get out. He probably said something to the effect of why don't you make me get out etc etc. Then the guy who owned the house was like this is my house do it now etc etc then a fight most likely brought out. It's not like eiler's poured himself a cup of tea in one of the few remaining glasses and just sat there refusing to leave. They probably got into a fight.

The biggest thing missing is why didn't someone call 911 when he started throwing objects. There has to be way more to this story then has been reported so far. I'm not sure how the law is written in Idaho but common sense tells me that the only time you can take action to end another mans life, yours or someone elses life must be in danger. By throwing dishes i hardly think this is the case. Walk out of the kitchen and you're out of harms way.

Back to the chest thing, why couldn't he shoot him in the leg? If it doesn't drop him and he comes at you then you can take the neccesary action to stop him. I think there is alot more to hear from this tragic story. Bad month for MMA. RIP fellas.

A giant man threw a temper tantrum in someone else's home, there's no physical description of the 48 year old man, but there's a pretty good chance he wasn't in the shape to be physically removing Eilers from his home. 911 could have been called, police removal. But well..

..this is a fairly depressing ending to a stupid situation. There's no telling what else Eiler's mother and child have seen at this point, so the son could have been psychologically scarred to begin with, I'd imagine farther into the deep end now.

Wow man. This is very concerning to a sport like MMA, which is just so close to becoming accepted by the "mainstream". To have 3 deaths of 3 good fighters in just a few months span is very depressing, especially considering 2 of them ended in a very violent fashion.
