K-Sos and Stephan Bonnar Want to Do It Again, Brother

(I’m not going to lie to you Stephan, that’s probably going to leave a mark.)

Though he appeared to be headed for a loss anyway, Stephan Bonnar is not happy with the way his fight against Krzysztof Soszynski ended at UFC 110, and it’s hard to blame him.  After an accidental headbutt caused a nauseating cut on his forehead which lathered the mat with blood, the fight was stopped and K-Sos was awarded the TKO victory with just minutes left in the fight.  Ideally, a fight that’s stopped due to a headbutt should go to the scorecards rather than being declared a loss for the fighter who was just fouled, but hey, what do you expect in Australia?  No place that produced Hugh Jackman and Errol Flynn is going to play by your silly rules.

But the best part about this story – or the worst part, if you’re Bonnar – is that he now has a scar on his forehead shaped oddly like a ‘K.’  As in, the first letter of K-Sos’s name.  It’s like he was branded by his enemy in defeat.  From now until the day he dies, when his body will presumably be blasted into space because, hell, that’s what we do with everything in the future, at least in my imagination, he will bear the mark of K-Sos.

And yet, because Bonnar is not the type of guy to give up just because it’s probably the smart thing to do, he wants another go-round with the sharp-skulled K-Sos.  Soszynski says he’s up for it "if the UFC wants it and the fans want it."  I guess this is where we turn it over to you.  Any interest in Bonnar/K-Sos II?  If so, what are the odds that Bonnar can somehow even the score by carving an ‘S’ into K-Sos’s head?  Follow-up question: Do you think he should opt for the ‘B’ instead, just to make it clear that the ‘S’ doesn’t stand for Soszynski?  Short of a custom made signet ring that he sneaks into the Octagon, how would he even accomplish that?

The ref from their 1st fight should be strung up by his toes. Not only was Bonner winning fight #1. That gay incorrect stoppage cost me 500 dollars by killing a 4 and 5 way parlay.

How anyone can say this is a step backwards for K-sos is someone that didn't actually watch the first fight.

so bonnar is now a horcrux?
Wrye Bash- February 23, 2010 at 5:15 am
I'm a Bonnar fan. I like the guy.
Yeti Stomp- February 23, 2010 at 5:13 am
Oh, and Methian was right about the no-contest thing. That would have been the righteous end to the fight. I'm still anti-rematch though.
Yeti Stomp- February 23, 2010 at 5:11 am
Rematch, schmematch. I think they're getting carried away with rematches lately. You just lost and the media is hyping some maybe true, maybe untrue hate issue between you and your opponent? How about a rematch? Oh, you're the champ and you just got knocked the fuck out? Better give that guy a rematch! One opponent was at a disadvantage because the other guy had insanely bad breath? Well, get him some mouthwash - and a rematch!

Come on, people. A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. This whole rematch thing is getting tired. And by that I mean gay.

The exception to the rematch for the sake of a rematch thing is, of course, when the judges are totally fucked up - I'm talking to you, Cecil Peoples - as per the Machida/Rua fight. Or, when the referee makes a ludicrous call (Mazzagatti, 50% of the time.) It's only in cases where one fighter was clearly ass raped that a rematch should be considered. IMO.

TB1: How will Prangley vs. Amoussou end?
02/26 05:10PMKO/TKO Unanimous Decision Split Decision Round: Minute: Second:

AYO what if i think it will end in a Submission?
Methian- February 23, 2010 at 12:47 am
Bonnar took a mark to his loss colum because of a headbutt? I'd be talking about a rematch too if that happened to me.

I can't really understand the ref. The stoppage was clearly the result of a illegal move, no matter how unintended, and the correct call would be a non-contest if not a DQ for K Soszi... Sosinz... you know who I mean. Does this mean that knees to the groin, rabbit punches and eye pokes are again a key to victory just as long as they appear unintended? Someone should teach that ref the rules of the game.

Come on people! People come on! Give Bonnar some love. And give him a rematch. It was a total bullshit call, and he was definitely doing good enough to justify a second chance. What if the Wanderlei vs Bisping fight had ended a few minutes early and Wand lost because he didn't get his full 15 min to go apeshit? Bonnar could have easily pulled it out in the final minutes and I thought it was a good fight.

Also, the B in Hot Sos's forehead will come via 5 rapid elbows from side control. It will be pointy, like it was drawn by a Roman with a chisel.

@Jiveof81 - Hot Sos. Funny.

I would hate to see this fight again! there are bigger and better things out there for K-Sos.

I think he should just stick with "The Polish Experiment" sounds better than the current nickname.

I'll give Bonnar credit in that he gives his all every single time. There are a lot of people who play it safe and coast, whereas he's balls to the wall from start to finish. Kudos there, but his monotone voice kills me. Am I the only one who found him about as threatening as a my little pony pillow case full of kittens when he said he might have to teach Diego a lesson for stealing all the asparagus on season one??? Really???

"Dana owes him ONE of his ferrari's." not four losses in a row.
Ninjanate- February 22, 2010 at 8:16 pm
The reason Bonnar hasn't been let go is that Dana has a little bit of loyalty to one of the fighters that helped the UFC make it to the next level. The first season of the TUF was almost make or break for the UFC and Bonnar vs Griffin is one of the reasons that the UFC is where it is today. Dana owes him one of his ferrari's.

I realized that I don't like Stephen Bonnar, not because he tries really hard to be funny or because he's not that great of a fighter (The guy does have a hell of a chin), but I don't like him because his voice annoys the shit outta me.
Negativecreep0- February 22, 2010 at 7:03 pm
stephen bonnar is in the new cialus commercial, he looks like the typical office dickhead who plays practical jokes on everone, like crop dusting by the water fountain..........freaking dick
parchy mcthirst- February 22, 2010 at 6:55 pm
Fuckin right with the Errol Flynn remark Ben G and Ben F. And no, tell Bonnar that he has a new job with the UFC, scrubbing the mats between rounds
Savageleto- February 22, 2010 at 5:59 pm
I for one want to see it finished. It was a pretty good fight.
Big Ben Snackwell- February 22, 2010 at 5:58 pm

RockSteady- February 22, 2010 at 5:48 pm
Yeah, it'd be a step backwards for K-Sos to fight Bonnar again.
btw, did anyone read that Frank Mir interview about him wanting to kill Brock Lesnar in the Octagon?
TheJiveof81- February 22, 2010 at 5:32 pm
I could take or leave the rematch but I do think that K-Sos should change his nickname to Hot Sos.

IF you don't want to see a rematch to a fight that had a ridiculously unfair end to it, who do you want to see bonnar fight? The dude does throw down, you can't deny that -even though he seems to have the personality of Tom Hanks after he got his fortune told by that Carnival Gypsy and had got transported into an adult's body.
831 Father- February 22, 2010 at 5:04 pm
Because, KimboSlice, despite Bonner's lack of skill compared to the other fighters in his weight class, he:

1) Does give it his all in his fights.
2) Makes for a good interview.
3) Was the other half of their number 1 UFC of all time.
4) Is recognizable to the Spike viewers.

But if you want to base employment on JUST records, they may as well cut a guy like Chris Lytle then, despite the fact he has exciting fights.

And who the hell does want to see that rematch with K-Sos? Tired of 99% of the fighters pining for some random rematch that most viewers wouldn't care for.
matahtak- February 22, 2010 at 5:04 pm
F you guys, I thought it was a pretty good fight compared to most of the card (obviously wasn't better than Cain / Nog). I would love to see a rematch, still think K-Sos would win, but I liked how these two slugged it out.
MKO- February 22, 2010 at 4:54 pm
Damn good fight. Think I would have scored round 2 for Bonnar, and he was holding his own despite leaking after the headbutt.
