Ken Shamrock Issues Open Letter to Fans, Asks for Kimbo One More Time

(Just think of what might have been. Or better yet, don’t think about it. Ever.)

Oh, Ken Shamrock. Somehow the controversy over whether you cut yourself on purpose or whether you were just unlucky/dumb has been overshadowed in the past few days by other EliteXC controversies. It’s almost as if people have completely forgotten that it was supposed to be you who got paid extra to stand and trade with Kimbo Slice. Instead, you didn’t make a dime and ended up being but a footnote in this sad spectacle.

But fear not, MMA fans, for Ken Shamrock has composed (read: asked someone to write for him) an open letter explaining what went on this past Saturday and what he’d like to do about it. Take it away, Ken:

On October 4th, I was set to fight Kimbo Slice on the EliteXC/CBS Saturday Night Fights in a highly anticipated event. Unfortunately, because of a training accident and the intervention of the Florida State Boxing Commission, our fight did not happen. I suffered a cut above my left eye that required six stitches, and the cut was significant enough to cause the Florida State Boxing Commission to refuse to allow me to fight.

The scheduled bout with Kimbo on the EliteXC/CBS Saturday Night Fight card was a great opportunity, and it is unfortunate that I was unable to face Kimbo as planned. I want to apologize to all of my fans, and to the EliteXC and CBS executives who worked so hard to put this fight together. I also want to apologize to Kimbo, Bas Rutten and their entire camp for what happened. I recognize that I put them in a very bad situation, particularly Kimbo. It’s difficult to walk into the ring after training for one opponent only to find out hours before the fight that you have to face some you don’t know or have never seen fight.

Over the years there have been many great times as well as disappointing times and I know Saturday the fans were as disappointed as I was. I was worked up so I decided to train with my partners in order to stay focused on the fight. I was just doing a light roll to check holds when I got caught by a head butt. It was a freak accident and I didn’t think anything of it until I saw drops of blood. It appeared to be a deep laceration so I had my physician look at it and we immediately went to the emergency room. When they said the cut would require stitches, my heart sank because I knew that the Florida Boxing Commission would not let me fight. I was disappointed because I knew this was an opportunity to give the fans, my friends, and my family something to cheer about. It has been a hard couple of years for me, and for my fans. I have suffered some disappointing losses. I definitely regret my decision to train on the day of the fight.

I promise that I will make this up to all my fans. I know that there is nothing I can do about what occurred, but I plan to get back into the ring soon. I would like it to be against Kimbo Slice. Hopefully EliteXC/CBS will still be able to put a fight together. It’s is the right thing to do. The fans want it and I want it.

I would also like to congratulate Petruzelli on his win. He did a phenomenal job. Seth not accepted the challenge of facing a new opponent; he also had to move up in weight class. He came in, dominated Kimbo and walked away with a great victory.

To the fans, I appreciate all of your support.

Thank you and God Bless.

Ken Shamrock

Yeah, Ken, about getting that fight with Kimbo now? I don’t know. Before, it seemed kind of sad and a little exploitative for EliteXC to match you and Kimbo up, for many reasons. But now, after you had to pull out of the fight and EliteXC got really, really mad at you and then Kimbo got TKO’d in fourteen seconds against a mediocre light heavyweight, it seems downright bizarre. Kind of like getting fired from your job one day and then coming in to the work the next and acting like nothing happened. They are not going to play along. Trust me. They are going to call security. And it only gets uglier from there.

I think it's funny that Kenny Boy thinks he has fans.

Ken says, "Dear Kimbo, if you fight me, I swear that I will run straight at you with my glass jaw leading the way. And, if you miss me, and my jaw knocks you out, I will pick you up and put you on top of me and then I will tap out." Ken, will you please go away? You staged that cut. It was obvious in your interview. You looked down several times as you told how you got it. Obvious signs of lying. You are washed up, afraid, and have a glass jaw. Retire. Now. This really annoys the hell out of me. Everyone is like...awwww poor Kimbo... didn't get to prepare or watch video on Seth Petruzelli!!! BFD... Seth Petruzelli didn't get to watch any video on Kimbo, was at a huge weight disadvantage, had not fought in a year, and still took the fight on a days notice. Screw Kimbo... Petruzelli proved exactly what Kimbo is ...and that is a shitty fighter.

You gotta think about it in terms of what would draw ratings, and Shamrock would draw more than a no-name can.

They could hype it as a grudge match, 'unfinished business 2'.

"Somehow the controversy over whether you cut yourself on purpose " -- c'mon, I thought you were better than this (whether you were jokin or not). You're appearing as the kid who can do a complicated math problem, but can't change a wheel on a car.

I would really like to see Ken vrs. Kimbo. I've always wanted to see a double knockout.

I have a 12" jab too and now that I see that is Kimbo's Kryptonite, I promise Elite XC, I will leave my exacto knife home this time. If I would have known Kimbo would fold up like a lawn chair at the sight of a 12" Jab, I would have never cut myself as a cop out. So Elite XC, I am sorry and I beg for forgiveness. Please give me the chance to be relevant again. I know Tito is asking for the same thing, but I will not ask for as much money.

"I would like it to be against Kimbo Slice."

I would also like my next fight to be against Kimbo... My one-legged off-balance jab is near perfection.

Shamrock would lose. Easy bet to win money right there.

Howie, you redeemed yourself. I fought my way through the first two paragraphs of your half-assed canine metaphor thinking "this cat is high as hell".

I agree with you, however, Ken is like the uncle that shows up to your keg parties, trying to impress your friends with his old timey, "I kicked ass back in the day" shit. There, that's my half assed metaphor. But I'm only eleven, so what the fuck do I know...

How come CP hasn't done a story about Holy-Roller Joe Son's multiple gang rape charges yet?

Let me break it down for you:

My beagle is standing beside my office chair right now straining the shit out of herself trying to sniff the milkbone that is sitting on my desk. Its the last milkbone left and she didn't do any fucking tricks to please me for the ones I gave her earlier so as far as I am concerned she can go fuck herself and go in the corner and lick her twat for a while. Then MAYBE and I mean MAYBE I might just consider seeing if she is capable of doing a cool trick for that coveted biscuit. That is of coarse if anyone actually wants to see it. I highly doubt she can though cuz she is an old stupid beagle (beagles by the way are incredibly stubborn and won't give up against improbable odds no matter how high they are) As stupid and stubborn as she is I love her old hide very much and I am sure to go out and buy more milbones tomorrow.

Ken Shamrock is that beagle. Stupid, old and straining the fuck out of himself to prove to all of us he has that one trick left. Personally I think Kimbo is that cookie. A meager offering thats consumption is somehow going to be more fulfilling than it's shoddy contents can possibly provide in nutrients. I on the other hand am Elite XC and I own that old beagle. I also have complete control of her, letting her out to pee when I see fit and taking her for a walk so I can pick up her shit when she unloads.

It could also be because I am very high right now. Very very high and I can't remember what website I am leaving a comment on.... hmmmm.

Seriously though. I still like ol Ken. He is trying hard to impress us all and trying not to make the nick "The world's most Dangerous man' sound too retarded right now. He needs to slow the fuck down and concentrate on training before he gets hurt. Kimbo might just be the last headliner he can actually beat!

>Instead, you didn’t make a dime and ended up being but a footnote in this sad >spectacle.

listen you faggot, you can spin all you want on Dana's dick but dont try to convince us it was a sad spectacle.
we got 4 very good fights AND we got the Kimbo balloon popped in a pleasing and spectacular fashion. All for free. maybe Shaw didnt blow you like you hoped but for the MMA fans who actually enjoyed watching the show, fuck you hater, we had a good time.

If they were smart they'd be all over this fight. Let Kimbo kill Shamrock and you take care of a couple of points of company business. Kimbo will be back on the winning track, you will make some "bread" with a huge grudge match, and you'll be getting revenge on Kenny.
alan- October 8, 2008 at 11:01 pm
it would be a great idea to make kimbo promotable again if he wins kimbo vs ken 2? or 1? anyway...maybe we could se ken and his old ass get ktfo just once more :d
FilmDrunk- October 8, 2008 at 10:52 pm
I bet they give it to him.
