Ken Shamrock Thinks Kimbo Is “Moving Up Too Fast,” Vows to Expose Him

(Props: MMA Scraps)

A jovial Ken Shamrock showed up on “Inside MMA” to discuss his upcoming fight with Kimbo Slice. I’m not sure exactly what’s going on around the 0:53 mark where Ken affects a silly voice in order to say “going to the leg-lock,” but, as Shamrock has shown in the past, he likes the occasional silly voice for no good reason. It’s somewhat reassuring to hear him say that he isn’t comfortable trading punches with Kimbo, until he says he still thinks he can “hit him five times and make him miss.” Don’t do it, Ken. Seriously. Just get it to the ground and hope for the best.

The silly voice is a stab a Bas. Ken submitted Bas many years ago when Bas was undeafted in Pan Crea.

I liked the politness or humbleness (if that's a word) of Shamrock in this interview. Generally, he can be very rude and arrogant, but he's quite upfront and nice in this interview.

Don't do it Ken. I hope you aren't going to take a dive. That's like seeing Royce get busted for steroids against someone like Sakuraba. Oh wait... FUCK this fucking shit. If you're going down, Ken, take Kimbo with you.

Shamrock will obviously dive in this match quicker than that CageRage Farce with Robert "Buzz" Berry. Sirch6002 hit the nail square on the head with his comment; makes heaps of sense, plus it would fit the precedent EliteXC has had with Kimbo insofar he is nothing but marketing propaganda hype with no substance of ANY note in teh MMA world.

anyone find his last loss a little "too easy" hope it doesnt end up ken standing still for 30 secs then rolling up into a ball.

If WWF were real you might have a point, however it's a scripted play with acrobatics. They aren't paying people to 'take a dive', they are being paid to follow the script.

Shamrock is guilty of many things (narcissism, over-confidence, etc) but I don't believe he'd ever take a dive in a legitimate fight. If for no other reason than that his ego wouldn't allow it. ;)

After that last fight kimbo had I'd say all Ken needs to do to win is run laps for the first two rounds after witch kimbo will be so gassed in the third Ken might get away with the " I'll hit him 5 time then make his miss" comment by turning it into reality

I like how Bas Rutten is a host for this show, and at the same time Kimbo's coach. During the whole interview Ken is just shooting down Kimbo. I wonder how confident Bas is with Kimbo's training.
sirch6002- September 10, 2008 at 5:19 pm
and i make the WWF comment above to show he's been paid to lose before, so its not a stretch for ken.
sirch6002- September 10, 2008 at 5:18 pm
you gotta wonder though..... seeing as how ken used to wrestle for the WWF, and he's got a decent ground game, which is somewhere where kimbo hasn't proven himself yet, if elitexc is paying him to lose. i mean, they seem pretty hellbent on making kimbo a big name in the MMA world, and right now he needs his ground game tested, seeing as how he struggled against james thomson of all people on the ground, so maybe they hired ken to lose this fight by way of submission to "prove" that kimbo has a good ground game and is a complete fighter, not just a street brawler.... i mean, if they can prove he's actually a good fighter, and get some decent opponents, they might actually have a chance of staying in this business.... not a very good one, mind you, but a better one than they have now..... then again, i could just be losing my mind too. for the record though, i hope ken wins.

Step 1...shoot in for a takedown (try not to be blasted 18 times on the way in)...Step 2 fight and keep fighting for a submission on the ground as if you were at the Abu Dhabi championships...if nothing comes of this and the fight gets stood up, repeat Steps 1 and 2. Other wise Step 3 may be snoring in the center of the cage. If Shamrock can keep the fight at Step 1 and 2...he may be able to avoid Step 3.

It sounds like he wants to say "Fo' sho!" but at the last minute decides to stick with "for sure."
