Kenny Florian to Make Featherweight Debut at UFC 131 Against Diego Nunes

What are you trying to say? Trouble at the old mill? Someone fall through the ice? Bobcat?

It’s yet to be confirmed by the UFC, but it would appear that former lightweight contender Kenny Florian will be fighting Diego Nunes when he makes his featherweight debut at UFC 131.  The Vancouver card will be headlined by a heavyweight number one contender’s match between Junior Dos Santos and Brock Lesnar.  Oh yeah, Shane Carwin is on board for this one, too.

KenFlo said that he wanted to fight a top contender in his featherweight debut, and Diego Nunes certainly fits the criteria.  “The Gun” has gone 5-1 under the Zuffa banner and is currently riding a three fight win streak.  His most recent outing was a split decision victory over former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown back at UFC 125 in January.  As for Florian, since losing his most recent title fight to BJ Penn back at UFC 101, KenFlo has gone 2-1, notching victories over Clay Cuida and Takanori Gomi before losing a decision to Gray Maynard at UFC 118.

The problem isn't his wrestling, its that Kenflo tries to out wrestle wrestlers. He should stick to what he's good at, elbowing mofo's. Just cause he trains at tristar doesn't mean he can be the LW GSP.

I'd like to see the day when KF will stop giving Dana and the UFC a metaphorical rimjob during every goddamn MMA LIVE episode. KF is as slimy and untrustworthy as they come, hope the guy gets Bisping'd by the texmex dude.

I'm interested to see how Florian does at featherweight but I don't think any weight change will make a difference until he improves his take down defense and wrestling skills. We all know he has a ground game but put him in with someone who has any sort of wrestling prowess and he's a fish out of water. I wish him luck because I do enjoy watching Florian fight but I don't believe simply changing weight classes will do him any good.

Obviously a fight KenFlo took with no hesitation... He wants a fight with Aldo soon, but he fights Nunes??... doesn't sound like a matchup that puts him in the title picture at FW.

It's a joke about how precise Kenflo is in the tweet, not like "fight signed for fw". Lassie only barked in communication, so her owners had to spend a little time every episode interpreting what she meant, so they could go save the old mill, rescue a drowning boy, or shoot a bobcat, and other things that dogs can witness but can't do anything about. Of course, most humour is murdered once explained.
