@cashman- Fail to the Maximum.

I dont think anyone is disputing that we would get beaten up by these guys, its that they had no place main eventing MMA's network television debut when real athletes like Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith were on the same card fighting for a title.
cashman- June 3, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I dare any of u nay-sayers to get in the ring with either of those two...u all say it was a joke...what is a is u wussy sitting behind a computer screen talking crap on two guys that would man handle your bon bon eating ars!

LOL at Ben Ramey, I like how you mentioned his extreme lack of stamina midway through the second round. As well as the "epic" display of his punching power being completely useless against a spent opponent whose known for his tendency to get K'O'ed . I'm not hating on Fergie Ferguson, just stating the undeniable facts.
Ben Ramey- June 1, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Funny how everyones criticizing Kimbo when he beat the living hell out of Thompson.. First of all, Kimbo gave the ref a thumbs up, he never tapped.. Secondly, look at the records and the tale of the tapes.. Kimbo was dominated, and according to the weight, height advantage and overall experience in MMA, thompson should have won the fight just on the stats itself.. The only time Kimbo looked like he was in a bad position was when he was on his back, and that only comes from inexperience.. Other than that, his striking looked as amazing as ever and even when he was on his back, thompson delivered weak-ass elbos and then switched to even weaker hammer strikes, not even leaving a mark on Kimbo.. So to say Thompson was hosed and that Kimbo lost all credibilty as a fighter, you must be tripping.. Kimbo looked solid the whole fight and showed alot of heart and determination to come out with a win.. Lets not forget people, kimbos a street fighter competing with Cage Fighting Pros.. I have a big feeling Kimbos going to be one of the greatest fighters if he keeps training and stays hungry.. Did you see Thompson's eyes when he was getting rocked? They pretty much said, "Look at the birdies.." Keep it up Kimbo, you get what you work for.
Fully Caffein8ed- June 1, 2008 at 2:53 pm
That whole fight looked staged. "Elite" was nothing more than WWE wrestling, a COMPLETE joke and a disgrace to all things MMA.

Kimbo, walk away now my friend. Had you been fighting ANYONE in your weight class in the UFC, they woulda had to drag your big hairy butt out of the octagon. Had that Brit actually FOUGHT you (versus participating in the thrown fight) he should have obliterated you the first time you guys hit the mat. Instead, he chose to lovingly caress your face, or whatever the hell he was doing on top of you — it sure wasn't fighting.
Bootylam!- June 1, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Anyone defending Kimbo is a nut hugger or doesn't know MMA. A 35 year old w/ no ground skills, no air, and now suspect power? He couldn't put a lump opponent away in a fixed fight! Much respect to Thompson but anyone knowledgable knows that he is an "opponent". Kimbo will more than likely become the next big opponent type fighter but it would be a miracle if he's ever the champ of any fighting league. Don't compare his age to Couture [OR any real MMA fighter] because that is an entirely different level of athleticism and combat skill. And I LIKE Kimbo. He's just not that good. At least Tank used to truly knock fools out.
D Money- June 1, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Stop analyzing the fight! or even Kimbo as a newbie to mma! That fight was fixed!...The dude had the fight won and all of a sudden he stops defending and eats punches from kimbo...happened atleast twice during the fight

This fight was to show that Kimbo fights werent fixed but it did the exact opposite. If no one took Kimbo to the ground then it would look bad they got someone who would with a saving grace "the ear". He should have never been cleared to fight if they were going to stop the fight if the ear popped. It was a planned. Elite XC wont survive if Kimbo loses plain and simple. And they wont let him lose for awhile.

Elite XC is garbage
AngryBlakGuy- June 1, 2008 at 1:43 pm
...GEEEEEZ guys, No one is "hating" on Kimbo! Ive watched MMA for nearly 10 years now and that was plain and simple a "shitty" showing on Kimbo's part. Thompson isnt the greatest fighter out there, in fact he missed more than few opportunities to take FULL MOUNT(I counted 3) and if he was looking for an arm-bar he had opportunity to lock it in everytime he trapped Kimbo's arm. In the first round Kimbo did show a little skill with his leg sweep, attempted Kimora, knees and take down defense. But the fact that he was so gassed halfway through the 2nd round is a REALLY bad sign, he has been training for how long now and cant go 3 rounds. Yeah it is true that grappling takes a lot out of you, but did he assume that all his fight will be stand up brawls?! In my opinion he should have been training in Jui-Jitsu and grappling since the first day he even considered entering the ring. I think he has surrounded himself with a bunch of yes men that wont tell him about his own weaknesses, instead of getting real trainers that will challenge him. It wasn't until recently that he hired Bas Ruden as a trainer and you can actually see progress, can you imagine if he had been training with him since 8 months ago?
B.Obamanation- June 1, 2008 at 11:32 am
When are you losers going to realize that YouTube Kimbo, and entertainment UFC Kimbo are different people.

He is going to be feed trash cans to kick around, or to take a dive because Vegas pulls the strings, then there will be a loss, then a much hyped re-match etc. the way they have done with boxing (and, AWA, WWF, W.W.E. etc.) for the last 70 years, and you people will pay to see it none the wiser.

sol- June 1, 2008 at 9:44 am
im not on hating on Kimbo for being an average at best fighter, im hating on all the fanboys who think he is top 10 material who actually stands a chance.
dsp- June 1, 2008 at 6:09 am
Basically i reckon kimbos strikes are hard but not fluent and not fast , so his striking overall is mid level. His Ground Game is low level , yet he is strong downt there but just doesnt know how to use it that well , and his cardio is shit and probs alwyas will be shit , cos hes supposed to train the house down. I think the ground fighting really took it out of him, mabye he panicked to much and didnt relax down there enough. He will most likely never get further than a mid level fight , but i aint hatin on him for bein the headlin , or on Gary Shaw for using him as the headliner , hed be stupid if he didnt. Kimbo is popular and people want to see him fight more than two lesser know but better MMA fighters , and thats a fact so get over it you hating bastards.
PS. Dana White is an absolute cunt of a bloke , and MMA would be better without his balding ass. I cant wait till a fighter hes mouthin off at, loving his authority over , smacks him square in the face and makes his nose dissapear.
sdggrant- June 1, 2008 at 6:03 am
larryflynt....Thompson had major califlower (spelling?) ear which is basically a blood clot inbetween the skin and cartiledge of the ear. It happens to wrestlers alot or people who get hit in the ear.
dsp- June 1, 2008 at 6:00 am
you people are fucked in the head. Kimbo looked pretty shit but what where you all expecting. He was never going to come out and look top level and probbably never will be, but dont hate on him for beating whats in front of him. THompson has been going shit lateley , but he probably trained harder for this fight than any other as it was a big event on live television. Kimbo isnt the worste MMA fighter around and he isnt the best. You are all so harsh if he doesnt knock the guy out in the first twenty seconds. And dont hate on him for fightin in the street before joinin MMA because heaps of the top fighters started off fightin in the street you clowns. They just never put it on youtube and are now wishin they had. At least Kimbos street fights had some rules , basically barenuckle boxing , not thuggish stomping on heads n shit outside a bar, so i dont see why people have a problem with his past and now going pro. Basically after a couple more fights Kimbo's hype will diminish and hell become just a popular MMA fighter , he wont be headlining shows on live tv and have this mythical street brawler unbeatable tyson in his prime like tag and theres nothin wrong with that. No MMA fighter can come out and win by brutal KO in ten seconds every fight , not even the best. So if he is going to stick at this he and his fans better get used to seeing him occasionaly on his back , or being manhandled around, even losing acasionally , becuase MMA has to many differnet aspects for there to be one totally unbeatable champion. Even Randy gets beaten and so will Fedor if he had fought more top quality opponents more regularly.

God damn I hate Dana White....

Thanks Gary....You just made his night....

We know what that Kimbo Slice crap is all about, EXC is hoping all u-tuber's will eventually go to PPV, good luck. Slice SUCKS they put him upagainst Old man Abbot, Glass Jaw Thompson, who's next Donald Duck
matt- June 1, 2008 at 2:32 am
hey tom, quick question. do you really think james thompson is a good fighter??? and also, how do you rate kimbos performance, good? bad? really shitty??
larry flynt- June 1, 2008 at 2:22 am
I dont get this ear thing.
I heard comments about how they saw how Thompson's ear was at the weigh-in and planning to zero in on it.
What did they see?
What was wrong with the ear? And if it was infected or whatever, does that mean there was a higher chance that this would happen during the fight?
Isnt there an athletic commission that verirfies the athletes condition?
Rob Enderle- June 1, 2008 at 2:12 am
Look, we have to stop repeating the same story: yes, Slice is not good on the ground. yes, his cardio sucks and so on.... we knew all that.
This confirmed it but many are not surprised.

BUT the one surprising thing is Slice layed some good punches on JT and didnt knock him down. The ONE thing we believed he had was punching power.

Seems we were wrong about that.

And if Limbo doesnt have enough power to KTFO James Thompson, WHAT does he have really?
NigNug- June 1, 2008 at 2:08 am
lol, know my shit before I speak? I never mentioned Randy Couture, you did. Name some other fighters getting up in age and still performing well? especially when it comes to your endurance. That's the first thing that goes. You might be able to think of 5. Kimbo is 35. Im sorry you want to suck his ballsack and can't fathom a world where Kimbo actually isn't good but it's true. He was overhyped and as you can see most people on here are thinking the same thing I am. It doesn't matter that those "bows" had no power, it matters that Kimbo even got stuck in that situation with a bottom rate fighter. It matters that Kimbo didn't know what to do when he got in that situation and its just funny seeing people like you trying to stand up for Kimbo. I guess you really want good MMA to die then.
lolwut- June 1, 2008 at 1:57 am
Yep was not impressed at all. Bullshit Doctors, Bullshit Refs, Bullshit Orginization. Gary Shaw maybe u should take some pointers from Dana White?
Tom- June 1, 2008 at 1:41 am
To all those people hating on kimbo for him taking those elbows.

Those bows had no power behind them whatsoever.

Are they supposed to end a fight when theres no damage?

And don't give me any B.S about the rules. People wanted to see kimbo fight and thats what they got.

Hey NigNug. How old was randy couture when he beat tim sylvia a much younger fighter?
I'll tell you. 43. and how old is kimbo .35. know your shit before you speak retard
matt- June 1, 2008 at 12:40 am
james thompson is a bottom rate fighter, and a shitty one at that, he almost beat kimbo. actually looked better than kimbo most of the fight. so in my eyes kimbo is not all what hes cracked up to be. kimbos stand up wasnt even sub par, and his so called new ground game was just horrible. when you have a naked choke, who doesnt know to wrap your legs around some part of your apponents body. kimbo looked like a rookie, and when he finally fights a fighter with some skill, he will learn what it feels like to lose, just like all the no-name amateur punks that he fought. i used to like kimbo, but lost all my respect for him as a fighter, this display was really really bad...
sol- June 1, 2008 at 12:03 am
i prefer what the UFC are doing with Brock Lesnar, put him in against someone very good and you have an excuse if he loses (he lost to someone really good). Either way, Lesnar put on a good show (albeit a short one) and some people recognise that he has talent.

EliteXC however are babying Kimbo and the downside to babying him is that when something happens like last night you are basically fucked.

For anyone who is not a Kimbo nuthugger or a Kimbo hater for that fact, Kimbo performed under-par, way way under-par. He got put in with someone who has lost most of his recent fights and struggled bad, he didnt even put on a show, didnt show that he has talent.

All he showed was that he was outclassed by an average at best fighter and won the fight in the same way he has been doing on the internets, this is meant to be our representative for mainstream MMA? Really?
jason- May 31, 2008 at 11:50 pm

he was actually not KO'ed by butterbean. if you watch the full fight with replay none of the butterbean shots hit - he just slipped and the fight was stopped. the announcers say it as such - a very bad stoppage.
regardless, butterbean has awesome KO power, just slow and fat.

as for "deserving" the hype, pay and promotion... you'd have to blame that on capitalism. people are willing to pay to watch kimbo, therefore he will be paid accordingly. did michael jackson "deserve" 100s of million of dollars. does britney spears? do nba players deserve millions for playing a game with a ball and hoop? what about david beckham, 250 mil to play soccer?

it is irrelevant in the capitalist world we live in. if you don't like it start a revolution and change it, or move to another country.
