Funny how everyones criticizing Kimbo when he beat the living hell out of Thompson.. First of all, Kimbo gave the ref a thumbs up, he never tapped.. Secondly, look at the records and the tale of the tapes.. Kimbo was dominated, and according to the weight, height advantage and overall experience in MMA, thompson should have won the fight just on the stats itself.. The only time Kimbo looked like he was in a bad position was when he was on his back, and that only comes from inexperience.. Other than that, his striking looked as amazing as ever and even when he was on his back, thompson delivered weak-ass elbos and then switched to even weaker hammer strikes, not even leaving a mark on Kimbo.. So to say Thompson was hosed and that Kimbo lost all credibilty as a fighter, you must be tripping.. Kimbo looked solid the whole fight and showed alot of heart and determination to come out with a win.. Lets not forget people, kimbos a street fighter competing with Cage Fighting Pros.. I have a big feeling Kimbos going to be one of the greatest fighters if he keeps training and stays hungry.. Did you see Thompson's eyes when he was getting rocked? They pretty much said, "Look at the birdies.." Keep it up Kimbo, you get what you work for.

That whole fight looked staged. "Elite" was nothing more than WWE wrestling, a COMPLETE joke and a disgrace to all things MMA.

This fight was to show that Kimbo fights werent fixed but it did the exact opposite. If no one took Kimbo to the ground then it would look bad ...so they got someone who would with a saving grace "the ear". He should have never been cleared to fight if they were going to stop the fight if the ear popped. It was a planned. Elite XC wont survive if Kimbo loses plain and simple. And they wont let him lose for awhile.

...GEEEEEZ guys, No one is "hating" on Kimbo! Ive watched MMA for nearly 10 years now and that was plain and simple a "shitty" showing on Kimbo's part. Thompson isnt the greatest fighter out there, in fact he missed more than few opportunities to take FULL MOUNT(I counted 3) and if he was looking for an arm-bar he had opportunity to lock it in everytime he trapped Kimbo's arm. In the first round Kimbo did show a little skill with his leg sweep, attempted Kimora, knees and take down defense. But the fact that he was so gassed halfway through the 2nd round is a REALLY bad sign, he has been training for how long now and cant go 3 rounds. Yeah it is true that grappling takes a lot out of you, but did he assume that all his fight will be stand up brawls?! In my opinion he should have been training in Jui-Jitsu and grappling since the first day he even considered entering the ring. I think he has surrounded himself with a bunch of yes men that wont tell him about his own weaknesses, instead of getting real trainers that will challenge him. It wasn't until recently that he hired Bas Ruden as a trainer and you can actually see progress, can you imagine if he had been training with him since 8 months ago?

When are you losers going to realize that YouTube Kimbo, and entertainment UFC Kimbo are different people.

im not on hating on Kimbo for being an average at best fighter, im hating on all the fanboys who think he is top 10 material who actually stands a chance.

Basically i reckon kimbos strikes are hard but not fluent and not fast , so his striking overall is mid level. His Ground Game is low level , yet he is strong downt there but just doesnt know how to use it that well , and his cardio is shit and probs alwyas will be shit , cos hes supposed to train the house down. I think the ground fighting really took it out of him, mabye he panicked to much and didnt relax down there enough. He will most likely never get further than a mid level fight , but i aint hatin on him for bein the headlin , or on Gary Shaw for using him as the headliner , hed be stupid if he didnt. What did they see?

james thompson is a bottom rate fighter, and a shitty one at that, he almost beat kimbo. actually looked better than kimbo most of the fight. so in my eyes kimbo is not all what hes cracked up to be. kimbos stand up wasnt even sub par, and his so called new ground game was just horrible. when you have a naked choke, who doesnt know to wrap your legs around some part of your apponents body. kimbo looked like a rookie, and when he finally fights a fighter with some skill, he will learn what it feels like to lose, just like all the no-name amateur punks that he fought. i used to like kimbo, but lost all my respect for him as a fighter, this display was really really bad...

i prefer what the UFC are doing with Brock Lesnar, put him in against someone very good and you have an excuse if he loses (he lost to someone really good). Either way, Lesnar put on a good show (albeit a short one) and some people recognise that he has talent.

EliteXC however are babying Kimbo and the downside to babying him is that when something happens like last night you are basically fucked.

For anyone who is not a Kimbo nuthugger or a Kimbo hater for that fact, Kimbo performed under-par, way way under-par. He got put in with someone who has lost most of his recent fights and struggled bad, he didnt even put on a show, didnt show that he has talent.

he was actually not KO'ed by butterbean. if you watch the full fight with replay none of the butterbean shots hit - he just slipped and the fight was stopped. the announcers say it as such - a very bad stoppage.
regardless, butterbean has awesome KO power, just slow and fat.

as for "deserving" the hype, pay and promotion... you'd have to blame that on capitalism. people are willing to pay to watch kimbo, therefore he will be paid accordingly. did michael jackson "deserve" 100s of million of dollars. does britney spears? do nba players deserve millions for playing a game with a ball and hoop? what about david beckham, 250 mil to play soccer?

I PVR-ed (similar to Tivo) the event so I could watch it today. So, uhhh, what the fuck? The PVR stopped recording at the 120 minute mark - as it was supposed to, which unfortunately was just before the Smith/Lawler decision. EliteXC and CBS shit the bed big time on planning out the fights, ads and intermissions. Now here I am like a jackass trying to find a torrent of a network TV program.

Kimbo showed heart and guts in this fight. Taking those elbows to the head like he did and being out-wrestled by a guy of Thompson's (low) caliber must have been demoralizing but he still came out and gave it his all. Even if it wasn't for the ear I think Kimbo would have KOed Thompson soon. He was landing clean fairly regularly and rocking Thompson often.

Sure he gassed, but if you didn't see that coming you're silly. I realize Thompson is kind of a scrub and maybe Mr. Slice shouldn't have had that much trouble with him but I think its wrong to deny that Kimbo has raw talent. If his skills are refined he stands to be a great fighter.

I really would like to see you as champion of all mma one day but that will not happen unless you up your cardio work 100 fold.

If you had the stamina to not lay on the ground after the fight you would not be getting all of this hate feedback on the fight. People think they stopped it because you seemed so tired that if they did not stop it you would have lost. So in the future remember no matter how tired you are, never ever lay on the ground.

Please take this advice if you read this, cardio, cardio, cardio, forget everything else until you can go strong for 4-5 rounds. Being that tired come 3rd round is a big disappointment for us fans. =(

The first two fights ended waaaaay too quickly for how many commercials they had running. I almost went to bed myself, so I'm sure the casual fans and newcomers had tuned out by the time the ladies were up.

I must say the ladies had a good fight but that was a bunch of crap too really because GC couldnt even make weight for a class made just for her. VERY disrespectful. I still like her though, good fight.

Then the last two were stopped early by everyones account. The Lawler/Smith fight was definitley fight of the night till that debacle with the dumbass doctor. Just watched the kimbo/thompson fight... it was rigged. Plain and simple rigged. There was no reason to stop that fight whatsoever.
