Knockout of the Week: Justice Is Served for Glove-Tap Faker

It’s one of the biggest bitch-moves in MMA — acting like you’re going to tap gloves at the start of a fight like a gentleman, and then launching a surprise attack as soon as your opponent is in range. (For examples, see here, here, and here.) At a Legacy FC event in Houston on July 31st, JR Fuller decided to try the unsportsmanlike technique himself, but instead of firing an overhand right like the successful fakers that came before him, he shoots for a takedown. Big mistake. Jonathan Harris throws a perfectly-timed knee, Fuller eats it and hits the mat face-first, Tyson Griffin-style. The official time of the stoppage was 0:05, but the jackass was really out within two seconds. Proving once again, boys and girls: Cheaters never prosper.

Harris didn't look like he was coming out to tap gloves, he was looking to engage, at least right up until the very last second. I gotta give Fuller the benefit of the doubt on this one... If someone came forward like Harris, I think I'd forget about the glove-tap too and maybe shoot... just not, er, like eating a knee in the process...?

I don't think he was going for the glove tap. Besides, they need to take the glove tap out of MMA. The fighters touch gloves before the bell. I think it's smart when fighters refuse to touch gloves before fighting.

And the guy getting KTFO, why did he run straight at his knees like that??? He was looking for a way out of that fight... 5 seconds in.

I think it would be funny if someone came out faked the glove tap and kicked his opponent in the nuts. That person should be disqualified and fired but if your going to be a bitch than go all out and be the best bitch you can!

Wow, what a douche move. Actually, I gotta say thanks to the douche. Watching a knee land clean is sweet, but watching a knee land cleanly on a pos douche putz, is amazing.
PS, really, I think cheaters don't prosper about 15-20% of the time, but who's counting.
