Dana White and Alistair Oveerem are living it up at UFC 93 in this picture from our friends at Free Fight Videos. Semmy Schilt also made it out to the event, but man does Dana ever look chummy with "The Demolition Man." Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but does the look on Overeem's face say, 'I'm putting my arm around this man because he is my new boss,' to you?

It's kind of surprising Overeem wasn't picked up sooner after Zuffa bought Pride. It's not like he wasn't a big enough name in the MMA world at the time. I wonder what has changed. Is it just a case of buying up fighters before Affliction can get their hands on them?

I know that Leben tested positive after fighting in the UK. The test was administered by the UFC itself, not an athletic commission, hence my comment of Overeem asking Dana not to test him

Rua, Crocop, and Nog didnt cycle off the juice you n00b. They had a little problem called getting old. Also all those ass kicking they gave and recieved defiently add up. Kang on the other hand put up a great performance last night and was dominating that whole fight. Some of the combinations he threw were very impressive. He just got caught. I would still say he had an impressive outing. Rua's surgeries most likely are what slowed him down, but he's always been known as not having the best conditioning. He also was lazy and didnt train very hard in pride. Has to pick it up now, or I see Liddell fucking his day up.

Say what you will about Dana, but he almost never makes his guys fight a bunch of cans... unless your name is Gabriel Gonzaga or Cheick Kongo. Plus the game has evolved a lot in only the last 7 years and it seems that most of the Pride talent that they brought in haven't kept up

I feel like they are bringing in Overeem to give Lesnar more competition. The UFC has some good heavyweights, but Lesnar is tipping the scale in muscle mass. That would be a good fight and I think it will happen.

I can't believe there are still people spewing that pride has more talent than ufc bullshit. They both have a lot of good fighters and I wouldn't argue with someone saying they were close, but saying pride had more talent is bs. Heath Herring, Nog, cro cop, shogun, w. silva, chonan, sokoudjou, anderson silva.. those are the pride guys I can think of off the top of my head that are in ufc. Out of those anderson is the only one that's been dominant, and the rest have been relatively unimpressive compared to their hype.
Cro cop beat the shittiest heavyweight in ufc, then had 2 one sided losses. Nog had a piss poor showing against herring, was getting beaten down by sylvia until he pulled the sub, then got tkod by mir in 2 rounds. Shogun is 1-1, losing to a "tuf" fighter and then barely beating coleman in a fight that looks like it took place underwater. Sokoudjou and Cro Cop were very successful in pride and got cut from ufc after 3 fights. Heath Herring got schooled by Jake Obrien. Let's also not forget gomi getting subd by a stoned diaz.
Both orgs have great fighters but the pride nuthugging needs to stop already. There's no more reason to claim pride had a deeper talent pool than ufc.

I haven't seen ANYTHING that would lead me to believe that pride fighters as a whole are better than ufc fighters.

pride had a ton of talent. no denying that. but some of their fighters are really not the same at all without the pride rules. i.e. shogun and wandy. the are not the same without soccer kicks, which may be telling for how good they really are. i was kinda disappointing to not see coleman on his back with shogun standing over him. i was looking forward to how he'd fare without the stomps.
but fighters like hendo and rampage aren't affected negatively by the ufc rules. thats why they are still awesome and are only getting better.
