(Let me get this straight. I’m fighting Carrot Top?)
Falaniko Vitale has been forced off of the August 14 “War on the Mainland” card for unknown reasons and will be replaced by former IFL middleweight champion Matt Horwich (23-13-1) in a Powerhouse World Promotions (PWP) LLC 185-pound championship bout against former number one UFC middleweight contender Thales Leites (17-3-1).
“We’re excited to add Matt Horwich to our already stacked card,” PWP CEO Brian Manna said. “They are two of the best BJJ fighters in the world. Either one will make a great PWP middleweight champion.”
2-6 in his last eight outings, including losses to Dan Miller, Ricardo Almeida and Jason MacDonald, Horwich may not be the fighter most deserving of a title shot, but is likely being rewarded with a crack at the newly-created belt for stepping up to face Leites on less than two weeks notice.
The event, which will be broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Bren Events Center in Irvine, California will also feature two other title fights.
In heavyweight championship action, two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia meets former UFC and Strikeforce title challenger Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello in show’s the main event.
The co-main event will see onetime UFC light heavyweight Jason Lambert (25-11) take on former PRIDE and IFL standout and eight-time World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion Alan Goes (17-3) contend for the promotion’s 205-pound title.
The broadcast, which begins at 10 pm ET on Saturday, August 14, will be available in North America on cable and satellite Pay-Per-View via iN Demand, DIRECTV, Avail-TVN and DISH Network, as well as Viewer’s Choice, Bell TV and Shaw PPV in Canada, for a suggested retail price of only $29.95. It will also be available in the United Kingdom via Primetime Live. The PPV card will also be streamed live on Internet PPV outside of the United States, Canada and United Kingdom by going to www.WarontheMainland.com.

comments"... this is the second place medal I got for nearly winning the three-legged race in fourth grade... over here is my trophy for 10 and under butterfly 100m... this one is for "Most Improved" on my varsity volley-ball squad... that's my boy scout merit badge sash... that's my Champion Fighting Championships money-weight champion belt..."
Tim, as a former champion how do you feel about coming off a pants-crapping loss and challenging the champion for the championship?
*ahem*
champion.
Are you sure it's a Mini-me or is it an evil Quatto? Lorenzoooo...start the reactor Lorenzooooooo!
First step in running my b-grade UFC leftover fight promotion: establish champions. You can't do a thing unless you have champions!
For my second show I will establish interim champions, just for insurance, in case my other champions get hurt or find a real job. In fact, I'll just put "Champions" in my acro-name so that everybody knows whoever fights for me is obviously a champion (probably x100). Maybe Champion Fighting Championships. Sounds very.. championish.
Big IF, tho. Seems like these smaller events get cancelled left and right. Dana's prob'ly plotting some evil shit with Mini Me as I type.
Not cool.
