Maybe It’s Easier Than We Thought For The UFC to Make Nice with “Rampage” Jackson

(Via Rampage Jackson’s Twitter, with the message: "A gift from the UFC. Wanna make a black man happy? Get him a ride!!")

Here’s a question for you, Potato Nation.  Say you’re Dana White and you’ve got yourself yet another problem with "Rampage" Jackson.  Seems he’s running his mouth about how he’s done with the UFC, was never really all that into MMA to begin with, and just wants to finish his contract so he can forget this noise and go be the biggest movie star since Jim Varney.  What do you do to talk him down off the ledge and get him to play nice again?

As those of you who have been following MMA for any length of time already know, DW knows only one foolproof way to make his fighters happy and it’s, Buy the dude a car.  Why?  Because people love cars that they didn’t pay for.  And judging by Jackson’s response — which would fall into the realm of harmful stereotype if we said it, but sounds perfectly reasonable when ‘Page says it — it totally worked.

Who says you can’t fix every interpersonal problem with material goods?  Something tells me Dana White is one hell of a father.

Seriously? Either I didn't lay it on thick enough or my previous comment on the intellect of the CP crew was more accurate than I knew. Ah well, win some lose some. It is a sad indicator of the state of affairs when that comment can be taken seriously even for a moment.

Pretty sick, but I still like his Audi R8 better.

Bitchin' car.

Dismissed.
robthom- March 4, 2010 at 12:57 pm
This gives me the same feeling as those crap hollywood action movies like fast and furious where they think its so cute to take a beautiful classic car and trash it.

What a waste.
cecils_pupils- March 4, 2010 at 12:25 pm
^^^^^^ well said, sir.

And by the way, holy fuck, people. Get off the racist/gender/appalling behaviour shit. Seriously. This is CagePotato, not the U.N.

Also, consider the source material: Quentin Jackson, a man who will never be accused of being the sharpest knife in the drawer, said some dumb shit. That's no more suprising than his use of the word muhfuh all the time.

In counterpoint, we have Dana White. Now here's a man who's obviously an excellent (ruthless) business man, but one who has some difficulty communicating in an adult manner. Although he normally sounds like a fifteen-year old trying to emulate his idea of what a marine sounds like, we can't knock his instinct for business. Which is to say, DW always wins.

kid you should learn some respect for your grandpa's classic muscle cars. i know you edited your comment, but el dorado is not a muscle car. for that matter, this car looks nothing like an el camino either.

and this car is tight as can be!

I'll tell ya - if 'Page doesn't knock Evans out in a big, big way, he's gonna look like a chump. A decision victory will have people all over calling into question his drive/ability/commitment to the UFC.

A loss will practically ruin him in the UFC, although DW will keep him around for a while yet since it's DW's policy to keep guys around for their draw power even if they're not winning shit anymore. Stephan Bonnar is a great example of this. Along with Tito and Crocop. The list goes on for that one.

@ghostboner

Hate speech? What? I am all for open mindedness and non-prejudice and no discrimination, but you have to realize your inaccuracies in your comment. If he is black and he makes a statement that is a stereotype which conveys a general prejudice thought about black people, he is dumb for doing it. Moreover, race is a social construct; therefore, it is a false concept that society invented and holds true when it is in fact erroneous. Additionally, there is a major difference between gender and sex. In the context of your sentence with 'gender', it should be 'sex'. Gender has to do with the specific role and expectations of sexes. And if it were illegal say things like that, it would totally contradict the advocacy of free speech and more importantly, OPEN MINDEDNESS. Likewise, it would infringe upon our existence as individuals to be hassled by the government. You should be appalled at yourself.

Your monologue better be a sarcastic one, otherwise you should invest numerous hours per day delving into education and intellect

I think this purchase proves that DW isn't THAT dumb...Those are the stock rims on the high end model...this car cost maybe $50k...So there you go, he lures Rampage in with the car, then suckers him with no End of Night Bonus against Rashad...Nice move DW.

ReX13- March 4, 2010 at 11:20 am
You know, you might be a redneck if you still own "tapes"....
ghostboner- March 4, 2010 at 11:14 am
@portlandmma - I like how you tried to cleverly avoid admitting your collection of Foxworthy cd's by saying you don't have any of his tapes. he he he. Tapes. You almost had me there.
meanfinger- March 4, 2010 at 11:13 am
@portlandMMA: well your from portland, so your probably tryin to figure out how to make your prius do a burnout.. and you should get a gun, those heroin junkies out there remind me of Zombieland.
ghostboner- March 4, 2010 at 11:10 am
@El Famous Burrito - classic.

What I just can't fathom is this intolerable racism that is allowed to go on. I mean the kind of hate speech that Rampage spewed out is just unacceptable. For him to say such ignorant and plainly racist things is just, well it's racist. And wrong. It is wrong to try to reduce a whole race into a cliche. As if to say that just because of your race and/or gender that you would enjoy getting a free car! Ridiculous, racist, and I think even a bit sexist! I can't believe we let people like that continue to live in what is supposed to be an open minded and tolerant society. Isn't it illegal to say such things? If not it should be. I for one, am appalled.
howardsternspenis- March 4, 2010 at 11:10 am
a challenger? seriously? at least make it a hummer or something more suitable for a "black man.."

and its not a classic muscle car, its a remake of a classic muscle car...there is a difference..know what i mean verne?
PortlandMMA- March 4, 2010 at 11:09 am
I don't want to drive that and I am American. I also don't own a gun or a Jeff Foxworthy tape, so I guess I'm just an un-American SOB.
PortlandMMA- March 4, 2010 at 11:07 am
Why you gotta talk shit about Ernest P. Worrel?
TheHulkSmash- March 4, 2010 at 10:56 am
@meanfinger "if you wouldnt want to drive that your not american.."

Amen. I like the double period! It's like "your not American, period" then with the extra period to be grammatically correct. But then you didn't capitalize the first word in the sentence, properly conjugate "you're" or capitalize "American". That's the kind of inconsistency that makes us so fearsome to our enemies.
meanfinger- March 4, 2010 at 10:17 am
if u wouldnt want to drive that your not american..
KidDinomite- March 4, 2010 at 10:16 am
I don't know, maybe it's the picture. Might be a Pussy Wagon but it sure doesn't look impressive here. Now a brand new Porsche on the other hand......
budsellers- March 4, 2010 at 10:10 am
@cecil - that is a 2010 challenger. not a big deal, but chargers are not nearly as clean looking...
El Famous Burrito- March 4, 2010 at 10:09 am
