Mayweather Calls Out Pacquiao for May 5 Pre-Jail Fight

Floyd Mayweather Jr. must be realizing that the number of fights left for him that people actually want to see at this point in his career are few and far between. Today the soon-to-be-incarcerated WBC, WBA, IBF and The Ring welterweight champion has agreed in principle to face Manny Pacquiao May 5 in Las Vegas.

Money” took to his Twitter and Facebook accounts this afternoon to call out the WBO and WBC welterweight champ. Pacman’s camp has yet to respond to the challenge, but his promoter Bob Arum is said to be in the Philippines negotiating Manny’s next fight.

There has been some talk from Arum recently that the cut Pacquiao sustained in his November bout with Juan Manuel Marquez may prevent him from competing until June. Analysts have hypothesized that this is either merely a negotiating ploy by Arum, who used to promote Mayweather, or his way of protecting his biggest asset from a possible defeat, which woul diminish future returns on his investment.

If Pacquiao doesn’t accept the bout, the two other candidates to face Mayweather are junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and lightweight champ Robert Guerrero.

Mayweather was scheduled to begin his 87-day jail term at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas last Friday after being found guilty of battery domestic violence and harassment, but his attorney was able to convince the judge to delay his term until June 1 so he could fulfill a contractual obligation for the May 5 fight.

Come on, Manny. Don’t be scared, homie.

Xeno, I'm mean because the same bullshit keeps happening over and over and frankly it's embarrassing. I don't feel bad about being mean because it happens over and over again, and their readers complain constantly, and they make ZERO effort to fix any of it. Not only that, they don't even acknowledge the complaints. They have the time to change my name to dick farmer, but they can't take the time to post a comment saying.. "hey listen guys, we know you hate X, and we apologize for that, but here's the thing. We can't change it because of X. Sorry, but our hands are tied." or something like that. If you have leadership that has policy that must be followed and you have no control over the captcha, the shit picture viewer, the edit button, and so on... say so. That's what I do at work when I have to give people answers they don't like. I don't just let complaints fall on deaf ears and give them no answer. I say "I'm sorry, but we can't do that because..." or "I'd love do that for you, but it's against company policy and my management won't allow it". As for this particular instance.. come the fuck on.. read what you write before you post it to a website that thousands (givin cp the benefit of the doubt here) of people read. Most of us learned about proof reading in the 3rd grade. I am more careful with my comments than they are with the actual articles. That's why I bitch relentlessly. Don't like it? Throw an edit button on this shit, get rid of the captcha, and read what you fucking right before you post it to a website where people are going to read and comment on it. And xeno, you're too old to be calling people out for fist fights, and I would fuck you up anyway.

@ArmFarmer . . . Karma actually said that shit?!? What a fucking racist.

Boxing is done. This Mayweather clown is the best they got? Make the fight I guess. Enjoy watching the last interesting fight as your sport sputters, sh*ts itself and dies.

It's shame to see what was once great reduced to hoping a wife beating dirtbag can fight the guy he should have fought 3 years ago, but didn't have the grapes. Oh and hoping to get it done before the filty coward has to report to jail.

Yep...a god damn shame.

Since I get picked apart by CP writers and editors using stage names, but who are destined to end up as grade school teachers, the EDIT Button.
I have only been around for a short time, yet the majority of people have from day one asked for a edit button. And what the fuck, I am willing to fight ArmFarmer live on the open internet to get the Edit Button after only about 8 months. GRIN
The image gallery issue seems to be easier to fix. But the exception is that it has display the images for both the home user - and the mobile user. Seems easy if your in a big city to get 4G through-put, but I think it's more difficult for displaying the video and audio than one might guess.
One way to defeat the slow lag times used 10 + years ago for was to install into the network a "streaming rate controller". Back then, it was used for the sliding quality of DSL connections across the USA.
In LA, Chicago, or NYC, people could get better than 500 kbps connections, yet Mr. and Mrs retired couple in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere could get less than 56 kbps.
The solution was to allow for connections to 3 entirely different feed rates. Back then either 56k, 250k, and 500k feed was handed off based on the initial handshake speed of the connection.
Today there are smarter and better methods available...but there is big truth that it is not easy to send both audio and video unless your paying for a dedicated closed loop network and have redistribution servers.
If this is the architecture you have bought into (big capital investment), then the next mistake many still make is that you have to ensure you have a twice the bandwidth available.
Rule is: Send one 100K stream to one user, and you require 200K of bandwidth. It gets spending fast when you have to order large pipes from AT&T on a dedicated basis to move your data to collocated distribution.
Why, because over the open interweb you will drop packets, have packets discarded, and have to resend lost data. This affects buffer and display times on the user side and makes for unhappy end users,
CP doesn't have their own closed loop network, they supply hyperlinks and redirects. Hence they have no real network, and no costs. Flip side is, they have zero control over the videos we watch.
As for static images, that is a similar but much much easier problem to address. None of this shit is my specialty any longer, but since you asked, the EDIT Button is much more desirable.
People always re-read their own posts after hitting submit. If the same people could fix their grammatical fuck-ups, more people who type fast from work or are careless and shitty writers like me would post more to drive traffic. Now they only sit and lurk.
One never gets paid from lurkers who don't interact, no?

@Xeno - Which would you rather, edit button or properly functioning gallery?
XENOPHON- January 11, 2012 at 11:48 am
Fuck CP live phone calls. I got a better idea. Hear me out.
You may just be a bigger cocksucker than me. I do troll and talk allot of shit, but you actually are a much meaner person. The difference is your choice of vernacular and your tone.
Personally I don't mind when you go after me, cause I am here to spar anyway. But for the weaklings you go after and pick off with ease - are you open to a idea?

How would you like to have a public fight with me. I will fly you to the offices of CP in LA, meet you there and we can have a exhibition fight in front of their live cameras.
How about it AF, I will sign their attorneys waiver provided they pull the permit. And any money they can figure out how to make, can go to purchasing Karma that camera so he can do more interviews and record his fights.
If I win, only one request. That Break Media's pussy CEO, tell their CTO to spend the money to have a developer come in and add the edit button.
And if you win, they supply you with one request also. So how about it...don't tell me you can't take a 45 year old man - not with all that shit you talk. I know you got to be a bad-ass muther fucker.
If not, no pressure. No embarrassment. Just thought you might be open to the idea...
ArmFarmer- January 11, 2012 at 10:19 am
Sloppyspray is right.. comments with no substance are best left ignored. I wasn't even offended (offending me is near impossible) I just think "what a pointless comment" and move on. Actually, there was one comment that i found offensive. A few articles back Karma said "i have no interest in seeing jon jones vs anderson silva". Now that comment is unforgivable.
XENOPHON- January 11, 2012 at 9:35 am
Pacquiao can stay in his native lands and go back to eating grilled dog. I hope they fight, the sooner the better. I hope Mayweather busts Pacquiao's skull open.

@Shaky - Is this your first time on there internet? Well let me explain, there are people, or things, called trolls. Do not feed that trolls.
Sloppyspray- January 11, 2012 at 7:42 am
Nothing pissed me off more than the last Mayweather fight. God damnit I was about to kick a hole through my wall b/c of that, or at least try.
B/c of Twitter's character limit Mayweather wasn't able to include the parts of "only if you agree to allow me to choose when you will be drug tested which will include 15 minutes before the fight (up to a week before and immediately after the fight? no not good enough), and you will be butt raped every hour leading up to the fight."
Shaky- January 11, 2012 at 7:42 am
What's shocking is that nobody in the comments section pulled up Redmoose on his blatat racism. Don't give me the political correctness is nonsense argument because that was plain racist.

Mayweather, like you Redmoose, is a prick, it has nothing to do with the colour of his or your skin. You are just pricks.
ArmFarmer- January 11, 2012 at 6:46 am
LOL @ dickfarmer... sneaky bastards.
Romeo_Must_Rock- January 10, 2012 at 11:30 pm
i doubt pacquiao would take the fight already he's only got a few fights left in his career, taking this fight or not he's still p4p best, hall of famer, etc. he wouldn't want to take his biggest test now specially when he's the people champ in the philippines. mayweather's antics and trashtalking towards pacquiao made mayweather the philippines's #1 enemy. so losing against mayweather would really be a huge blow. pacquiao not being able to knock out his past few opponents already received a lot of negativity in the philippines, so losing to the philippine's #1 enemy would be a nightmare. pacquiao has a lot to lose in this fight. if only this fight happened 2-3 years ago, where he is a lot stronger and faster. now, its hard to see pacquiao beating mayweather, unless pacquiao survives 12 rounds, we all know everyone is in favor of pacquiao to win that fight.

Most heavy-handed fighters have the ability to stagger their opponents, but if given sufficient time, their opponents can recover and regain their stamina within the same round. For example, Rashad and Keith Jardine both showed that unless Rampage hits you on the button like he did to Wanderlei, you can recover from one of his hard punches within a minute or two even if it staggers you. The same was shown by Jake Shields and Shogun against Henderson.

Alvarez, however, is one of those rare talents whose so powerful that it's impossible to recover from one of his shots during a round. If Alvarez lands a hard left to your body, your stamina is gone for the remainder of the round and can't be regained until you get a break on your stool, sort of like losing an energy bar in a fighting video game. This was shown during his recent fight with Cintron. A Canelo/Mayweather fight would be interesting because even though Mayweather has tremendous defense, a few of Alvarez's shots inevitably are going to land (though unbeaten, Mayweather's not perfect and gets hit with a few shots in every fight). If Canelo can stagger Mayweather like Mosley did to him during the second round, Mayweather isn't going to be able to regain his composure without a break in his corner, and Canelo would have the best chance of finishing Mayweather of any opponent to date.

In my opinion, it would be a mistake for Floyd to fight Alvarez at this point in his career. Alvarez is a monster.
Dizzylittlelord- January 10, 2012 at 7:25 pm
surprised people want to even be around this man let alone do an event with him. dudes a woman beater, hope he gets fucked up in prison
rampageisgod- January 10, 2012 at 5:44 pm
I knew he was gonna do something like this for months. The tool proved me right.
itsgalf- January 10, 2012 at 5:37 pm
like Machida calling out Chael Sonnen even though he was already booked to fight Munoz?
Joedirt- January 10, 2012 at 5:28 pm
Floyd is only challenging for 1 of 2 reasons... maybe both. 1-Pacmans last fight did show a way to neutralize his pace... and 2- He must know the fight won't happen for other reasons. Kind of like picking a fight when you have a friend there holding you back. Trying to win the fans over by saying HE wants the fight and Pacman is ducking.
El Guapo- January 10, 2012 at 4:59 pm
Even tho' Floyd and JMM are both superb counter punchers, their styles are like night and day. Dinamita uses alot of lateral movement while Floyd stays in the pocket and utilizes more bobbing and weaving.
Money's a great defensive boxer(one of the best alltime)but aggresive, punches in bunches type of guys give him trouble. As do southpaws. Manny's both. And better.
DickFarmer- January 10, 2012 at 4:42 pm
You know what's really sad? The fact that mayweather's tweets are more well written than this article... Ah good ol cp.. can always count on you for random capitalization, factual errors, and not proof reading before you post. Between the writing and xeno's comments this site can really give you a headache.
Rear Naked Poke- January 10, 2012 at 4:41 pm
Floyd finally calls out Pac Man after Juan Manuel Marquez laid down the blue print on how to beat him, typical Floyd cherry picking his fights. But after seeing Manny get out boxed by JMM, Floyd has a legit shot at winning this by dec.
El Guapo- January 10, 2012 at 4:35 pm
Floyd is so insecurrr it ain't even funny anymore. He wants to be the man SO f'kn bad but that ship has sailed ever since Manny destroyed Oscar, and even more so now that he recently pleaded guilty to beating up his baby momma in front of their kids.
So now he calls out Manny because he has a date with the booty house on the horizon? Bitch pleeeease. The fight could've been made two years ago had he not starting talking out of his ass and publicly accusing Pac of juicing.
Worst part about it is Floyd most likely would have beat Manny back then IMO. If- big IF - they do end up fighting(which will most likely be in November so they can hype the shit out of it and build an outdoor arena in Vegas specifically for the fight and cram in an extra 30,000 people or so at 300 a pop)I'd give Manny the advantage just because Floyd's getting up there in age and relies so much on his quickness and timing.
skeletor- January 10, 2012 at 4:21 pm
You guys act like Arum is the only one who doesn't want to see this fight. Mayweather will figure out a way not to do this as well.
