Do you ever see or hear something and say, "Man, that has to be a joke," and then you find out to your surprise that it’s legit and still think it’s fake?

About a year ago, I stumbled upon this Saturday Night Live-esque video and archived it, knowing that it likely wouldn’t last long when the MMA messageboard jackals got a hold of it.

Anyway, the guy in the self-aggrandizing UFC audition tape above, JayT, is apparently gunning to be the next Joe Rogan or Ariel Helwani and is calling himself "Canada’s premiere mixed martial arts interviewer and host," despite never having interviewed a fighter or MMA personality. 


I had forgotten all about the guy until I stumbled upon a photo of him on the red carpet for the premiere of the GSP-David Loiseau documentary, The Striking Truth last Thursday.

According to the dude’s Facebook page, he is still moving full steam ahead with his career as an MMA interviewer, but he has pushed back the start date until 2011.

I know a lot of MMA fans and media-types love to give guys like Rogan, Mike Goldberg and Mauro Ranallo flack, but when you look at the people waiting in the wings to take them out (and possibly wear a trench coat made from the skin from their corpses), we really don’t have a hell of a lot to complain about.

Since the video was made (and disappeared from the net), JayT changed his name from UFC JayT to MMA JayT, likely as a result from a cease and desist letter he received from the Zuffa legal department. That didn’t stop him from including a few UFC fighters on his website, which is basically just a splash page with no other content.
