Michael Bisping Is One Win Away From Anderson Silva

Michael Bisping MMA UFC
("If you'd like to donate to the Michael Bisping Memorial Fund...")

According to UFC prez Dana White (via Fighters Only magazine), Michael Bisping would be ready for a title shot if he manages to defeat Dan Henderson following their coaching stints on The Ultimate Fighter: Team U.S. vs. Team U.K., which is scheduled to premiere on April 1st after UFC Fight Night 18. The only thing that would prevent an immediate title shot for Bisping in this scenario is if Anderson Silva is tied up in the light-heavyweight division. As White explains:

“With the exception of Bisping, [Silva] has cleaned out the [middleweight] division. The logical step is for him to move up to light-heavyweight. One thing I like from boxing is that fighters often move up when they clean out their weight class — although apart from that I generally use boxing as an example of what not to do [with the UFC]."

Ever the good employee, Bisping is already preparing mentally for the possibility. As he tells FO:

“I think with Silva you have to rough him up a bit, get in his face and smother his work. I think that is where people have been going wrong, they give him the distance to work with.”

Oh man. Fighters talking about the proper way to beat Anderson Silva (and Fedor Emelianenko) never stops being hilarious to me. It should be noted that Dan Henderson actually had some early success against Silva with an aggressive rough-'em-up style during their fight at UFC 82 last March, but that only made the Spider angrier, and Hendo was obliterated in the second round. And as we saw in his last fight against Patrick Cote, Anderson Silva now has the power to blow-out knees using only his mind. So basically, Bisping had better start training with Freddie Roach, or he has no chance in this one.

Comments

Freddie Roach? Motherfucker will need Professor X.

i don't even think bisping can get past henderson in the first place

he can if its in England. Only damn way he got past Hamil, and hell, Elvis Sinosek almost knocked the sorry bastard smooth out.

P.S. He's a royal turd

Is Bisping aware that he's been protected and groomed? How does a "great" middle-weight fighter like Bisping manage to never fight:

1) Nate Marquart
2) Yushin Okami
3) Thales Leites
4) Damien Maia
5) Rich Franklin
6) Dan Henderson

Look closely at his record. He's beat nobody of consequence. Ever. I like the guy and his hard-knocks road to the UFC is pretty cool... but c'mon. A win over Jason Day and Leben doesn't make you the guy who's going to unravel the Anderson enigma.

Could he please, for the love of God, just shut the fuck up!!! I can't stand him. He doesn't deserve to fight either Henderson or Franklin let alone Anderson Silva. He just gave an interview where he called out Liddell and is eager to KO Wandy.

This coming from the same prick that refuses to admit he lost to Hamill, dropped a weight class after losing to Rashad (and I do think he would get KTFO if he fought Rashad today), and boasted that his plan was to "earn the decision" against Leben. Now he wants us to believe he's figured out how to rough up Anderson when he couldn't do that to Leben.

Could somebody please put this fool out of his misery

so does this mean that if Hendo wins he gets another shot at silva?

I agree, Bisping is an idiot who has his head so far up his own ass, he doesn't know what is going on.
Hendo will school him, but no doubt, the UFC will rush Bisping back after a defeat, for a title shot.

You know you're fucking good when shit-talking keyboard warriors can't shut up about a time you maybe ALMOST lost 2 YEARS AGO.
Haters will always find a reason to hate, I suppose.

@ rokabee

Yes.

I agree with Jugger. Except for the liking him part. I hope that Anderson Silva perfects his mental powers and makes his head explode a la Scanners

You are right mate.
but in fairness, he has not been in the middle weight division that long, but what you say is true though. He needs to fight a couple of top top middle weights, not just one, before he fights silva.
Personally, I think Okami should be first in line to fight silva, no wonder he looks so depressed in the Octagon, its almost like he knows, the UFC are going to keep over looking him.

LOL @ passout... "royal turd" should be his new ring name.

Yeah, just compare his fight against Leben to Silva's. Scaaaary difference there.

Bisping will lose to Hendo, Hendo will lose to Silva. What I don't get is why Silva would move up when he hasn't faced Demian Maia. Demain Maia will win by submission if the UFC will just let the fight happen.

Well none of this really matters anyway. Bisping is not even close to Hendo as far as skill goes, so I don't see him actually winning. It's just the matter that Henderson is the likely pick to win, Bisping has no trait over Henderson's. Hendo has better stand up and ground game. He also has experience, cardio is somewhat a toss up, I'd say its just about equal. No matter where this fight goes Hendo will most likely get the best of it, and I hope so to. Out of all the fighters who fought Silva in the UFC, I think Henderson came the closest to defeating him (I'm not counting Travis Lutter, because it was not for the belt) which will make for a great fight. My only concern is that a fight between Hendo and Silva is probably more than a year from now, will Hendo be able to beat Silva at 39?

I agree that Okami should have a shot at Silva...but looks like Dana will just keep helping out his new british butt buddy!

Watching your guyseses comments is like watching kids with downs syndrome playing with scissors. I can't stop laughing at the stupidity.

Speak English Tuf Guy......guyseses??

I can see Bisping beating Dan using the same gameplan he used against Leben. Use a timid striking game to win points and go for a decision... especially if it goes down in his back yard. Dan is better, yes, but Bisping could backpedal enough to pull it off.

I can just see Bisping when Anderson get's his heat-lock on at the beginning of round 2. You know, when you can almost see Silva find his range... beep, beep, beep, beep, beeeeeeeeeeeeeep *target acquired*. Then the feces hits the oscillater. Bisping will be like, "Dang, guess I forgot to smother him."

I actually didn't mind Bisping on TUF. However, that being said, once he made his break in the UFC, that changed totally. I'm at the point now, where I don't care if its Cabbage Correira... in a Bisping vs. fight, I'm rooting for the other guy. Bisping's a complete f*ckstick.

Which is why I'm totally looking forward to a Bisping vs. Silva fight. I know he doesn't deserve a title shot, but I'm gonna love watching him get knocked the f*ck out. I only hope Silva shatters his jaw so we don't have to hear him speak when his mouth's wired shut.

Henderson will own Bisping anyway. So would Franklin. I think Bisping knows he's being protected, but he's too damn scared to man up and fight some real fighters.

Bisping is a tool, but why is everybody so worked up about it? He's gonna get smashed by Dirty Dan, and personally I'm excited for that. It's ok to suck but you gots to keep it real. Bisping does not keep it real.

^^^ Atleast Forrest Griffin KNOWS he's over rated...

LOL @ cation and anderson mind powers

i think your forgetting the fact that he has to beat dan henderson in order to get that title shot. If he beats dan henderson he is a legitimate contender and you cant deny it, with that win he will be 8-1 in the ufc with his only loss coming at the hands of the current light heavyweight champ rashad evans

He pretty much came out and told the world he would never be able to beat Anderson when he said “I think with Silva you have to rough him up a bit, get in his face and smother his work. I think that is where people have been going wrong, they give him the distance to work with.”

Honestly when was the last fight he didn't back peddle the whole time? Is there one cuz I musta missed that one. Most every fight I've seen him in he worked real hard to keep his distance so he could counter punch and leave it to the judges.

Well... I have to disagree with most of you on this one. I really want to see Bisping fight Anderson Silva.

All of you who said Bisping has had an incredibly easy road and doesn't deserve a title shot... you are absolutely right. All of you who said he isn't in Anderson's class and should shut his ugly cockney mouth about someone far superior to his limited skill-level... you are absolutely right. Everyone who said Bisping would get destroyed by Dan Henderson (and probably about 5 or 6 other middleweights that aren't Anderson Silva)... you are absolutely right.

But I still want to see this match. Mainly because I want Anderson Silva to have another spectacular, highlight reel knockout, and Bisping's over-confident ass is just begging to be on the other end of that.

Michael "the Count How Few Good Fights I've Had" Bisping is being used in England the way Brandon "the Truth Is I'm Not A Contender" Vera is being used with the Filipino fans [despite being born in the states]- to gain PPV buys and popularity for simply being native/descendant to the areas. There's a lot of money to be made over there and squashing Bisping under the best fighters too soon wouldn't set up the overseas events to really cash in. Build him up as a local hero for a while and give England someone to declare as their representative and it'll be more lucrative. You know, Canada has GSP. The only difference is GSP is insanely talented and Bisping is good enough to not get killed. I hate even using the two in the same paragraph, but that's the way it goes. If it looked like Israel was a good place to cash in, all of a sudden you'd see a big change in the way a mid-card Jewish fighter with a so-so record is marketed.

The only way to beat the spider is to bring some sort of weapon into the fight. I don't know.....a switchblade in the cup, ..........a throwing star snuck into the ring in one of your gloves, ......... maybe some blinding "blood sport" powder under a headband. Fuck, I don't know I wouldn't fight the guy.
Nice knowing you Bisping.

what are those bumps on his forehead?

get proactive homie.

The UFC, from a business standpoint, cant allow someone with little fame/spotlight to fight Anderson on the small chance they might win. Okami, Im sorry buddy, but no casual fan even knows you exist. Bisping is a TUF alum, has a decent win streak rolling, and has a huge following...

Everyday I read these articles/comments and I am amazed at how many people dont understand the business aspects of promoting. You cant have your up and comers lose to someone who already lost to Anderson; The point is to get Anderson Silva in the ring defending his belt, not to watch all possible competition lose setting up nothing but rematches with already beaten/destroyed opponents.

I, for one, say Bisping should be allowed to fight A.S. Win or lose its the biggest title fight 185 can produce now. I would imagine more PPV buys for Bisping/silva than any Hendo/Franklin/Marquart/etc rematch.

Its is about time Bisping is exposed. Dan Henderson and Anderson Silva will destroy him. He has been given his current position in order to justify him being a TUF coach and to build up the UFC in the UK.

@ Thoughts,

I think MOST people on here realize that the UFC is a business and that Bisping is a "product". We realize that it's in the UFC's best interested to milk him as much as they can. We also realize that Bisping MUST create interest in himself by calling out fighters and creating drama. We also realize that certain fighters, even if they have amazing talent, can't be marketed due to their lack of drama or inability to speak English and therefore promote themselves as well as a less talented fighter could.

But who wants to talk about that?

@jugger,

I think you are dreaming if you think that most people here understand that. Take pride in tha fact you are one of the few who does.

i think the ufc should feed bisping to wandy when wandy decides to go down in weight. i would really like to see bisping go against that one Brazilian dude who was throwin gumby around the other night. i really dont think bisping is good enough to fight with the likes of Anderson or Henderson.

Eh bisping hasn't really beaten anyone all that impressive. I dont have a vendetta or anythin against the guy, like a lot of people seem to on here, but it's the truth. There are plenty of fighters who should go ahead of him, but the sad fact is that bisping is from england and has occasionally run his mouth. I think he should have to fight someone a little more his own level before Hendo, because honestly, he'll probably get wrecked.

I think the England vs. USA thing is gonna turn out to be a really bad idea.

to the yank who called bisping a cockney WRONG cockneys are londoners you spaz bastard now u can go back to licking bus windows.uk vs usgay is stuipid because hendos has 2 british grandparents so we carnt lose the coaches match.and yr team of sweaty wrestlers are gona get beaten like a dog thats humping yr leg kind of like all yr droopy tited mums or in american mommy.all of you can suck my purple helmet like your mums were bread to.talk shit back if you want am not even gona look at or read this page again because am to bizzy squrting love piss in yr mums face and eating her snatch.you think bisping is cocky and arrogant its called personality you set of fucking girls dresses and thats entertainment.

uh...can anyone translate this wanker's comment?

@ i love the calm before the storm it reminds me of beethoven

You have a "PURPLE helmet"?

It's a well known fact he's being kept around because he holds a large euro fan base. He would get obliterated by silva. I mean i'm talking the first 30 seconds TKO/KO.

To be honest the best matchup for Silva would be if the winner of Penn/GSP went up in weight to take on the champ. That fight would have rogan fapping mid sentence and attempting to jump the cage and join in on the action.

all i know is someone needs to knock that fuck blaxecan Brazilian ho bag out already.... I vote GSP.. mabe the Vaseline will help
