Mike Pyle to Replace Injured Dong Hyun Kim Against John Hathaway at UFC 120

(Does training with Martin "The Hitman" Kampmann help Pyle prepare for John "The Hitman" Hathaway?

Xtreme Couture welterweight Mike "Quicksand" Pyle will step in for injured Dong Hyun Kim to face fast-rising British welterweight John "The Hitman" Hathaway at UFC 120 on October 16 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

The bout was first reported by Gareth Davis of the UK’s The Daily Telegraph and has since confirmed the bout with sources close to both camps.

Pyle (20-7-1) is 2-2 in his UFC career with wins over Jesse Lennox and Chris Wilson and losses to Jake Ellenberger and Brock Larson.

4-0 in the Octagon, Hathaway (14-0), an undefeated product of London Shootfighters, logged the biggest win of his career  – a unanimous decision over TUF 1 middleweight winner Diego Sanchez in his last fight at UFC 114 in May.

Also on the card will be a main event middleweight match-up between Yoshihiro Akiyama and Michael Bisping as well as a welterweight contendership bout between Carlos Condit and Dan Hardy.

Dong is certainly one injury prone man. He, Cote, Irwin and Sherk should start a support group.

This is an exciting card. UFC is clearly grooming Hathaway to be their next UK poster boy. Good thing because bisping is a turd.

I think the co-main event is going to be Pedro Martinez-Don Zimmer II.

Zimmer has HUGE following over in England.

Hardy Vs Condit is going to be an epic fight indeed!

Hathaway looks like a great prospect. The guy is super respectable and a warrior.

Fightfinder on Shermfrog found no less than 29 hitmans and 44 pitbulls.
ghostboner- July 20, 2010 at 9:34 pm
Ooooohh Richard Goininsideya brings up a good question. I gotta say pitbulls, cause Arlovski is the man. As long as Jonathan Goulet doesn't change his name to Hitman, I'll take the pits. And this card looks tits. Diabate Vs. Gustaffson is gonna be awesome!

I want to see an open weight tournament to see who gets to keep the nickname "hitman" (Brilz, Hathaway, Kampmann, Misaki, I'm sure there's more...). We could do "Pitbull" on the same night and then have the winners face off in an ultimate elimination to see what's more strongerer- pitbulls or hitmans.

@ Almost North

Steve Cantwell has been really working on his Jujube Jitsu, I hope TBA has taken this into account when they meet October 16 at the O2 Arena in London, England.
I think Steve has a real chance of upsetting TBA. JMO

Almost North... that was a beautiful reference...

I just wanna see Hathaway fight again, he looked pretty fucken sharp against Diego

TBA by rear naked late in the 2nd. Everyone underestimates his ground game.

Oh and don't forget the Bluth Family annual TBA fundraiser is coming up.

This card looks real sexy. I don't see any of the favorites losing.
Tai-Pan- July 20, 2010 at 5:54 pm
Damn, Mike Pyle doesn't strike me as a move up from Diego but oh well. 4-0 in the Octagon deserves a little better.

Travis Browne and Cheick Kongo should be an entertaining KO, and Hardy Condit is tough to call. Good fights, but good thing its not a PPV.

Hardy vs Condit should be epic.
War Hardy!

That TBA guy gets around.

Pretty nice card. I'd like to see what Hathaway is made of, and if he keeps on the same track hopefully a new title contender.

This card is full of "totally mailing it in because it's in the UK and it's gonna be on Spike".
