Mir on Lesnar: “I Probably Wouldn’t Like Me Either If I Made Myself Tap Out in Ninety Seconds”

Watch Frank Mir Talks About His Upcoming Fight with Brock Lesnar on

A little less than three months out from his rematch with Brock Lesnar at UFC 100, and Frank Mir is already starting in on the trash talk and mind games in this Raw Vegas interview.  He’s decided to go the self-deprecating route, which means Forrest Griffin has a royalty check coming.  Mir also isn’t afraid to toss a few little burns in there just for the hell of it, even commenting at one point on the "penis" tattooed on Lesnar’s chest.  You can thank Dave Farra for bringing that up.  Hey, we were all thinking it.

Aside from the Lesnar talk, Mir offers the best response yet to the inevitable Fedor questions.  Instead of doubting his credentials and just refusing to talk about the guy, Mir says it’s "not fair" that other heavyweights have gotten a chance to feel how hard Fedor hits and he might never get that opportunity.  You have to admit he has a point.  It’s about time somebody called Fedor out on his discriminatory punching practices.

Alright well lets see what i remember, f=ma, yes things can break like an arm but you need to look at the opposing force, ie his muscle in this case, he would not simply let his arm go straight, he would keep it bent with both of his arms

1. You're incredibly ignorant here, go take a physics class.
2. I agree.
3. Randy outwrestled Brock and got in a lot of good hits, he just crumpled when Brock connected; people should watch that fight again, Lesnar was straight up losing. I'm not taking anything away from him, he won and it was because of his power and skill, but let's not pretend he shut Randy down the whole fight or crap like that.

The way people are talking is just stupid
1. brock will not break something, too big and too strong for something like that to likely happen
2. Yes mir is a good fighter, so is brock, this fight is going to be amazing no matter who wins.
3. Randy couture is not much different than he was before, he is the same randy that beat gonzaga and just got straight up beat in his fight, he will beat nog, this is not pride and fights are called too early for him

I still cringe and tear up a little every time i am reminded that mir beat Nog.

Like him or hate him -- Mir's one of the smarter men to step in the octogan.

He is unneedingly sure of himself -- but generally seems more intelligent then other fighters walking into the cage.

Fedor would kill him -- but I think that Mir believes that is a possibility.

Let me say this to all the people who want Lesnar to win and hate Mir. MIR IS GOING TO BREAK SOMETHING ON LESNAR. and when that happens ill bow my head and say, the king is back, the king has his crown again and all is right with the world.

Lesner def Mir via spear then flying elbow off the top of the cage.

I hope Mir wins...I love a comeback story.

And I could pull a hair over Brock Lesnar being champ. He beat Randy because Randy is old and can't take a punch anymore, and that's it. Randy is 100,000,000 times the fighter Brock is or ever will be.

Mir by sub, Round 1 or 2.
just some dong- April 21, 2009 at 1:35 pm
...Mir talking about how he doesn't even look at a guy's biceps or muscles... yeah, good thinking. Since when has a size/strength advantage ever won a fight? Especially in the HW division?

I get what he's saying and why he said it - plenty of big guys have lost to smaller opponents, and he's trying to psych himself up for the match. But Brock's a different sort of monster... I almost shit myself when he jumped onto the cage after beating Randy.

If Mir wins this fight, it will be by questionable means again. If Lesnar wins, it will be brutal and decisive.

I hope Mir is building up his orbital bone strength.
The Truth- April 21, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Whats funny is the steroid remarks. If he was taking steroids now, they would catch him(sherk). If he used to, he would be in even better shape now if he didnt. Post steroid bodies are even worse if you dont maintain your schedule.

Wrestling neutralizes BJJ because of the body control while entering the ground phase. As soon as BL learns what Mir is looking for, loose limb wise, then the BJJ isnt near as valuable. BTW, howya gonna choke someone that doesnt have a neck.

Doctor stoppage in round 2. Mir cant score a takedown, so the fight only goes there if BL wants it too. Mir cant sub him from the bottom.

Your Fucking Father- April 21, 2009 at 12:14 pm
I hate both of these assholes, Dave should watch what the fuck he says about a guy who is eight times his size. And Frank needs to remember that Brock would have won that fight 100% without a doubt if the ref would not have stood it up. And for the guy who said the ref warned Brock three times but it was not heard because of the crowd, are you a moron? What do you expect him to say knowing he fucked up and now the UFC wont let him ref a Brock fight?
smashfacekillah- April 21, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Mir def Lesnar via death touch
Smackdaddiest1- April 21, 2009 at 11:43 am
@ Darwin - What neck is he supposed to apply the RNC to? Lesnar doesn't have one.

Mir has a short memory. He was getting his ass literally handed to him for the first 87 of those 90 seconds.

This one's over in the first rd. Lesnar by TKO.
Payday- April 21, 2009 at 11:07 am
I would buy a PPV that involved that "journalist" talking shit to Brock's face about his tattoo.
Stormshadow- April 21, 2009 at 10:56 am
I think Mir has some good perspective. And he is not only the best MMA commentary guy, but rapidly becoming one of the more liked fighters thanks to his recent comments and interviews. I guess he has grown up a lot the past most of us. Personally I would like him to demolish Brock...but i see him submitting more likely if he wins. Who could pass up Fedor Vs Brock?? Fedor Vs Mir would satisfy me though.
ADW- April 21, 2009 at 10:53 am
Holy shit!! Am I actually starting to LIKE Frank Mir?!!?!? What the hell is going on!! I think I have gone insane!!!
Truth2Pwr- April 21, 2009 at 10:52 am
Lesnar obviously has a shot at beating Mir with those cattle prod punches of his, but the fact that Mir is slicker than MRS. ALL CAPS worn out cooch off of his back pretty much neutralizes the wrestling aspect. I kind of look at it like Serra vs St. Pierre. GSP wins that fight 9 times out of 10, but on any given night you never know if that one lucky fight is gonna happen. Same thing with Lesnar vs Mir. As Mir has accurately stated, there is no way that Lesnar is gonna catch up to his BJJ skillset in this lifetime. There just aren't any steroids out there that will build up the muscle memory and strategic recognition required. Can Brock pound out a TKO? Definitely. But is my money gonna be on Mir to sub him again...and again...and again if they fought best out of ten? Yup.

@ G funk:

You got that right. I try to like Mir because he talks about respectfulness but then turns into a MEGA douche in the same breath.
