Mirko Cro Cop Screws DREAM, Returns to the Previously-Screwed UFC

Yesterday’s rumors of Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic returning to the UFC just got considerably realer. According to MMA Weekly, Cro Cop has dropped out of his scheduled DREAM 10 match against Mighty Mo, in order to free up his schedule for a fight against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 (September 19th, Dallas). Said Dos Santos, who was originally slated to face Justin McCully at UFC 102:

"To me it’s incredible. When they asked me if they could change the fight date I was a bit bothered, because I wanted to fight right away. I’ve been away for some time now. But the Fertitta brothers asked me and I accepted. After that I found out it would be against Cro Cop and was overjoyed. It’ll be a big opportunity in my career. Lots of good things have happened in my life and this is one more. I’m going to make the most of it."

Considering how pissed off Dana White was when Cro Cop first flew the coop, it’s a little surprising that he’s being given a second chance. The UFC must have big plans for him in the heavyweight division. But Santos — who has run through Fabricio Werdum and Stefan Struve in a combined 2:15 of fight time during his stint in the UFC — has a way of laughing at men’s plans, then crapping all over them.

Don't ever fire Cro Cop. Have him as a UFC gatekeeper - all the new guys must beat him to get in...and if they lose we'll likely have more head kick highlights.

Cro Cop would seem more interesting at 205. Is he that big that he couldn't get there? Seems like 215-220 pounders in the HW division may be a thing of the past.

i tried telling everyone on every comment section and every message board on the damn internet, that cro-cop was not gone from the UFC at any point. yes , there was drama surrounding him. however he was still under contract, he was still listed on the UFC website. and contrary to what a lot of people thought, he did have a contract with the UFC. it wasnt just an OVER_THE_PHONE type of thing. he did make the initial deal over the phone with dana white, however when he got to the states he signed the one fight deal. he told them after the fight he would renegotiate. then all that drama happened. now look, my name CC is back, after dos antos, he should face the winner of noguiera vs. couture, and the winner of that epic battle should fight for the belt. whether at that point it is lesnar, Mir, velasquez or Carwin. i think lesnar wins (although i want Mir to win) then he will fight carwin (hopefully carwin wins against cain), and then in should be Cro-Cop VS. Lesnar. EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CroCop is a fucking lame, cowardly fucker that doesnt deserve to be in the UFC. I mean, I want to see him get fucking beat up by Dos Santos, but hes such a bitch I dont see how Dana out of everyone would let this punk back in. If CroCop doesn't pull some dirty eye poke on Junior then I think hes gonna get T/KO'd in the first round.

Oh and Harry Russo got fucking owned by ArmFarmer. Just thought I'd rub it in even though your most likely crying after his post.

the best proof is they made it nice enough for him to ditch DREAM after he publicly dissed Dana after dropping out of the first-ever no paperwork contract the UFC supposedly signed him under for Germany... so, unless money isnt involved here and they had actually had Cro Cop under a legitimate contract, they countered the DREAM offer nicely enough for Cro Cop to think it a good idea to screw over DREAM and join the organisation that has already shown that it will cut the Croatian Sensation after one fight(i.e Gonzaga)...

so yeah, you pretty much got it right.

Perfect. Bring back the Croatian Humiliation. I'd love to see Junior obliterate him. That is Zuffa's plan. Bring him back, give Cro Cop yet another loss, and then send him packing. Cro Cop simply doesn't have the stuff to compete with top HW's in the UFC. However, I will be filled with joy to see him get his ass handily kicked.

Wow, bridge-burning must be a Croatian art form. Regardless, I wonder why UFC would want him back. I don't think he really adds anything to the heavyweight division, and his fights (even when he wins) have been rather underwhelming. I don't see him eye-poking himself into title contention, so what's his role? I understood why Dana wanted him last time (because he could help draw in Germany), but elsewhere -- who cares? Don't get me wrong: I'd love to see him crack some craniums with his kicks, but after his last run (and his recent departure/return), does anyone seriously think that he's focused on winning the belt?

Cro Cop made Zuffa into his little beeotch... the only reason he would back out of the DREAM deal is that the Fertittas sweetened the pot.. cuz, why take a fight for less money in an organization that you just pissed off and will drop you in a heartbeat with no compunction... No, Cro Cop made Dana put on a purdy little dress

... oh and I also hear they plan on building a multi-million dollar sports complex in Zagreb called the Cro Dome as part of the contract agreements... how tatstes that pee pee, Fedor?

Did it ever occurr to you that some of us just plain don't like cro cop? I was one of those people that was pissed about his antics and I have never once been a fan of cro cop. I was waiting for him to fail sense the moment he stepped into the octagon to beat up Eddie Sanchez and then I had to listen to jackasses on the radio saying "yeah cro cop has walked through everyone he's faced in the ufc, he is from pride so he is a level above all of them" and garbage like that.

Instead of making assumptions about people you don't know you should spend some time working on your sentence structure so that you can form a coherent post that people can understand without having to read it 3 times.

LOL seriously? Why would you believe anything now? When i see cro cop in the octagon I will assume its going to happen but until them i'm not going to listen to him or anyone else talk about him. Next thing you know he's going say he has a big fight in Affliction for a rematch with Overeem.

It is not the hate...octagon is not the same as the ring. The dynamics change a bit and It is harder in my opinion to fight in a cage. Mirko has been very average to say the least since he came to UFC...not to mention as he is declining even in japan. He was a badass but don't think he is anymore. He looked very out of place fighting mustapha and even if he wins somehow against santos, people like carwin, lesnar, mir, nog, couture will destroy him. This will be a short lived career in UFC...mark my words.
