MMA Fighter Challenges People to Punch Him in the Face, Everyone Fails

MMA FightPicker Recap: Aaron Rampey Rules Leaderboard With Iron Fist

(Holy freakin’ crap.)

First off, our sincere apologies to anybody who tried to collect their chips or make pool selections in MMA FightPicker yesterday — we were having some technical difficulties, but everything’s back to normal. The winners’ chips have been added to their accounts, and you should now be able to make your picks for this week.

Second, we’d like to give an astounded round of applause for Aaron Rampey, last week’s point-leader, who ended up winning nine pools this weekend, increasing his PotatoChip total by nearly 1,000. That’s what we call aggressive play; you’ll have to take some serious risks yourself if you hope to catch him. Also on the FightPicker leaderboard, brade1584 crept back up to the #2 spot, while Milwaukee Made, Me, and Half Amazing now round out the top five. Congrats to all of y’all.

So how did they do it? Well, we already told you how Friday’s Strikeforce fights played out; the first question about Prangley vs. Amoussou wasn’t counted since the match ended in a technical draw. As for MFC 24, the Edmonton event sounded like a bangin’ time, with all four main card bouts ending in KO/TKO. In the main event, Yves Edwards closed out a tentative first round by knocking Derrick Noble down with a straight right then finishing him with strikes on the ground. Before that, Tom "Kong" Watson put out Travis Galbraith’s lights with a head kick in the first round, while Dwayne Lewis finished Ryan McClain with strikes from a crucifix position in round 2.

Here’s what’s cooking on FightPicker this week…

WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz pops off this Saturday at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The questions are…

Brian Bowles vs. Dominick Cruz: Who will win?
– Will Bowles vs. Cruz make it to round 3?
Miguel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez: Who will win?
– Will Torres vs. Benavidez end in a T/KO?
Jens Pulver vs. Javier Vasquez: Who will win?
– Will Pulver vs. Vazquez make it past round 1?
– Bart Palaszewski vs. Karen Darabedyan: Who will win?
Scott Jorgensen vs. Chad George: Who will win?
Danny Castillo vs. Anthony Pettis: Who will win?
Deividas Taurosevicius vs. LC Davis: Who will win?
Fredson Paixao vs. Courtney Buck: Who will win?
– WEC 47 entire card: More stoppages or decisions?

I just joined 10 active pools, and Aaron Rampey is literally in every one with me....
El Famous Burrito- March 1, 2010 at 9:54 am
I have reason to believe that Aaron Rampey is acutally Future Biff Tannen, complete with Grey's Sports Almanac and awesome gold fist cane.

I'm like you cecils, I'm not fillin out no survey just to get more chips. I take my 7 a day, and bet toward the end of the week. Not hatin on you though Aaron, congrats on kickin our asses. You apparently have been makin the picks to win. Bad luck this week bro!

Thanks, Mr. Rampey, for the tips on how you did it - now, I will consult my Magic 8-Ball for my WEC picks.

There are alot of gimmies this week, and its the WEC where crap always hits the fan.

I think I may bounce between the two options for Pulvers fight and between the round3/tko options for the main and co-main.

Good luck to you!

For the last one I had six that I felt good about and chose that one in all of the pools. I had three that I felt were close to toss ups, so I varied those up a bit. For the other two, I had a strong leaning and picked that way in most of them. I didn't want to pick the same thing in all of them and walk away with nothing.
Me- March 1, 2010 at 8:27 am
That's kinda how I feel about this week also Aaron. Something tells me I'm gonna get Chael'd this week. I have trouble "diversifying my portfolio" so although I plan on fisting these pools in an attempt to catch up, I may just end up with nothing.

No shenanigans going on here. I have only done enough surveys to get chips for the two ipod pools that I've entered. I finished second in the one last week and tied for first this week but lost the tiebreaker...freakin' sucks.

I had winnings of 700 potato chips coming into this week and entered 16 pools including the ipod one. I finished alone in 1st in 5, tied for 1st in 5, tied for 2nd in 4, and tied for 3rd and 5th in the other two. I have won the Heavy Hitter Pool twice, which is 300 in winnings each time. So no shenanigans...just fortunate picking. I expect it to come crashing down this week.
cecils_pupils- March 1, 2010 at 8:17 am
Okay - I take back the shenanigans. I just logged into Fightpicker to see that I now have 83 potato chips. Now I get it, you actually have to WIN some shit to collect more potato chips.

Mr. Rampey I will never doubt you again, congrats.
Half Amazing- March 1, 2010 at 8:16 am
Was there a change in scoring in regards to the Prangley fight or something? Because when I initially looked at my picks I had won all of my pools, and then today when I checked I finished in second in two of them...
cecils_pupils- March 1, 2010 at 8:11 am
How are these guys doin' it? Filing out a bunch of surveys? Sorry, I don't have time for that. The best I can do is collect my daily 7 potato chips and make my picks at the end of the week. How the hell does this Aaron Rampey guy have the chips to enter 9 (or more) pools? Even at palooka pool prices that's 90 potato chips. I declare SHENANIGANS!

Still, I was tied for 1st on one of my pools and tied for 2nd in the other.
ReX13- March 1, 2010 at 8:01 am
Damn dude, at this rate, Aaron Rampey is going to need to be included on CP's wiki page.
Me- March 1, 2010 at 7:56 am
Damn, I thought goin' 5 for 5 was gonna put me near. I see how this battle is to be fought now and it will be tough to catch you Aaron.
