MMA FightPicker Recap: Win an Apple iPad at UFC 111

The UFC’s first event on Versus was a good night for those of you MMA FightPickers who like to play it safe. Favorites ruled the day and underdogs went down hard, meaning that the crazy riverboat gamblers among you probably took a much-deserved beating. As for our own petty rivalry, it was my (BF) night from start to finish. While BG scored a respectable 250 points, he didn’t come close to my 12 for 12 Perfecta, which earned me 400 points and landed me tied for first in our pool, right alongside some joker named Felix Apslund. Better luck next time, Goldstein. I totally don’t mean that.

As for other big winners, Aaron Rampey maintains his overall lead with 1,969 Potato Chips and 26 pool victories, but Me is on his tail (kind of) with 1,370 Chips and 18 pools won. Rounding out the top five pool winners overall are Ryan Johnson in the third spot, surf_finland in fourth, and herbaliser in fifth.

Ricky Broomstick (God, I hope that’s his real name) and Stephen Waggoner (I don’t care whether that’s his real name) were our two big prize pool winners this weekend, which means they’ll both be getting that sweet $200 prize package from MMA Warehouse.

That’s cool and all, but let’s look toward the future. UFC 111 is this Saturday, and what with it being a big event and all we thought we’d match it with an appropriately big prize. So we went out and got a couple of Apple iPad’s for you chumps. Look at us all cutting edge over here. The question now is, who’s got the stones to come and claim these bad boys in one of our two prize pools?

Check this week’s questions after the jump.

Yeah.. Scott rules! Thanks for taking the time to email me. ;)
Durden- March 23, 2010 at 12:11 pm
Thanks for the mail Scott, I found it.
But I must say that finding the way to the history wasn't the most straightforward thing in the world :D
Didn't realize that you could press the headline "History" under My pools, looked more like just text rather than a link.

I'll paste the response you gave me here incase anyone else has problems finding it, "To find your pool history go into FightPicker. On the right hand side under the My Pools section click “history”. Or click “view my pools” then “history” to see the full list."

Thanks again :)

Yo Jonny, it's a troll eat troll world up in this bitch. You can BUY some chips (which I think is completely bogus) or, you can fill out some surveys and get enough junk e-mail to put the company SPAM out of business. Or you can play poor man style and click on the fightpicker link every day, get your 7 chips a day, and try to build on that with some kick ass (no pun intended) MMA knowledge.

Is there any way to catch up, if I'm just registering today? Or do I have to work my way up from the bottom like I do in real life?
ReX13- March 23, 2010 at 6:02 am
So i finally got a couple of perfecta bonuses, won a few pools, and broke into the top 10. I just won a comment of the week shirt, and i feel like king of the effin' internet. Still, no tag and no mention from BF. Oh well--i'll keep trying.

FTR, i think the option to not answer a question is valid. Perfectas are given based on how many questions are answered, so if someone answers six questions correctly, they'd only get a 60 point bonus...your score isn't bulletproof unless you answer them all.

Would have like to have seen some questions about Dream to help weed out the guessers and casual peeps, but i'm not complaining too much.

How do I check my old picks? I have no idea how it went for the UFC live on versus card, can't seem to find it and I don't remember what all of my picks were.. Is there no history?

Fuck you and your prize pool Bens. I'm just a 7 chip a day gettin mufucka. There should be a prize pool for us po folk too!
Me- March 22, 2010 at 7:22 pm
Me had no input on whether Aaron's chips were tabulated correctly and actually likes the current standings. Thank you.

In other news, this week really busted my chaps as there were multiple perfectas in every pool I saw. While I am proud that some of the vets were able to pull them off, some of them were random people who always pick with the majority.

Yes, I am bitter, becuase I sucked.
Viva Hate- March 22, 2010 at 6:41 pm
@ben,
I posted on an old thread, I filled out three surveys on 2/25/10, never received any chips, they were mysurveys.com, winningsurveys.com, and arcamax, anyway to get those chips?
ben- March 22, 2010 at 6:17 pm
@aarondramp, Ryan_Johnson: I'll find out what happened with the leaderboard.@everybody: If you're entering a prize pool, please make sure to answer the tie-breaker question!
Ryan_Johnson- March 22, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Agreed Aaron
aarondramp- March 22, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Me thinks the chips weren't tabulated correctly.

I had 1,969 before the picks this week and won a couple of pools but still have the same total. I had the chips added to my winnings, but the leaderboard didn't reflect that.

My guess is that was probably the case for other people as well.
Nut Puncher 9000- March 22, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Yeah, No pick to perfectas is not the way it should be.

The rules on this need to be clarified.
cecils_pupils- March 22, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Fightpicker Tweak Requests:

1) Please make it so that non-answers are minus 10 points. Non-answers should not be rewarded. Seems like those who don't wanna choose on a closer fight get rewarded for no choosing... doesn't seem fair.

2) Please allow us to change our picks the same day as the fight with a cut-off of several hours before fight time. The weigh-in photos and all that pre-fight hype can change a persons mind overnight (Irvin, case in point).

Thank you for your time, sir.
Ryan_Johnson- March 22, 2010 at 5:36 pm
I'm getting that Ipad

I think we could use some better questions for these things. For Sunday nights Versus UFC event, the way to get a perfect score was to take the answer that the majority of people selected every single time. Most weren't even close. They were almost all 70, 80, or 90% favorites.

Where are spreads when you need them??
