NYDailyNews.com breaks the unfortunate turn of events:
ALBANY – The push to legalize ultimate fighting in New York is on the ropes. Assembly Democrats stripped approval for the wildly popular violent sport from a budget bill that lawmakers will take up as soon as today.
Gov. Paterson sought to legalize mixed martial arts, saying fights could pull in more than $2 million in tax revenue for the cash-strapped state.
"The majority of voices who spoke about this issue in our conference were not supportive of approving it as part of the budget," said Assemblyman Steven Englebright (D-L.I.), a fight fan. Englebright said it’s a long shot the Assembly will revisit the issue. The state Senate has already approved the sport.
Though we were feeling optimistic after bill S 2165 passed the Senate, the lazy fucks in the Assembly let it stall out, which meant that Paterson’s crafty move of including MMA in his 2010 budget plan was the sport’s last real hope of getting legalized in New York this year. As a New Yorker, it sickens me that our representatives would jump over millions of dollars during a time of desperate financial crisis, in order to protect the delicate sensibilities of their misinformed constituents. These are the same politicians who have no problem stranding commuters with transit cuts — yet they’ll turn down the revenue from a sport that’s beloved and practiced by so many New Yorkers. Screw this, I’m moving to New Jersey.
[Ed. note: I would never actually move to New Jersey.]

Seoul Brother….Outstanding….well put.
