That headline is from an Associated Press story about a 25 year-old New Mexico man who died after being pushed through a third-story hotel window after he and someone else were, from the sound of it, drunkenly wrestling/screwing around in a hotel room. You’ve been to this party before. We all have. You and some friends get drunk, decide to grapple with one another and possibly throw in a few knee strikes from the clinch, and it’s all fun and games until someone gets mad or takes it too seriously, which happens every single time. Or maybe not. Maybe it ends before that because someone gets pushed into a window, which then breaks, and suddenly you have a tragedy on your hands.
That’s a terrible story, but isn’t it just a little too misleading, even for the AP, to chalk it up as an "ultimate fighting" related accident? Something tells me that MMA isn’t the culprit here so much as alcohol, cheap hotel glass, and bad luck. If a guy dies while drunkenly racing his friend in his ’72 Nova, we wouldn’t say he was attempting to "re-enact" a NASCAR move, would we?
