In his first match at last weekend’s World Jiu-Jitsu Championships, Andre Galvao was paired up against someone who clearly wasn’t in his league. What followed was an unforgettably ridiculous display of grappling domination, in which Galvao turned the Mundials into his own personal And 1 Mixtape of jiu-jitsu. At the 1:09-1:17 and 1:42-1:56 marks he’s basically breakdancing on his opponent’s back, and we’d like to see more MMA fighters do the somersault guard-pass that Galvao pulls off at 1:35. Props to StoryLords.tv.

commentsI just trained with Andre and I can say from first hand experience he's a real nice guy. Very skilled and good trainer to boot.
That other guy is the one who should be ashamed, not Galvao. That guy had no business being in the black belts at the Mundials. Where did he buy that belt anyway?
Also, laughing at anyone who thinks Joe Rogan or Eddie Bravo would beat Galvao.
Seriously, if someone tried to do an illegal heel hook me, I would have retaliated with illegal moves that are much worse. Heel hooks are for jerks, and there is a reason why they are illegal, and anyone who tries one on you at least deserves a swift kick in the rear no matter where you are.
with guys like leo vieira, robert drysdale, damian maia, pablo popavitch etc etc to train with and in his corner.
Galvao is as sharp as ever, the guy also beat Braulio Estima at the worlds...and i dont see anyone from 10th competing at the worlds or the mundials.
But in any event i would love to see eddie come out of retirement, and fight some of these guys or even Leozinho again!
i still want to see this new Galvao vs marcelo as well.
Gavao is a great competitors and he came out to the worlds to get some medals and here in first or second round some guy attempted to severely injure him and put him off the mats for several months! I thoughts for a bit that he will just break the guy's arm all the way or do something like that for this. What he did was pretty harmfully and more then appropriate.
