MRSA is a staph infection that is resistant to antibiotics, so it's a lot tougher to get rid of. MRSA stands for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. My wife got MRSA on her leg while we were on our honeymoon (no clue how). We thought it was a spider bite. It got nasty. Takes special drugs to get rid of it.

I had a rad staph infection on my knee that turned into weeping infatigo after a few days. It started like a small spot of poison oak and ended up about eight inches in diameter of melted pus leaking flesh. They said I was really lucky that it stayed in the skin because it could have chowed all of the tendons in my knee if it got inside. It was easily one of the grossest things I have ever seen, like a layer of pus filled boils on top of a layer of pus filled boils on top of a layer of pus filled boils that spontaneously leaked pus 24 hours a day. I had to get two injections of antibiotics a day for a week and go on heavy duty oral shit at the same time. I'd be scared as shit to get a Randleman armpit inside my armpit, the knee was bad enough. It only took three days for it to go from "funny spots" to "holy shit".

The scariest shit is necrotizing fasciitis, a bacterial infection/ condition that is related to MRSA. I remember reading a news report about a kid that fell out of a tree and cut himself in south-eastern Washington and ended up having to have his leg amputated below the knee that same day because the infection was spreading so fast. Look it up, it'll make you feel all warm and tingly inside.

The worst is MRSA. It starts as small bumps (like spider bites) and turns into pus-filled holes in a matter of days. It's a necrotizing infection which means that the staph kills the cells at the point of infection, creating the pus and discharge. If left untreated or if it develops in certain areas, it can cause death.

Staph is common among athletes, especially football players and wrestlers. That's why most wrestling/MMA gyms clean the mats every night. A friend of mine had a MRSA infection in his armpit and was in bad shape. At one point, the infection looked like a golf ball in his armpit and was extremely sensitive to the touch. He got it treated and eventually got it drained but the docs said that if he had waited too long, he could've lost his arm. He said they drained almost a half cup of fluid/pus from it and it was by far the most vile smelling and grotesque thing he's ever seen.

I demand a scientific explanation for Staph, how it infects, causes that wound, and what the treatment is. I'm tired of hearing about it and being completely ignorant of what it does, other than create a borehole through the skin and conjuring a tapeworm to live in it.

True about the gauze but still horrible. I've only had the little bumpy sores. Soaking it on hot salt water a couple times a day for a couple of days always got rid of it.
