Must-See: Insane Capoeira Knockout

Insane Capoeira Knockout – Watch more Funny Videos

Most evidence seems to suggest that Brazilian dance-fighting isn’t very effective in an actual MMA match. But the doubters were proved wrong on Saturday night, as a Capoeira practitioner named Marcus "Lelo" Aurelio (not to be confused with Maximus) scored one of the most epic knockout-kicks in history at a North American Challenge event in North Vancouver. Aurelio’s opponent Keegan Marshall was clearly unprepared for the whirling-dervish routine, and let his hands drop at juuuuuust the wrong moment; the devastation comes at the vid’s 0:31 mark. After checking to see if Marshall is still alive (he was), Aurelio commemorates the moment with a victory dance that lasts about as long as the fight itself. Enjoy it, buddy — these kinds of things don’t happen very often.

I saw this before at a different angle, but it was great each time. I wonder if someone will bring this style to the UFC.

appart from his double spin kick, his other moves looks weak. In addition to that, he didin't do the jinga, and i quote "jinga is the base of capoeira". To conclude, i am not convinced that capoeira is an effective fighting technique, as this was just a lucky shot.

It can work, but it is risky and potentially stupid. The kicks can land because they come in at odd angles. But you are also throwing yourself off balance and putting yourself in a really vulnerable position. Just because it can work, does not mean it will generally work or is a wise strategy.

I must say, I was one of those people that said that Capoeira was dancing not fighting. But you can't deny that was an awsome and extremely effective move. There is another video floating around that shows a Capoeira "Competition". But when a real fight breaks out, no one uses Capoeira, they start throwing punches and kicks like any bar room brawl.

it works well, but a well trained wrestler or any kind of submission fighter would deal well with that style , as long as they could score the takedown, an explosive fighter like kevin randleman would do well ,
