Say you lost a decision in a close fight that you feel you deserved to win.  You really have only two possible ways to respond: 1) Shrug, say you did your best, and remind everyone that this is why you don’t leave it in the hands of the judges, or 2) make a video of yourself in the parking lot of a 24-Hour Fitness showing off the remarkable lack of facial damage that you sustained in the fight, proving unequivocally that you got straight-up screwed, homey.

If you know anything at all about Nate Diaz, you know which option he decided to go with.  Nate posted this video to his Twitter today, following an earlier message stating that he’s watched the fight three times since Monday and has come to the conclusion that he won — get this — all three rounds.  Added Diaz: "fuck the haters…"

MMA fans are no strangers to the ‘I don’t have a scratch on me’ defense following a decision loss.  Diaz isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last guy to suggest that lack of bruising is the most accurate indicator of victory.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way, and for good reason.  Just look at Nate’s brother.  If facial wounds were a sure sign that you’d just lost a fight, he’d have one of the worst records in the sport.

Aside from that, it was a close fight and Nate appeared to do more overall damage to Gray Maynard, even though he threw mainly arm punches and jabs while Maynard threw hooks and uppercuts like he was trying to knock the lisp out of Diaz’s mouth.  But all three rounds, Nate?  Even the second, in which Gray put you on the floor?  You’re starting to make us worry about what the drug test results are going to look like. 

Like they say, marijuana is a gateway drug.  And once that gateway opens up peyote is sure to find its way in.
