("Blog about *this*, motherfucker." PicProps: Us?)
We’re already on record with our belief that Twitter is great for us media types and not so great for the MMA fighters who think they are using it to establish a personal “brand” but are really just broadcasting the worst parts of themselves to the public on a regular basis. We also already told you that Jon Jones is not only obsessively following upcoming opponent Ryan Bader on Twitter, but he’s also shadowing many of his friends, training partners and followers. You know what we love? We love when two seeminlgy unrelated stories from the past come together to make a new story in the present, like this …
UFC middleweight Aaron Simpson – who is currently training with Bader – sent a fairly innocuous tweet earlier this week essentially saying he thought Bader was ready to go against Jones at UFC 126. Naturally, Jones saw it and he did not appreciate it.
"I don’t think Jon Jones has any idea what he is getting into with Bader,” Simpson wrote. "I hope he is up for it."
Uh-oh. Now, if there’s one thing we know about Jonny Bones, it’s that he doesn’t like it when people write unflattering stuff about him on the internets. Dude has already proven he is not above a Twitter spat and on the rare occasion when someone in the media publishes something negative about him he’ll actually track them down for a face-to-face talk.
So, it was no surprise then that Jones fired back at Simpon post haste …
"Didn’t you lose your last 2 fights?” Jones responded. “Please don’t piss me off, I actually have respect for Ryan. Don’t you have a fight scheduled? Focus on yourself instead of weather (sic!) I’m ready or not? Are you familiar with the strike policy in baseball?"
Plus 1 to Jones for calling out Simpson for being on the chopping block when he fights Mario Miranda on March 26. Minus 20 to the UFC’s fastest rising light heavyweight star for getting baited into another idiotic Twitter war. Not for nothing, it might be time for Jones to get offline for good.

commentsJones also has a terrible gas tank (admittedly, Bader was on fumes in R3 with Nog but still pulled the round out IMO) and seems absolutely lost when he can't finish guys in the first. He is a flashy striker but 3/4 of the shit he throws, including his famous elbows don't land. Couple that with his growingly obvious arrogance and I kinda expect a stoppage win for Bader.
Also, kinda funny how Simpson was touted and undefeated before he fought top 15 guys (Leben and Munoz) and then became an undercard guy on the freebie shows. I could see the same fate befalling Jones. Remember the betting line on Leben/Simpson was like +250 Leben and -325 Simpson or something like that.
That said, I will watch his fights and might even cheer for him in some, I will never be a 'fan' nor go out of my way to pay attention to him. And that is the difference between being a belt holder and being a champ in my opinion. Belt holders get a strap, a champ gets adoration.
Anyone who's hatin on Jones doesn't know shit about MMA.
I'm talking about the man in the ring, not the high school girl on twitter.
@mrniceguy
that wasnt very nice.
well see here, i dont think bones will gt past bader, this may prove to be anther belfort vs couture 2. everyone and there motha though belfort was ginna maul this guy, cause of his stand up and ground game, he was ginna be mma's first
god-man, but as the sayin goes, hold your cock and hit a wall.
now i dont know what the fuck that means but belfort got wrecked, and i think jones will to
For being old school CP with the wit
Too much bad attitude around here lately
There might be years of entertainment from this nugget of gold!
C'mon Smitty...everyone knows Al Gore invented the interwebs. G-Dub just renamed them.
One spinning back fist and i'll forgot everything about the lead up to his fight though
I don't see whats so wrong about hoping he gets a bonus? perhaps he was being witty. I would bet dudes got more then enough in the bank to currently cover the purchase of a new car if the insurance company doesn't cover it.
Also to be honest I don't care about the other person in that car accident. I don't even care if Jones volunteer's at the local food shelter. Dude entertains me on the internet and in the cage that means I'll keep buying PPV Showings with him on it. Note that I am a heartless fuck so I could be a tad bit Bias here.
Im pretty sure Al Gore invented the interwebs.
I love Jon Jones as a fighter and expect him to beat (not destroy) Bader, but outside the octagon, the kid is clown shoes. He has a bible verse tattoo and portrays himself as a christian but after his car accident, he tweeted something along the lines of "I hope I get a win bonus to make up for the money I lost wrecking my car". It wasnt until a fan tweeted the question "Was the other person involved in the accident ok?" that Jones said something along the lines of "He was carried off on a stretcher, hope he is ok.". Now Im not at all religious but I think I understand the fundamentals of christianity and even just the basics of being a good person in general and showing more concern for the materialistic loss after a car wreck than the well being and health of all parties involved is a sure shot sign of a piece of shit.
"@Simpson - you ever hear of 'Three strikes, you're out'? Watch your mouth, son. "
We'd have all been like "Ooooh bones is such a bad ass" and talking about how great it is when fighters talk shit online. I guess what I'm saying is that he just needs to cop MORE of an attitude and we'll all love him again.
Not to say I've stopped loving him, that's impossible for me. Even if he is a narc and an online cry baby, he is the nastiest man at 205.
