Nick Diaz to Return to Action on May 12th for “BJJ Superfight”

(What do you *mean* you don’t have any Funyuns?)

It has been a pretty terrible week in the world, Potato Nation, and it’s only Tuesday. Seven people were recently murdered by some sick asshole with a grudge out in California. Tornadoes have threatened to literally remove Dallas from the planet, and flood waters nearly drowned the island nation of Fiji. All within a couple of days.

But not everything sucks; an eighty year old woman managed to land a plane in Wisconsin after her pilot husband collapsed, and it looks like we’ll be seeing Nick Diaz return to competition earlier than we could have predicted. HOORAY!

Sure, it’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, but beggars can’t be choosers. At least not until Obama is re-elected and gives the homeless the right to vote. Like they’re people.

Anyway, it seems Diaz will be participating in a so-called “superfight” against a yet to be named opponent at The World Jiu-Jitsu Expo in Long Beach, California on May 12th. According to Cesar Gracie, who also confirmed Diaz’s involvement, Nick originally wanted to compete in the tournament itself, but was denied the right to do so by Expo officials, who thought the super-fight idea would be better. We’re not sure what kind of pan-Pacific bullshit power play that is, but we imagine Diaz is undoubtedly upset that he will not be granted the chance to kick the ass of each and every participant competing in the tournament.

We haven’t heard much from Nick since he was tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his unanimous decision loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 143, mainly because his lawyer, Les Grossman Ross Goodman, has done most of the talking for him. And although no one’s exactly sure where his future in MMA lies, it’ll be nice to see the mean mugging, bird flipping sumbitch back in some kind of action this summer, because triathlons are a real bore to watch.

The first ever World Jiu-Jitsu Expo will be held in the Long Beach Convention center and will feature such BJJ legends as Renzo and Roger Gracie, Robert Drysdale, and Andre Galvao giving free seminars.

Find out all you need to know about the Expo and more at their official website.

@skeletor We know you're J.Jones the author of this blog. Stop trolling yourself

You guys are crazy. Diaz will not mean mug anyone. He only does that while fighting. during JJ and triathalon tournaments he brings the snacks and high fives all the participants. He hates fighting.

Some of you must be thinking the same thing I am. A match between Rory MacDonald and Nick Diaz. I'd love to see Rory throw Nick around like he did to Nick's little brother.

Joe Sila, are you hearing this?!
Punchthedonky- April 3, 2012 at 5:12 pm
Joe Silva...that is!

I wish you guys could just cover MMA and leave you dem/lib bullshit out of the articles!!!!! Anybody who doesn't support themselves should be exempt from a vote for conflict of interest!!!! Why do you libs think 10% of the country should work and split the wealth with all the lazy asses!!!! I love the site but I hate your ridiculous bullshit!!!!!
The_Dead_Cow- April 3, 2012 at 2:47 pm
@Karma, that would be awesome. Speaking of BJJ, what the hell happened to G-Sots? Haven't seen him since Dos Anjos lawnchaired his ass.
Fried Taco- April 3, 2012 at 2:17 pm
He couldn't compete in the tournament, because his metabolite level wasn't high enough.
KarmaAteMyCat- April 3, 2012 at 2:14 pm
This is very smart of Nick. I've talked ot a lot of people who would greatly enjoy the return of BJ Penn to BJJ
