Now that the Brock Lesnar-Shane Carwin UFC heavyweight championship match is officially happening at UFC 106, we thought we’d go ahead and compare some key stats. As you can see, they’re both around the same size (* denotes, well, that’s what he weighs in at, but probably not what he weighs on fight night), with about the same reach. Carwin has more total MMA experience, but has logged less actual Octagon time. They both have NCAA national wrestling titles, though at significantly different levels.
The big difference? Number of successfully resolved feuds with Cage Potato. The mental toughness and fortitude that a fighter gains from that baptism by fire is not to be discounted.

I've seen the guys fights. You say he can ward off Brocks takedowns? You're crazy. Brock will take him down whenever he wants, and keep him there. Thats if he doesn't knock Carwin out first.
Seriously, Carwin COULD pull this out...but he's not going to.
Brock is here for a while, even though you don't like him, just admit it.
I think Lesnar still has a size advantage, be it slight. I think if he can get it to the ground and keep it there, he will win.

One more example. USMMA's 165lber this past year won the Academy games. The academy games includes all military academies regardless of division. he pinned his way to the finals i believe. so, i wouldn't count too heavily against carwin's wrestling ability.
Carwin does not have double the fights Brock has inside the Octagon. He has one less. Career fights don't equal Octagon fights.

I want Carwin to win badly but don't be surprised if he gets knocked the fuck out, it is very possible.
I'm really curious to see how two well-versed wrestlers go at it. If Carwin uses Randy Coutures and keeps his chin out of reach of the canned hams, he'll win.
Does anyone here think that Carwin might be a victim of his own success, in that all of his UFC wins leave with very little experience in the octagon?
What is scary is how when big guys fight each other, they are worn out in the first 60 secs just from tossing around someone who ways as much as them.
Both guys are giant monsters with heavy hands. Takedowns could very well be nullified with 2 solid wrestlers (otherwise I probably have to give the nod to Lesnar...) with decent boxing (but with plenty of openings).
Carwin is very dangerous... I'm surprised that the UFC is not making him fight Cain first (who, if Cain won, I think is a safer match up for their HW star, Lesnar).
This is an awesome fight and both guys do not want to end up on their back so it will be stand-up mostly. I say one of the 5xl's of Carwin sneak right in between the 4xl's of Lesnar and Bud Light will have the greatest commercial of Lesnar sleeping on their logo.
@Tai-pan, yer right Carwin is the only one with a shot at taking that belt from LesnarI mean shit, this season of ultimate fighter should be known as "People who won't beat Brock Lesnar" so I guess for the sake of all YOU HATERS, if Brock wins this one you all get to bite the bullet right? You get to finally stfu and realize that shit isn't a hype so yes, I hope you get yer dream knock out but I don't see it happening. Brock is a different kind of fighter, he learns quickly the guy really is an animal but whatever right we'll just have to wait and find out.
@ Ben & Ben , I would like to see you guys ride an unbias train on this fight it'd be a nice change of pace. We all know that entire arena of people had it coming, booing an entire match? Seriously Fuck Philly. So lets have some good Unbias articles cause this fight is gonna be about as intense as it gets.
