But yeah, if Boxing is legal, wrestling is leagal, and kids can checc each other on the ice playing hockey, why not MMA? Its damn near a culmination of all these sports. Whoever called this poor journalism is wrong. This is great they accomplished their goal. Which was to get people’s attention by showing how brutal things get. No it’s not good for the sport, but really I know a lot of people who would love that video and completely agree with it.

And yea of course the underground fight clubs feel scummy. Especially when this underground league has very few rules. This is where I agree with Narcisist, because I thought it was horrible when they started to tell the reporter how few regulations they put in their league. These seem like the guys that are decked out in Affliction, getting too drunk, and trying to fight everyone at the bar so they can be just like their favorite fighters. Instead they found someone with a ring and a basement they could use.

I think it’s better that these things go on as they are until there is proper regulation.

For one, it is a strong incentive to regulate it – as long as you can get that idea at the table that is.
Furthermore, from an economic point of view, creating demand creates more demand. If these fight weren’t going on, the sport would not be growing the same way in NY, and with growth comes opportunities. If a legitimate boxing promoter, for instance, sees money in an MMA event, pressure for regulation could start coming from different directions.

That being said, there’s always a dirty feel to unregulated MMA. Yeah, it really is dangerous, and the cost of a serious accident could be enormous, from a PR point of view.

Gotta love the sound effects they throw in. Remnds me of a 60′s Batman episode. KAPOW! BLAM! BOOM!

Let Me Guess! My Fox New York is having a slow news day, and they need some to spike up ratings. What we have here is another example of how today’s media is blurring the line between news and entertainment. In their quest to give us infotainment, the quality of journalism is going down. It’s all about the money, and there’s plenty of flip-flopping in the mainstream press that needs to called out of the carpet.

Yeah, that’s pretty bad. I can’t imagine that’s the first time that chick saw MMA.
