Steroids in MMA
Which MMA Fighter Will Test Positive For Steroids Next?

Old Dog, Same Tricks

(Chuck picks the exact wrong time to go to his happy place.)

I know, I know — more Chuck Liddell stuff.  But remember Howard Davis Jr. saying that Liddell needed to work on avoiding right hands and keeping his eyes open when the punches are coming at him?  Well, Zak over at Watch Kalib Run found this picture of him doing neither, and it really drives Davis Jr.’s point home.  Turns out keeping your eyes open is pretty crucial to avoiding punches, and avoiding punches is pretty crucial to winning fights.

If you want to feel even worse for Liddell, TMZ has a somewhat strange video of his pre-fight warm-up (thanks to OB&I for the tip) and Fightlinker has a gif of Dana White nearly knocking Chuck down with a friendly slap on the back in the Octagon.

If you want to be reminded that it wasn’t always depressing losses and the inevitable ravages of age for "The Iceman," we got you covered after the jump.

Still feel bad for the guy?  Because he probably feels bad for you.  Unless you’re "Shogun" Rua, and you aren’t…are you?

Chuck Lidell is the reason the UFC is so damn big today. So you Mofo's better respect!! In the last 5 fights chuck has lost 4 of them we all know that!! Ok he lost a close fight to Jardine that could have went either way if you ask me! The fight he lost to Rashad Evans any man on this freaken planet would would have been knocked out by that punch!! And he was winning that fight up to that one point! He simply got caught by rampage and rashad! Anyman hit right can get knocked out is my point. Chuck Has to get better defense. Defense is the best offense. He is still very dangerous and has to learn some good blocks and keep your eyes open chuck!! It should be Chucks decision whether he should retire though! Only chuck knows the answer!! Hey 40 is the new 30 chuck and If Coleman, Cotoure, And Shamrock can do it why not the greatest Lightheavy weight the UFC may ever see! His Reign was outstanding and most of his fight by knockout! All you Haters out there you better ask somebody!! Take some time Chuck, take all the time you need!! Whatever decision you make I respect you and If it is in fact the last, Thank you for all the Battles.

The reason Coleman keeps getting fights is because when the UFC and Pride made the merge, Coleman still had 2 fights left on his contract. Dana White said he would honor the contract. I don't see Mark fighting after UFC 100 unless he wins. He needs to hang em up and focus on "Hammer House" and/or coaching wrestling

True there both 205ers but they walk around at 220 to 230 right. Age and weight cutting is only part of the fraction is what is hurting Chuck. It would be interesting to see if it helped any or none. Plus Forrest and Chuck could be a entertaining fight unlike a A. Silva of late.

Dana White said he wont fight he won't fight again.
Unlike Randy CUNToure, Chuck isn't going to run away from the UFC and act like a bitch and demand more money or demand a fight.
Hes done.
Dana White will give him a job making as much or more money to NEVER fight again.
WE will see Chuck behind the scenes doing whatever, but never in a fight again. It is a sad day, and a shitty way to go out, beaten by a piece of garbage like shogun, fucking sucks.
agentsmith- April 21, 2009 at 8:03 am
Why a catch-weight? They're both 205-ers.
Anonymous- April 20, 2009 at 10:12 pm
If Chuck wants one more fight why not Forrest Griffin VS. Chuck Liddell at a catch weight?
agentsmith- April 20, 2009 at 9:33 pm
To "Good Ol Fashion Blunt Force Trauma"... I had a much longer post typed out, then I realized I could sum it up very quickly:

Take a good, long look at Ken Shamrock and ask yourself if you want to see Chuck Liddell end up like that. Especially since Chuck has like 10 times the legacy that Shamrock ever did.

Nobody sees the up side of this chuck is gonna bring a much needed breath of life to the Yamma superfight series just imagine the match ups butterbean, Oleg, FRYE now thats some stache on stache violence. Not to mention the draw he could bring to fledgling organizations like XARM i mean explain me this mister doctor how you gonna block the looping over hand WHEN YOURE STRAPPED UP, HUH? I mean i can see him going on a tear in those leagues and maybe finding his way back in the UFC and by that time their new russian stadium should be finished and ready for Fedor/Chuck suiting Dana's taste for super fights well after they're relevant. They'll just have to outfit his fat head figurine with bobble hands to match his parkinsons tic.

I would also like to take this moment to apologize for my remarks about Mr. Liddell and express my complete and total lack of desire for one of said looping over hands.

Ty Deuce I just read that post and was gonna mention something along the samelines

@ G-Swizz, The heavyweights belong to the 'brotha man'... really?, i certainly didnt know that Brock lesner was black, or Shane Carwin, or Gabriel Gonzaga for that matter. Or Frank Mir... or Nogeuira.. or Couture. Wait holy shit, the only black heavyweight who is decent is Kongo and we all know Carwin would fuck his day up. Kongo isnt exactly well prepared vs. wrestlers. Sounds like you win... most fuckin retarded comment of the week!, send me your address, name and phone number, and ill send you a t-shirt of a kid w/ down syndrome riding around in his favorite wheelchair which he calls jimmythemovingchair. Dont try to contact Cagepotato though, this promotion runs strictly through me.

@Good Ol Fashion Blunt Force Trauma

Tell us who would you pay to see Chuck fight? Certainly not anybody in the top 10, not even top 10 in the UFC. You know they would put it as a top of the card fight and probably just stack the rest of the main card with shit matchups just because they know people would buy the PPV to see Chuck. I think it's a good move to retire
still an iceman fan- April 20, 2009 at 6:12 pm
I admit like dana its painful to watch chuck get ko'd in recent fights, but if the man still wants to fight let's see what he's got at HW I mean maybe the wieght cutting is too much at his age, I know Chuck is not in the same shape as Randy but it worked for him for a few fights atleast
Good Ol Fashion Blunt Force Trauma- April 20, 2009 at 6:03 pm
That bitch Dana White is forcing Chuck to retire. I think Chuck has couple fights left & that fucking snake Dana White is just trying to get him to go away so we fans can't see him vulnerable. Why the fuck is Dana White allowing Mark Coleman's ass to keep fighting when its clearly obvious that he has NOTHING left in the tank. Its obvious Chuck can still fight so why the fuck is Dana pushing so hard for him to retire, but not Coleman? Dana needs to get drop kicked right in the fucking throat.

Chuck Liddell got what he deserved. Arrogant fuck.
I'll never get tired of seeing Chuck down on the canvas.
BackbaconBilly- April 20, 2009 at 5:36 pm
perhaps " still an iceman fan" has a decent idea, why not use the 100 UFC as a hall of fame induction event, people would be stoked to see guys like Chuck/coleman/... inducted into a hall of fame type of deal. Would help to make the event even better without the need for any better fights being signed up.
BackbaconBilly- April 20, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Worst fight Chuck ever fought, looked like a pot bellied pig trying a couple retard slaps, truly sad. As for Rua looking great....please, get a life. Granted he looked better than he did against Coleman BUTTTTT whats that saying? dick-all. He's maybe top 15 on a good day.
still an iceman fan- April 20, 2009 at 5:25 pm
Just feed chuck mark coleman then let him go out on a high note, its just a shame he won't be on the ufc 100 card, unless its his induction into the hall of fame

The best thing about a Chuck highlights reel is all those punches to Tito's massive head. Man I love it!
K.E.G.- April 20, 2009 at 4:28 pm
He had a good career, shit happens. Still sad to see him go. It's hard to replace your old favorites (Chuck, Randy, Nog) with the likes of people like Rashad, and Machida. One has no personality the other ones just sucks.
Anonymous- April 20, 2009 at 4:27 pm
poor chuck - the only way he would win, is if he input his pic into that video- - so he could win the virtual
agentsmith- April 20, 2009 at 4:03 pm
I hereby predict that that Wanderlei will join Chuck on the retirement list most likely by the end of this year, and almost certainly by the end of 2010. Shame to see guys like that go out on a string of losses.
agentsmith- April 20, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Poor Chuck, almost right away you could tell Shogun was going to put him down. Shogun only connected with that overhand right what, six times or so? You could tell it was just a matter of time before he got dropped.
boreeed- April 20, 2009 at 3:57 pm
wow, haha pat on the back by Dana must've been after chuck woke up from his little nap or Houston Alexander is rubbing off on chuck haha
