Personally Im pretty pissed it ran so late. I set my DVR to record 30 minutes past the end just to make sure I got it all and I missed the Kimbo fight entirely! Thank goodness for youtube but watching grainy low res videos isn’t nearly as good. How do you get away with running almost an hour past your scheduled end time on a major network? I wont even get started on the announcers!
The stoppage on the Lawler fight and the Kimbo fight were both crap. As for Kimbo’s supposed tapping out Im not sure if Im missing it or what. I saw two times during the match Kimbo waved his hand and told the ref he was fine but no actual tapping. If Thompson could actaully GnP effectively it would of been called but those elbows he was throwing at the end of round two were some of the weakest I have ever seen. Any decent fighter would of had Kimbo bleeding or knocked out quickly in that situation. The fight definitely wreaked of a predetermined outcome.
That Kimbo fight was crappy on so many levels:
1. Why in the heck didn’t Thompson’s trainers have his cauliflower drained? It sill would be a target but it wouldnt look like freaking golf ball.
2. Kimbo’s conditioning is ABYSMAL, halfway through the 2nd round he looked like he was ready to fall over. Granted Thompson isnt the greatest MMA fighter by a long shot but he grounded Kimbo and trapped his arm on several occasions.
3. Kimbo weakness has been exposed(as if anyone didnt know), he cant grapple. And he may even have some serious issues with someone with good kicking skills.
4. The Ref blew it in the last round by calling the match before the doctor could even look at the ruptured cauliflower ear. Even when someone has massive cut to the eye and is bleeding profusely Ref’s generally still defer to the ring doctor FIRST then call the match. Im not saying that it shouldn’t have been called, but when someone fights for a living you don’t want them walking away thinking they were robbed of their “big chance” especially when it looks like they are ahead on points
I totally agree with MMA fan. The Kimbo fight was stopped prematurely, by the way. Thompson had recovered once before from a near knockout and almost beat Kimbo. If he had somehow managed to get Kimbo down again, it would have been over. They were looking for a chance to give it to Kimbo.
speaking of the ufc, Lesnar is fighting Heath Herring on the 9th of august. Shit, you think the ufc would learn something from elite and have him fight a few cans first. I’m actually pretty excited for this match up because neither of these guys are Kimbo Slice.
Yeh Iole does pander to the UFC alitte, but regardless he is correct about EliteXC. There were MANY inexcusable mistakes on Saturday night and things that reeked of unprofessionalism. EliteXC really dropped the ball imo.
Did any body read yahoo sports coluninsts kevin lole comments about elite xc fights, just one proof that he is a brown nose for the UFC

Most ‘great’ fighters, fight for a living, and James Thomson is by NO means a ‘great’ fighter’.
The hype is dead, the entire presentation was a con, and the match was fixed.
Nice almost crotch shots on Gina there when shes sitting next to kimbo.
And if you look at the line below the shaving rule it looks like theres a few people *cough*clayguida*cough* that ought to get a haircut or tie their hair back once kimbo actually shaves his beard.
Kimbo could really teach Gina a few things when it comes to making yourself look pretty.
