Aside from bringing Tyron Woodley’s championship aspirations (not to mention his mother’s dramatic retelling of Big Momma’s House 4: The Skriekening) to a crashing halt, it turns out that Nate Marquardt’s brilliant standing elbow also did a fair share of damage to Woodley’s upper lip. To put it simply, the wound most closely resembles what would happen if you were to mix Ambien with PCP and attempt to dry shave in a Southwest airplane bathroom. During takeoff. With a flensing knife. Also, you’re blind. OK, so maybe that wasn’t as simple a description as it could have been, but you get the point.

It’s a good thing Woodley is into facial hair, because he is going to have a terrible case of the hair lip from this day forward.

Actually SOnofSrbia, the no 10 count rule is much safer. When an mma fighter is out, that is that. When a boxer is out, he gets the chance to beat a ten count and take more punishment. The stoppage was fine, and aside from a nasty scar Woodley will be fine.

How in the blue hell do you expect to institute a standing 10-count (but the way, it's standing 8-count), in a sport that allows strikes on the ground, and jiu-jitsu ... A knockdown just leads to a different aspect of the sport, not a chance to let the fighter recover for 10 seconds. Do you even watch MMA? That might have been the dumbest suggestion ever, and we're all dumber for having read it.

Absolutely brutal. That ref called it just fine and Nate stopped where as most fighters would have gotten extra bomb or two in. Helluva gif

dude that was a borderline hate crime...mma should institute the standing ten count..that guy got k.o.'d on his feet then got those follow up punches for good measure. The ref was like 5 feet away the whole time..if mma had the ten count they would pass it in N.Y. These fighters are tough as fuck and dont want to give up so they get battered until k.o. Injuries are for life. But damn props to Nate the Great..

I was there and couldn't hear T-woods mom screaming, only some chick doing her impression of xena Warrior princess that was annoying!!! No way this was a late stoppage. It happened way to quick for the ref to step in time.

I second amsterdamheavy's comment. Munoz, that was a late stoppage, but this one.. you can't blame him. It was all one combo on an opponent that's still on his feet. Yes he was out for the last shot.. but it's a ref not anderson silva.. how fast do you expect him to be?

His momma is one annoying bitch - I figured the only way her kid would win is a wrestlefuck and well, that didnt happen. Good to see Marquardt in form and supposedly not using TRT.
