21 Humans Who Make Being Human Look Really, Really Hard

Prepare to Have Your Mind Blown: It’s Not Just Sengoku and Dream For NYE, It’s Sengoku vs. Dream

(Aoki has been on the internet all day trying to figure out who these Sengoku jokers are. It would probably help if he didn’t keep pausing every five minutes to shop for new tights on Amazon.)

Instead of splitting the Japanese MMA vote with two separate New Year’s Eve events, Sengoku and Dream have decided to not only combine their efforts, but to pit several of their fighters against one another in a Sengoku vs. Dream battle royal.  Of course, because they’re still a little over a month away from the event, the organizers haven’t seen fit to nail down the complete fight card yet.  That’s just not how they do, but chances are that the final lineup will be co-headlined by the K-1 bout between Masato Kobayashi and Andy Souwer, along with Hidehiko Yoshida taking on MMA newcomer Satoshi Ishii in the battle of the gold medalist judokas.

Aside from that, it’s a toss up.  Several cross-promotional fights are expected, but far from finalized.  If you were hoping to see Dream lightweight champ Shinya Aoki take on Sengoku lightweight champ Mizuto Hirota, well, first you’ll need to explain to Aoki exactly who Hirota is:

"Who’s the champion now? Because I don’t know,” [Aoki] said. “Right now, I’m number one. I feel that I’m [at the] top now, and if I fight him, I fight him. I didn’t say I wanted to fight him, and no one knows who he is, so if we fight … well, I’ll have to think about it.”

Oh, Shinya.  You crazy guy.  Allow us to provide a little primer for you after the jump.

(Hirota vs. Ryan Schultz, 8/24/08.)

If only Genki Sudo would come out of retirement and land some more Tekken moves on people. Aoki's good, but not a very entertaining fighter, I say Hirota takes it if they fight.

Masato Kobayashi is not the "hot dog eating" guy. He's one of the top K-1 MAX (under 156 lb) kickboxers in the world and is retiring this year. His last fight is New Year's Eve. Look him up on YouTube if you want to see what actual striking looks like. If you aren't familiar with K-1 and all you watch is MMA, please look up Ernesto Hoost and Buakaw while you're at it. You won't be disappointed.

Wow, it's refreshing to see an MMA fighter with Aoki's confidence. Most fighters are so humble, very few are willing to step up and proclaim they are #1.

His striking must be first rate, I can't imagine him getting hit in the face and collapsing on the mat like a dead fish.

@KidDinomite-->
Lenne Hardt is the single BEST Ring Announcer by far. Was so stoked when Dream decided to keep using her and was really hoping Strikeforce might have picked her up. She adds a whole nother Element to the show for sure, Hell Pride wouldnt have been the same without her imo.

PS Why the Fack doesnt the Reply feature actually work and reply to the message you quote BenNBen???? Fix please....

Haha @ Shinya trying his best to do some shittalking :P Hope they do match em up as Cheeto mentioned, Hirota is a Badass for sure, and Aoki is well, Aoki, He's other on top of the game an almost unstoppable, or he gets KTFO'd. All in All, be a good scrap that I'd love to see. The NYE shows are Always some of the best. Guess no word on if Fedor will actually compete on this years??? Guess that tradition has/is dying out :( And then theres always the FOTY candidate of Hong man Choi vs Timmeh "ShitsMySelf' Silvia too look forward too Hahaahaaaa. Ahhh Japan..As the Great Kimbo Slice put it, "I love the CITY of Japan" Muahhahaaa.

I wonder if the Crazy Screaming Lady will do ring announcement? This could be a great card!!! They need to get Fedor vs. Overeem too.... Or would that be saved for Strikeforce?
