The WEC’s next title bout will go down August 9th in Las Vegas, with undisputed bantamweight ruler Miguel Torres (37-1 confirmed record, 5-0 WEC) making his fourth belt defense against exciting contender Brian Bowles (7-0, 4-0 WEC). Despite the large difference in experience, the above promo video does its best to convince you that Bowles is a serious threat. "If I have to pick anybody out there, if I was Miguel Torres’s manager, who I would want to avoid, it would have been Brian Bowles," says WEC analyst Frank Mir, proving why he’s paid to fight and do color commentary, not manage careers. "To beat me you have to kill me," Torres says. "To beat me, you gotta take my heart out of my chest, and stab me with a knife." Luckily, Bowles has been training with MMA legend Mola Ram.
WEC 42 will also feature a possible #1 bantamweight contender match between Joseph Benavidez and Dominick Cruz, and the return of Leonard Garcia against Jameel Massouh.

I agree this is just hype for the fight. Torres will be going home with the belt around his waist. On another note, Frank's sporting a nice black eye! Gee I wonder how he got that?? lol

After Torres runs through Bowles he should move up to fight Garcia, Uriah Faber, or Mike Brown. No one is close to him in the Bantamweights.

I give Bowels 2 rounds, tops. Torres is my hero, NO ONE beats Torres, NO ONE. He is as good as GSP, as good as Fedor, and even has a better record! Torres FTMFW He is pure, humble, a warrior. There is nothing on this earth that will ever stop Torres.

Nothing tells me that Brian Bowles is going to be the guy to dethrone Torres. He is a good fighter though, and it should be quite the entertaining fight.

@Diggler: As mentioned by past winners, it might take 6-8 weeks for the shirt to reach Ben (Assuming the shirt is in an adjacent room). However, the most probable scenario is the shirt never arriving.

So when they introduce frank this time around, do you think they'll still refer to him as "the champ" or do you think the wounds are still a bit fresh? And I wouldn't bet against Torres at 135. Maybe if he moves up, but not at bantamweight. Dude is sick.
