(When he told her it was time to retire and give up the game for good, a tearful Paris Hilton told Dana: "But I am the game!" Only then did he fully understand the devils of fame and the ransom they demand. True story.)
- UFC president Dana White talked with Inside Fighting about the disappointing main event at UFC 97, and he also reiterated his commitment to keeping Chuck Liddell firmly in retirement, saying, “Believe me, it will be a fucking war if he tries not to retire, believe me.” When pressed on other rapidly aging fighters who might need to be nudged into retirement, White admitted that Wanderlei Silva and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira “are right there too and yes, I will pull the trigger on them too.” Dear God, he’s not going to kill them, is he?!
- A crazy rumor on the information superhighway says that Fedor Emelianenko and Shinya Aoki will square off against each other in a special grappling match at the “Deep M-1 Challenge 3rd Edition” in Japan on April 29th. I’ll pause a moment and let that one sink in. If true this would be completely insane, but to deny that we would totally want to see it would be to deny the very curiosity of the spirit that makes us human, and we aren’t about to do that.
- After submitting David Bielkheden with a rear naked choke on the undercard of UFC 97, Canadian fighter Mark Bocek is going to be out six weeks with a torn ligament. He says he won’t need surgery, just some rehab time, but he tore it a week before the fight and still went out there and achieved anyway. That’s a man for you, right there.
- The UFC heated up the nascent rivalry between Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson by scheduling the two of them for a photo shoot on the same day. Once they were in the same room tensions flared, according to Evans’ retelling of the event:
"I looked at him and I was like, what, man? He was like, ‘Rashad don’t talk to me, man! Don’t talk to me! Don’t say nothin’ to me! You don’t know me! You don’t know me!’ The (expletive) I need to know you for?"
Presumably that’s when the bell rang and they both had to get to class, but you best believe this is going to get settled at the park across the street after school. Do not say anything to your homeroom teacher and blow this thing.

You can't compare chuck to randy, both different styles of fighting, even though chuck prevailed over randy before. Chuck was too sluggish in the shogun fight, timing seemed off. He definitely looked better against Tito and Silva, but for shogun he seemed to have slower movement. The whole time I watched the fight, Rogan was saying how it looked like shogun was trying to set up a punch with the left hand, which ended up happening. Just because nog, randy, or coleman can still fight, chuck also has gotten beaten pretty badly in his last few fights, much worse than those other guys i mentioend...when your too sluggish, not keeping your hands up to guard your face, then its easy to hit that sweet spot to TKO/KO your opponent. Had chuck fought like the way he did with say Tito then maybe his shogun fight would've ended differently.
Dana can force chuck to retire from the UFC but not MMA. If chuck wants to still fight, Dana will probably not make any exceptions of him fighting again in the UFC. If chuck decides to leave the UFC just so he can fight, he takes the chance of making less $$$ from those other organizations, and getting fucked up again by someone else....plus those other MMA organizations aren't as poplular as the UFC, so chuck won't be the golden boy like he is now in the UFC.
Chucks made tons of $$$ in the UFC, probably more than anyone...so $$$ will never be a problem for him, plus dana already intends to keep chuck involved in the ufc doing other stuff while retired.
As for rashad and rampage, it should be a good fight. Rashad has speed, and power, and who's to say Rampage can hit harder than rashad, they may very well be equal. Can rashad beat ramapge, I believe he can, especially if he has a strategy like Keith did, since rampage doesn't like leg kicks, i could see rashad using leg kicks and taking him down to the mat. I also think if Rampage connects really good that rashad will be KO'd, or possibly stunned with rampage going for some GnP to finish him off. Rashad has speed, but rampage has good timing and moves around as well, I think it'll be a great fight but I hope rampage does win. The bottom line is your only as good as your last match, so we'll have to wait and see IF rashad/rampage end up fighting eachother, it could very well be machida/rampage, who knows until the event happens and the bell rings.
