“Rampage” Jackson Is Getting Sued

Though former UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was never charged with causing a pregnant woman to lose her unborn child after he struck her car in his harrowing run from the law last summer, he’ll now have to face a civil suit on the matter, according to TMZ.com.  Holli Griggs claims that Jackson is responsible for “the stillbirth of her baby” after hitting her car while he attempted to evade police during his much-publicized hit-and-run episode.

An investigation by the Orange County District Attorney’s office concluded that the woman’s miscarriage was unrelated to the incident, and Jackson later plead guilty to evading the police and reckless driving in exchange for avoiding jail time.  Does this mean Jackson is going to continue to be distracted by his past exploits while also taking a hit to the pocketbook?  Hard to say, but it might be difficult to find a jury that’s sympathetic to pro athletes driving under the influence of "delirium."  Dana White might have been convinced that Jackson wasn’t to blame, but other people might feel differently after seeing the photos.

Old_Bald_and_Irish: aside from the fact that in each instance the civil trial was proceeded by the criminal one, the cases aren't even remotely similar.

@everydayenemy, No I don't watch sports in general. Then again, I'm not usually a sucker for the Jedi Mind Tricks thrust at us in waves. Oh yeah, Kobe Bryant is a great basketball player, John Daly may still be able to come in under bar, and maybe - just maybe Michael Vick can still play football, but all of them are flawed just as you and I are. The difference is that when I fuck up, I don't make excuses , and I don't get preferential treatment because of what I do. I would rather that everyone who fucks up cops to their faults, accepts and pays for their crimes, and is allowed to move on.

For that matter, what about elected officials, everydayenemy? Should I be jealous of a douchebag like the South Carolina Governor who fucked over his wife, the GOP, and his kids by banging an Argentinian woman?
everydayenemy- June 25, 2009 at 7:46 pm
@ Seoul Brother

Apparently you don't watch sports in general? Every week of the year you sit your ass down and watch men and women get overpaid to break the law and entertain you. Look at the NFL, NBA, MLB, and the goddamn PGA. Even John Daly gets drunk and beats his wife. Damn, they are only human. Get over your jealousy of Rampage being privileged because he is a pro athelete and get off the fucking computer!

@ Kadumel

You don't know me, and we've never really conversed even though I've been on CP a long time now.

You clearly have no idea what a troll is. Coming on CP and telling the majority of the posters here that they are retarded for not sharing your views on an issue is what a troll would do.

It is truly a miracle that someone with your level of intelligence has learned how to work a computer, you fucking troglodyte.

Seoul Brother- June 25, 2009 at 7:31 pm
Several things about this are insulting as Hell.

1) His reckless driving was chalked up to exhaustion and consumption of energy drinks.
2) Evading law enforcement officials.
3) Hitting another vehicle.
4) Leaving the scene of a crime.
5) Even though he has been convicted of crimes clearly showing that he has endangered the general public, he was allowed to enter Canada and the United Kingdom to fight...even though they generally don't like having visitors in their countries who are dangerous criminals.

I agree that this woman seems like an opportunistic 'ho, but he struck her car, and he fled most ricky tick fast. Should he be allowed to fight? So far Dana White has seen fit to allow utter fucking scumbags like Jesse Taylor to fight in the UFC, so I doubt that he would care about a poster boy money maker like Quinton Jackson and his utter lack of penitence. Seriously - he was exhausted and he had too many energy drinks? Are you friggin' serious? I admit that I was a fan of Quinton Jackson's from his fights with Pride F/C, and he was an utter goofball clown who took very little seriously in interviews. How could you not like that? But I draw the line when a fighter can't act like a regular law-abiding individual. I hope he gets teabagged by a loser like Gabe Ruediger.

Nate,

I am far from emotional but Kimbo's bread is a troll and I am not a fan. I also dont like how we shouldnt jump to assumptions about Rampages guilt in the miscarriage of her baby but we have already convicted her of being a gold diggin lawsuit happy white trash whore. Bottom line is Rampage should not have caused any accidents and no one would be discussing this. If you or I went on a rampage and ran from the police we would still be in jail.
everydayenemy- June 25, 2009 at 6:06 pm
@ I KNOW NOTHING

" A true follower of Jesus Christ "

Really? Did you just post that? Come on man, Rampage over Jesus in the first round! Jesus taps from strikes!

"Yeah white trash driving a Cadillac. I swear the guy above me is a complete fucking moron. Im not saying this chick is right in what she is doing but Rampage should have not have driven his truck into her SUV. Lets not forget he did run some people off the road, and where would your head be at if you just lost your child that was almost full term? One that you felt move for months? I swear some of you guys are retarded."

Dude... you're getting emotional over here based on your assumptions that this lady really did lose her baby as a result of the accident. Right now there is only a correlation that this lady's attorney is playing off of to pursue what is most likely an unrelated incident wherein Rampage was driving like a complete moron.

Kadumel- June 25, 2009 at 3:32 pm
@Kimbo's bread

I take it you are someone who believes in abortion. Its a pity your mother didnt believe as well.
Kimbos Bread- June 25, 2009 at 3:08 pm
@ Kadumel

Yeah, a white trash piece of shit is capable of driving a Cadillac you stupid waste of flesh. Ever heard of Dog the Bounty Hunter?

And your stupid poetic crap about a moving fetus means fuck all here. Its irrelevant. So go preach your load elsewhere, then eat shit and die.
I Know Nothing- June 25, 2009 at 2:54 pm
If Ramppage had been a f*ckin' man, & a true follower of Jesus Christ, & just owned up to what he did in the first place this sh!t would've been over without much of an issue. But instead he tried to weasel his way out because he's a freakin' coward when all is said & done. Period. Argue all you want, you're wrong.
HereForTheBooze- June 25, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Jackson's insurance company will get two phone calls, pay the bitch off, and we'll (hopefully) never have to hear about this stupid incident ever again.

thaigger- June 25, 2009 at 1:28 pm
wow this bitch is stupid if it was proven that the crash didnt cause the miscarriage y waste everyones time and even bring this to court ? i think shes hoping rampage will throw money at her to make it go away. the bitch was driving an escalade you know that big ass SUV is safe even against a fuckin monster truck. I hate people like this trying to take money away from people they didnt work for. americans just wait for the oppurtunity to sue others its disgusting.
Jay Smith- June 25, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Her car already got fixed, and everything was paid for. Of course she is just tryin to milk it. Especially when she found out that he had a little bit of money, and was a famous athlete. I don't see her getting anything else out of him though.
Kadumel- June 25, 2009 at 1:10 pm

She's probably some white trash piece of shit trying to take advantage of the situation for money.
just some dong- June 25, 2009 at 12:53 pm
So, no ESPY category for "Best Law Force Evasion By a Male Athlete"? 'Cuz Jackson's got that one in a lock.

PS - fuck that guy.

Clayton sez: "a judge would likely dismiss a jury's decision if they were to decide in favor of the plaintiff."

I'm sure that's what OJ's lawyers were telling him when Goldman brought up his civil suit.
Clayton- June 25, 2009 at 12:04 pm
hell no
El Famous Burrito- June 25, 2009 at 11:51 am
Would you bet your whole purse on it?
Clayton- June 25, 2009 at 11:39 am
If a scientific medical review proved that the miscarriage happened for reasons other than the crash, a judge would likely dismiss a jury's decision if they were to decide in favor of the plaintiff. Well, if Rampage's attorneys are worth anything.
El Famous Burrito- June 25, 2009 at 11:16 am
So does this lady want money, or does she want Rampage to give her another baby?

Cuz, I heard he was good at that.
Geriatric Peon- June 25, 2009 at 11:02 am
I just had a miscarriage because of this news.
