you're right, hal. i should just stfu. i thought i had something insightful to say, but after reading the loads of insight in your post i have realized that i am just a dumb ass who doesn't know what i'm talking about. all the evidence you heaped on in your supporting statements and all the valid points and well-researched arguments make my pithy comments seem, well, rather undeserving of anyone's consideration. i apologize for bringing nothing but name-calling to the discussion and will make sure to really do my homework the next time i have an opinion and want to get into an interesting discussion.

This is the problem with fighters, and huge athletes in general. Everybody's afraid of them. "Leave the girl alone, asshole!" is very probably a sentence Rampage has never heard in his life. I know you're not supposed to dry hump strangers, you know it, but did anybody tell Page? Seriously, did they? ever? DW was too busy laughing his ass off. Even Nichols didn't do anything that couldn't be interpreted as friendly/flirty joking around (if she says it sucked for her, i'm not calling her a liar, but you can't see that on the video). Several guys standing around dont say a word and the cameraman doesn't miss a second. All i'm saying is, if we want these guys to stop acting like this, maybe we should sack up and seriously, for reals guys, say it to their face.
(I would recommend doing this in a brightly lit public area. no sense being *completely* stupid.)

At this point as far as combat sport's go, Tae Kwon Do tournaments are a very safe bet for any women with the desire to compete. It does suck for them, but look how long it has taken for the UFC to be even remotely taken seriously. There is still a LONG way to go for all of MMA.

the problem with women's mma is that it is not exciting in any way, and the ufc is not going to offer a product that will surely suck. let the other promotions experiment with it until it becomes exciting (doubtful it ever will be), then the ufc can come in and run with it.

i don't know how women's roles can be improved in this promotion... but to be fair it seems like anyone but the fertittas and dw is fair game for exploitation.

what i find interesting in all of this is how gender roles are being played out within the UFC. dana white has created an environment that is hostile to women. there are no women competitors. ring girls and interviewers are chosen for their looks, not for their credibility. CP has followed that model.

it's funny how MMA always wants to differentiate itself from wrestling, but relies on the same hackneyed, gender-specific tropes.

Unfortunately we got to see Dana's reaction first hand. So as far as him being punished, I think it will happen if a lawsuit should happen to surface. One way or another he will get his, A LOT of people are no longer interested in him because of this yet for some reason I think his hardcore fan's have come to expect this type of behavior from him because it isn't the first time he's pulled shit like this.

i do see your point. i just think rampage should be admonished or in some way penalized by the ufc... that kind of behavior is unacceptable in any professional situation and is certainly not good for the sport.

i don't know if she's a professional reporter... all i've seen is this interview and i think something like professionalism is determined by analyzing a body of work over a period of time.

she asked questions, he answered, she followed up. seems good so far...

I don't think we can really know how traumatic the incident was until we find out how erect Rampage was. Obviously, if he's fully erect it's much more traumatic than if he's just rubbing his semi on her.
